She was reading her books with her utmost attention when her phone started ringing. She sighed knowing how people always call her when she is studying.
She walked to her bed before looking at the caller id. An unknown number. She breathed deeply before picking up the call.
"Hello", she answered waiting patiently for the other person to speak.
"Hello", she spoke again but all she came across was silence.
She was about to hang up when she finally heard the voice she was having nightmares of.
"How is my baby girl doing?", she heard making her gulp.
"Studying?", she whispered more like asked as he took a deep breath.
"Are you alright?", she asked being curious about the deep breaths he was taking.
"Will it affect you if I am not", he stated making her frown as she sat on her bed.
"Now you are scaring me", she told him.
"I got shot", he stated and she almost forgot to breathe as her heart started beating rapidly.
"Where are you?", she asked in a shivery voice.
"Why would it affect you?", he asked in a mocking way.
"Please. Where are you?", she pleaded as she felt weird in her heart. She kept her hand on her chest feeling the restlessness as tears escaped her eyes.
"Khurana Mansion", he stated as she sniffed taking her purse from the table.
She stared at her phone which was switched off. She forgot to charge it.
She walked downstairs calling her brother.
"What is wrong, Tara?", her brother asked who was sitting on the sofa sipping on his tea.
"Bhai", she sobbed as her brother reached to hug her.
"Bhai, please drop me at Khurana Mansion", She pleaded as her brother frowned.
"What's wrong?", he tried to ask.
"Please Bhai doesn't ask anything", she cried as he stared at his wife who got his keys for him. He nodded before holding his sister's hand taking her outside.
He made her sit in the front seat before taking the driver's seat himself. She continued crying the whole way as her brother continued looking at her in between. They soon reached the Khurana Mansion.
Shraddha was crying herself seeing her son in so much pain.
Tara walked inside quickly with tears falling down her cheek.
"Where is he, Kenit?", she walked to Kenit who stared at his mother.
"Kinshuk, where is he?", she asked when Kenit didn't say anything.
"He is fine, Tara. Please calm down", Kinshuk spoke as Tara shook her head.
"Let her go and see him once", Aadhish told Kinshuk as he nodded taking Tara towards Arjun's room.
"Go", he said opening the door. She walked inside with shivery legs. He was lying there with a thick bandage on his lower stomach.
His eyes immediately met hers as she cried standing in the corner.
"Come here", he asked offering his hand to her. She stared at his hands for a second before looking at him. Before she could think twice she ran towards him throwing her arms around him crying on his shoulder.
He was taken aback by her sudden outburst. Her hiccups were echoing in his room as she cried wrapping around his neck.

"Wife", he called as her hold increased around him.
"I was so scared", she whispered as he pulled her away from him wiping her tears gently.
"Tara, you are my wife. You need to be strong", he told her caressing her cheek as she shook her head like a stubborn child.
"I don't want to be strong. I don't want to lose you", she cried not realizing what she was speaking.
"Shh", he pulled her to his chest as she cried holding his shoulder scared that he would disappear any moment.
There was a knock on the door which made the both of them pull away much to his distaste. She wiped her tears as her brother entered inside with a frown on his forehead.
"Tara, go wait in the car for me", he ordered her which made Arjun clench his fist. He didn't like the way he ordered his wife.
"But Bhaiya..", she was speaking when he showed his finger to her making her silent.
"I taught you better not to talk back", he said harshly which successfully silenced her. She looked at her fiance with wet eyelashes one last time meeting his eyes before walking out.
"What is it about?", Arjun spoke rather rudely irritated by his sudden intrusion.
"Arjun Khurana, we agreed to marry Tara to you just because Papa is having good relations with your father. We saw you from your childhood but I am unable to understand how my sister immediately agreed to marry you when she had zero interest in you", Dinesh asked angrily.
"How can you say she is having zero interest in me? Can't you see her restlessness for me, her tears?", Arjun asked leaning back staring at him in an arrogant manner.
"Don't speak to me in that manner, Arjun. My sister had zero interest in you. She got affected by your pain because that's how she is. If today I asked her to say no to this marriage, she would do it without even thinking twice", Dinesh spoke making Arjun laugh.
"What makes you think she is not married yet?", Arjun asked rubbing his forehead enjoying the whole drama.
"Excuse me", Dinesh asked when Arjun switched on the television. He stared at Dinesh before pointing at the television.
The first picture was that of her crying with her eyes closed leaning on the wall of the gurudwara with her head covered with a pink dupatta, her cheeks, and nose red.
The second one was of him wiping her tears with her staring at him in shock.
The third one was of him holding her hand taking rounds around the holy book.
The fourth one was of them bowing in front of the holy book sitting on the floor.
"We look great together. Don't we?", Arjun asked Dinesh who was staring at the screen with red eyes and clenched fist.
"How dare you?", Dinesh asked looking at the curious and innocent face of his sister.
"You think I force her. You can see clearly in the pictures", Arjun told Dinesh switching off the television.
"Even if the god himself tells me that my sister is impure, I would deny to believe him as well then who are you here", Dinesh said making Arjun raise his eyebrows at him.

"Bro, you need to calm down here. Impure is a bit wrong word here, you should say innocence", Arjun said keeping the remote aside.
"If you weren't injured, I would've killed you myself but my father taught me better", Dinesh said glaring at Arjun.
"I am not scared of anybody, brother-in-law that's why I showed you the pictures myself. Your sister is already married to me and once I get something, I make sure it stays mine forever", Arjun told him in a cold and arrogant way which can send shivers down anyone's spine but it made Dinesh angrier.
"She is not an object", Dinesh gritted out at him.
"She is not I agree. She is a beautiful human being who belongs to me", he stated the last part darkly.
"I'll speak to Papa and make sure this marriage is canceled", Dinesh gritted out making Arjhun laugh.
"You can try that as well if you want me to come to your home and get her myself to the place where she actually belongs", he stated shaking his head.
"You really forced her to say yes to this arrangement, didn't you?", Dinesh asked him but Arjun chose to stay silent to this question switching on the television himself looking at Tara's pictures. This silence was enough for Dinesh to know he was very much right about his intuition. His sister was suffering so much for so long.
"If you tried to do something trying to make her run away remember that I'll let out all our marriage pictures in the media. What will you answer your relatives then?", Arjun asked when Dinewsh was about to leave in anger.
"We don't care what people think. The point that my sister is upset marrying you is more important to me. And for your kind information we belong to an educated family, we know that you have already committed a crime forcing your decision on her emotionally harassing her so don't give me the shit of letting out these rubbish pictures because I don't care. My sister is more like my daughter and I won't let her destroy her life marrying a monster like you", Dinesh spoke angrily.
"How many days have it been since your marriage?", Arjun asked getting his gun from the side draw.
"You can't scare me with these things", Dinesh told him bravely.
"I am just asking you a simple question Brother-in-law", Arjun said leaning back on the bedrest tracing his finger on his gun.
"One month", Dinesh said still not getting what he meant.
"And your wife is already pregnant. I forgot to congratulate you", Arjun said making Dinesh glare at him.
"First night ha?", Arjun asked teasingly with a smirk on his face.
"Don't go there", Dinesh told him.
"I just want you to know Tara is safe with me. I would save her by giving her my life. She is my most precious treasure", Arjun told Dinesh truthfully.
"You are a devil in disguise of human, Arjun. You think I don't know how you got shot. I am very well aware of your devilish tendency. My sister had seen nothing cruel in her life. She is no less than an angel knowing nothing about the world. She is no match to you. Find somebody who is your match in status and behavior", Dinesh announced trying for the last time to make him agree.
"If you want her to be safe, you don't need an angel but a devil who knows the negativity of the world. Dinesh, I know your brotherly side and I completely agree with you. I am aware of the fact that you also consider me as the best choice for your sister but are scared to let go of your beloved sister", Arjun said straight away as Dinesh stared at him for a few seconds before sighing.
"Fine, this will only remain between us", Dinesh said as Arjun continued being silent.
"Don't tell her about this baby thing. She is already too excited about every single thing. There are few complications for three months. We are not even telling my father except my mother", Dinesh told him as Arjun nodded.
"I'll take a leave now", Dinesh said being uncomfortable having nothing to say anymore.
Arjun nodded his head keeping his gun aside which was having no bullets in it. He sighed lying back feeling a sudden pain in his wound making him wince slightly.
"You are fine right?", he heard her which made him look straight at the door to find her leaning on it.
"You didn't leave with your brother?", he asked as she bit her lower lip.
"I just wanted to make sure, you are fine", she said meekly. He motioned her to come towards her. Her feet unknowingly brought her towards him as she helped him lie down on the bed.
He was just staring at her face. Her hair was in a bun secured by a clutch.
He opened her clutch letting her long hair fall on his face because of her leaning on him.
"I am sorry", she whispered reaching back to check the clutch when he held her hand pulling her closer to him.
"Were you really scared for my well-being?", he asked but she chose to stay silent trying to get away from him.
"I thought you would be the happiest person if I died", he spoke when she kept her finger on his lips staring at him with fear-filled eyes.
"I am not that cruel to think like" that. If it would've been anyone else in your place I would've done the same thing", she told him struggling more than before hitting his wound mistakenly making him wince. Her eyes widened looking at the blood in her hands.
"I am so sorry", she gasped checking the wound which started bleeding lightly.
"Oh god, I should've left already. I am just adding to your problems", she cried. He was too busy smiling at her worried face as she was busy cleaning his wound with the antiseptic.
"You cured me already", he thought in his mind smiling at her worry feeling loved by somebody after so long. He only felt this when his Roshni Ma cares for her. Everybody saw him as Arjun Khurana. They forgot to see the real Arjun inside him.
