《Supergirl x reader》Gratitude (Kara)

You felt the little fingers curl around your own. You watched the tiny fist cover the top of your ring finger and your heart felt like it could explode.
Your watering eyes traced the tight curve of the gold and green around your finger, the same gold and green having been there for almost 2 years. They trailed up to the pink soft skin of your newborn, holding your own skin as if it was a lifeline.
You closed your eyes and let the tears that had settled in them fall.
'Hey woah.' A throaty giggle drew your eyes open again. There was a hand on your face catching your tears and wiping them.
'Sorry. Sorry. Just... so happy.' You whispered and turned your head to kiss the inside of her palm.
You looked up to see her blue eyes watering too.
'Rao I love you.' She whispered back.
'I love you too. So much. I love you. I love you.' Tears still fell down your face and you let them. The happiness needed to spill out from somewhere.
You and your wife held steady eye contact for a minute before you couldn't help but flicker them back to her. Your daughter.
'You're both the most beautiful people in the universe.' Kara murmured from where she was seated next to the hospital bed.
'Come here.' You demanded through more tears.
She floated herself up and into the bed and attached herself to you like a koala.
She nuzzled into your hair and placed one hand on your baby's head and one around your waist.
'Thank you for giving me this life.' You breathed out. It wasn't enough. You thanked Kara everyday for all she gives you and it's never enough. It never will. The gratitude you have for this alien who turned your world upside down will never waver. But she says the same to you as response. So maybe your gratitude and her gratitude levels each other out. But you look at the baby in your arms, and the ring on your hand matching the one on the hand stroking your daughters cheek, and you can't be grateful enough.

Old rivalries clash with new necessities as the fabric of reality strains once more. ___________________________________________ This is my first shot at posting something I've written and a story set in a literary universe that I really want to take places, one of several that's been rattling around in my brain for a few years now. Constructive criticism always welcome, unconstructive criticism welcome with the caveat that I very well might ignore it. Written for Nanowrimo, because why not.

Heartbreak Town (COMPLETED)
Reagan Renne Walker left the tiny town that she grew up in in Wyoming five years ago to fulfill her dream of opening an equine therapy ranch in Montana & to start a new life. Reagan's parents died when she was just seven years old. Mallory, Reagan's older sister, was still too young to care for both herself and her sister. As a result, Reagan and Mallory were forced to live with their grandparents. Mamaw and Papaw Walker sent both girls through school and college. Reagan never imagined leaving Wyoming. However, after her unexpected relationship with Swayde, her childhood best friend, and love of her life, took a turn for the worst, all Reagan could think about was that she couldn't get out of Wyoming fast enough. Swayde is your typical, rugged cowboy. His smile was enough to melt any girls heart, his eyes made it seem like the sun was always shining, even in the worst storm, his square jaw line accented his dark beard, his body thick with muscles. His physical features and build were intimidating at times, and didn't always match his laid back, easy going, gentlemanly personality. Swayde never thought he would fall for feisty Reagan, and even more so, Reagan never thought that she would fall for him. They end up in this unexpected whirlwind relationship, and everything is hunky dory until Reagan finds out a secret from Swayde's past that would forever change the way she looked at him; a secret he kept from her for over ten years. Confiding in her grandma, Reagan finds out that her grandparents knew the secret all along too. How could the people she thought loved her hurt her so bad and keep this big of a secret from her for so long? When tragedy strikes back in Wyoming, Reagan is forced to move back to the town she swore she would never step boot in again, thus leaving her new life in Montana behind. Through God, can Reagan find a way to forgive the people who hurt her, or will she forever consider Alpine Ridge "Heartbreak Town?"
