《One Last Fight》Welcome To Hogwarts Bookworm

These past few months have consisted of many things. Ethan was able to pull many strings, and he landed Bo a place as lead prosecutor on her dad's case. Her bump also started to show. Which made me realize finding out about the baby was real. I was having a kid with the woman of my dreams.
The little miracle growing inside of my fiance was something I wanted to see ever since I found out about her. When I saw the little bump, I nearly lost my shit. I noticed. I mean, I looked for it every day. The second I saw a small bulge, I was freaking out. Bo couldn't stop laughing at the many photoshoots I had with her stomach, but I wanted pictures of it all.
Bo's doctor said not many women show at three months, but due to her figure, it was a given. So, John and I were priming the nursery walls. Miles was more than happy to paint the Harry Potter mural Bo picked out on Pinterest. The moment we laid down the color, my heart started to flip.
My friends were drinking Bo's homemade lemonade in the corner, watching me as I stared at the room with happiness. Nothing has brought me this much joy since I met Bo. After getting her nails done, I wanted this to be a coming home surprise.
The wedding is next week. Exactly, one week from today. Everything we chose to do, we did late. Picking out her dress? A few days ago. Picking out my tux? Yesterday. Finalizing decorations? Well, that happens quite a few months ago when we agreed on getting married. Bo wanted a fall wedding. Even in August, she was getting a fall wedding.
Everyone said that wedding planning was difficult, but honestly, Bo made everything easy. She practically had everything laid out. It made me worried she did everything too quickly, but I knew Bo. If there was something wrong or something she wasn't one hundred percent sure about, I would know. I knew her like the back of my hand.
Everything she picked, from the cake decor to the table's layout, she squealed and shrieked. She clapped with excitement and was deadset on her ideal wedding. Bo was more than aware that between the money I had, and the money she was bringing in, we could spend more on our wedding. She didn't want to - she wanted to spend it on the baby.
We couldn't shop for clothes until we found out the gender of the baby. We decided the night of the wedding, after the reception, we will start a bonfire. Whatever color the flames are, we will find out the gender. Bo chose the person she thought she could trust with one of the biggest fucking secrets ever, and that fucker turned out to be John.
So, we concealed our results in an envelope for only John's eyes to see. He will have to pick out the color to throw into the flames. I bet Bo one hundred dollars that he will reveal it before then. She bet me two hundred, so we agreed.
"Have you thought about names?" John questioned. "In a week you will be how many months?"
"August will be four months," I sucked in a deep breath. "We are going with Collins if it is a girl. It is her mother's maiden name. Maverick if it is a boy, which I know it isn't."

"Collins and Maverick Carson," Miles grinned. "I like it."
"Why Maverick?"
I looked up at John. "Remember those comics you bought me when I was staying at your house? I didn't have any of my books from home, and you didn't know what I liked to read, so you bought me comics?"
He furrowed his brows. "Yeah, a little."
"Maverick was the name of one of the characters," I smiled. "He was mysterious and everyone talked about him. In a way, I felt like I could relate to him."
"You do know Maverick is a Marvel character, right?"
I started to shake my head. "No, I didn't know that."
"Oh, you don't remember seeing the words Marvel on the comic or X-Men? What the shit Kinnick?"
"Five seconds ago, you had no idea what I was talking about," I threw up my hands as he handed me the drill for the crib. "Now, you are giving me a fucking comic lesson?"
He shrugged. "It started to come back to me. I guess."
"Funny," I gave him a harsh smile. "Anyway, I named his Maverick. I wanted to name him after you, but John is the most generic fucking name ever, and I don't want to name my kid something that he will get made fun of for the rest of his life."
"Why would he get made fun of for having the name John?"
"I don't know," I shrugged. "If I name him John, chances are he will want a Declaration of Independence themed birthday party and ridiculous suits for his wedding. Then we will be fucked because no other kid will want to be his friend. And if you think about it, I am your only friend."
He grinned. "You are a serious piece-of-shit. Miles is my friend, right?"
Miles looked away from his mural on the wall. "Uh - no. I am nobody except for Bo's friend because she actually treats me like a friend."
"What the fuck am I?" I toss up my hands. "A roach?"
"Yeah," he turned around. "A pesty roach that I can't seem to get rid of."
"You are a dick."
He snorted. "Love you too, roach."
"You know what," I tossed a piece of cardboard at him. "I hate all of you."
"Aw," John pouted his lip. "Why? Do you not like when you get treated the way you treat others?"
I slid the crib against the wall, underneath the Hogwart mural on the wall. Miles insisted on painting everything Bo wanted, and it has taken hours. Since eight o'clock this morning, he has been busting his ass off to get it all done. Bo wanted a replica of the Maurader's Map on the closet doors. The first page of Sorcerer Stone on the small wall next to the floating bookshelves, and an outline of Hogwarts above the crib.
In the corner of the room, next to the changing station, I hung two bird cages. Inside of those bird cages, I placed a light-up owl, and a replica of Hedwig. John hung up the navy blue curtains, with silver stars scattered along its surface. Everything was coming together. I couldn't wait for Bo to see it.
"Do you have more books than you have baby clothes?" John watched me as I placed the books on the floating shelves.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, we have no clothes," I snickered.
"There is not enough room for all of those books."
I laughed as I looked down at the tote full of baby books. "Yeah, well, Bo is excited."
"A bookworm in the making."
"Currently cooking in the oven," I agreed. "Alright, what do we think?"
"Perfect!" Miles nodded. "Looks good."
"I need to install the train," I rubbed my face.
The Hogwarts Express was something Bo wanted chugging around the room, but we both agreed it couldn't be on the ground. So, I promised to build her something. That is why we have a floating shelf that goes all the way around the room. The train will ride the tracks. The lights will flash on the ceiling as it makes rounds.
"This is the most magical nursery I have ever seen in my whole life," John nodded.
"Agreed," Miles smiled. "Bo is going to love it."
"This is going to become her reading room real quick," I laughed. "She will love this chair."
I stared down at the deep yellow recliner that rocks. A white pillow sat on the seat with silver Harry Potter replica glasses on its surface. John handed me my glass. The one filled to the brim with lemonade because I was too busy trying to get my baby's nursery done than quenching my thirst.
After the small break, I rushed to clean everything up. Miles helped me conceal the paint, and clean the brushes. John gathered the trash. The room was spotless once we were completely done with the room.
The front door slammed shut. "Kinnick!"
I felt butterflies in my stomach as I heard her laughter float through the house. The girls were here, which also meant Trevor. Trevor was now one of the girls. We were going to leave it as such because he liked to be involved with them more than us. He said they weren't dicks.
The boys followed behind me as I followed her sound. "Bo?"
She looked up at me with bags in her hands. "Look what I got!"
"More books?" I grinned at her. "We barely have any room for the other ones."
"How would you know? We haven't been able to put them up yet," her eyes focused on Miles. "Were you all painting?
"The nursery."
Her lips parted as she looked up at me. "What?"
"Come see."
"Yes!" John clapped. "Come on!"
Marcy smacked him with her purse before smiling at us. "Go on, we will look after you show her."
I mouthed a thank you in her direction as I grabbed the bags from Bo's hands. Holy shit. These were fucking heavy. By the rate of these books, I will have to pay someone to put an addition on the house with another library. Just for the baby.
Before I opened the door, I sat the bags on the ground. "Are you ready?"
"I am ready," she looked up at me. "Please, open the door."
I pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Welcome to Hogwarts, bookworm."
The second I opened the door, tears were welling in her eyes. I watched as she looked at the room with awe. She pointed at the murals on the wall, completely astounded by everything. Then she looked at the trains and cupped her mouth with her hands as she watched it make its rounds.
"You - you - you did the train thing," she looked at me as tears fell down her cheeks. "We talked about it, and you did it. I can't believe you built that. Oh my goodness. Kinnick."
I pulled her into my chest. "What do you think?"
"I think this should be our bedroom instead."
I let out a belt of laughter. "I love you."
"I love you so much," she stared at the walls. "This is perfect. So, perfect."
"I bought the illustrated set of the books online," I looked at her. "I don't know where you want them, but a Harry Potter nursery needs Harry Potter books."
She let out a sob. "Why are you so perfect? Our baby is so lucky to have you. I am so lucky to have you. We are so lucky to have you. I love you so much."
I pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I love you bookworm. I love you so fucking much."
"Can you believe we are getting married in a week?" She sniffled. "And we are having a baby five months after?"
"January seventeenth," I sighed. "I can't wait. I have been counting down the days."
"It is a boy, I know it."
"You are wrong," I shake my head. "I talked to her a few nights ago, she said she is a her."
"You talked to her?"
"I talk to our baby every night," I rubbed her back. "Every night you fall asleep, I lay next to your stomach and talk all night long."
"About what?"
"Everything," I shrugged. "She is like my little therapist. From the moment everything went wrong in my life to the second everything started to go right. She knows it all."
"He knew it all."
"No," I chuckle. "She knows how much I love her mom, and how lucky I am to have two girls in my life."
"So, you aren't lucky to have a boy?"
I pinched her side. "Not what I meant, dork."
She shoved me away, laughing as she placed her hands on her stomach. "Do you hear that? Your dad is hating on us, babe."
"Hating on you?" I laughed. "You are a shithead."
"A shithead? Do you hear that Mavs?" Her dimples showed. "He is calling your momma a shithead. What else am I, Kiki?"
"You are my best friend, Boston Bennett."
She is going to be my wife. The mother of my children. She looked up at me with a smile on her face as she held her stomach. There was a healthy glow to her skin and vibrancy to her smile. I loved every bit of it. Her head cocked to the side, letting her curls fall down the side of her arm.
She extended her ring finger out to me. "Til the end of the line?"
Our rings clinked as our fingers intertwined. "Til the end of the line."
