《A Mindful Relationship [Jensoo]》Chapter 20

"You seem to be in a badder mood than in the morning as soon as we got out of Chemistry, Nini. Everything good?" Lisa, who seemed to notice my sour like SOUR mood, asked in concern while caressing my shoulder for needed comfort.

I sighed and rubbed my temple while replying to her question, "My soulmate is an idiot."

"And you can say that because..?" Lisa trailed off and looked at me expectantly for an explanation which I did not give but just a pout and an exhausted shrug.

"I just know! I have a feeling that this soulmate of mine is an idiot." I replied harshly before smacking my bag onto one of the benches placed by the school's huge garden.

I sat down beside it with my arms folded and legs too. Lisa and Chaeyoung both shrugged and sat on the grass in front of me after placing their bags beside mine.

Everything is so irritating.

"Aren't you one for assumptions." Lisa stated while she munched courteously on her hotdog.

She was waving it around my face as she stated that while I stared at the piece of bitten meat in disgust. I immediately slapped it away and now the poor Thai watched her hotdog fall into the grass and onto its demise.

I swear I heard her say, "I'll avenge you." Such a weirdo.

"You only met your soulmate for about a few weeks." Chaeyoung huffed out while she, too, crossed her arms in annoyance to my whines and complaints. "Calm yo ass." She added on.

"How can I calm my fine ass when this soulmate of mine just keeps on annoying the hell out of me?!" I snapped at her with great intensity in my tone. Chaeyoung simply shrugged, unfazed.

I sat back on the bench and leaned my back more onto the backrest of it while my neck laid there making me look up into the blue and shining sky. The brightness of everything made me close my eyes. I breathed out a sigh to compose myself.

"What did she do anyways?" Lisa spoke up to break the silence. She wasn't a fan of quiet. Obviously because she was a loud person.

"I don't wanna talk about it." I mumbled under my breath while sinking more into the bench. "It pisses me off."

"O—kay?" Lisa trailed off.

I heard a small thud meaning she placed herself on the grass already. Practically bored out of her mind while Chaeyoung was just being Chaeyoung. Grumpy as ever.

The comfortable silence broke once Lisa's phone went off. She mumbled a quick apology after hearing mine and Chaeyoung's annoyed groans.

"Oh? Its Jisoo Unnie." Lisa announced with a squeal.

My ears perked up. My head shot up and my eyes bore right onto the direction of Lisa. She was smiling giddily at her phone and so she excused herself to take the call.

"Wait, I'mma take this."

Just right after Lisa walked away to take the call just a couple of meters away and I gaping at her back figure expectantly, Chaeyoung had the most obnoxious question and statement I have ever heard she said. And she says A LOT of them.

"What's with you getting all squeaky and excited with Jisoo Unnie hm?" She asks while wiggling her eyebrows at me with a small annoying smirk on her lips. "Someone has a little crush."

I looked at her in utter disbelief. "Shut up. I have no idea what your intending."

"Yeah right. Drink some cold water, your face is all red." She threw a bottle of ice cold water towards me which I caught with ease and then I took my phone out to see my reflection on the camera and unfortunately, I was all red.

I looked at her face to only see amusement on it which made me sigh. Chaeyoung is absolutely irritating.

Suddenly, Lisa's voice came in contact with my ear which made me stiffen. And she stated, "What's with Jennie's face? She looks like a tomato."

"Ah y'know, she saw some smut article and read it. Now look at her." Chaeyoung replied nonchalantly with a shrug as if she didn't even tell a lie. A disgusting lie!

"Hey! God Jennie, that's disgusting!" Lisa expressed amusedly.

Her face was as red as mine and she was in the midst of deciding to laugh at me or to feel confused about why I was reading that article which isn't true! For the most part...

I threw my phone towards Chaeyoung's face but she caught it with ease and was about to call me a wuss when I pounced towards her and tackled her on the ground. She landed quite hardly on the ground but lucky for me, I had my weight on her.

"The fuck you said, Park?!" I raised a fist to 'hit' her but she already knew that was an empty threat.

She replied with an amused smile, "Do you really want me to say it on the school's speaker that you were reading an article about pussies-."

Right before she could finish that, I placed the sandwich that she had on her hand very deep onto her mouth; muffling her words in the process. "Shut your nasty mouth."

"Get off me, you pig!" She laughed and yelled at the same time before she pushed me off of her as soon as she swallowed the content of the sandwich, a WHOLE sandwich, making me stumble back onto the grass.

Lisa was just laughing along the whole show she just witnessed and stared down at the two of her best friends that were laying on the ground, sighing in content. "You two have become so weird."

"Says the one who eats cereal without milk." I retorted which made her pout.

"Hey! Its delicious!" She defended before she laid herself as well on the ground with us.

"Your just weird." Chaeyoung added in which made Lisa huff in defeat.

"Your weirder." She tried to retort only to be left speechless by Chaeyoung saying,

"But you like this weird person."

As soon as Lisa recovered from Chaeyoung's intense stare at her and the words she said, she replied, "Yeah... yeah I really do."

"Thought so." Chaeyoung nodded and then avoided Lisa's shy gaze on her. And did I just see her blush?!

"I... uh... gotta go for awhile." Lisa excused herself then got up before leaving to get herself something to refresh her mind and to cool her down because she was RED.

Me witnessing and hearing everything that just happened, sat up and looked at Chaeyoung blankly before asking,

"Did I just witness a confession?"

Chaeyoung cleared her throat and looked at me too. "You kinda did?"

"And was there any rejection?" I asked carefully and there she looked at the sky for a second then looked at me again while shaking her head.

"I don't think so."

"So... does that mean your validating her feelings for you?" My eyes lit up and there was finally hope to this unrequited love!

"Did I ever invalidate her feelings?" My face fell and I smacked my forehead while glaring at her.

This bitch...

"You always do, you insensitive bitch." I nudged her head.

I expected her to glare at me or something when I did that but instead she shot up from where she was laying and then yelled at me, "Really?!"

I covered my poor ears and nodded subtly making her groan out of frustration. She ruffled her own hair and then looked at me like she was asking for help or something.

"You didn't notice?" I asked, amused of the state that she is in now.

"Of course not." She huffed and crossed her arms. "She never told me anything." Her voice was filled with frustration and disappointment in herself. I quite understand her but she's literally so blind.

"Of course you wouldn't notice. Your mind always wanders to your soulmate. So she doesn't speak of it unless you observe her well that is."

"What?" She really seems so confused, I almost pity her density.

"Lisa's an open book whenever she's with you if you try to read her that is." I pointed to her and then sighed when she looked down and pouted.

"I guess..." She played with her fingers and shrunk on her spot.

I sighed and leaned my weight on her and she didn't even bother yelling at me to get off of her. I sighed once more before thinking of anything to say and I did!

"So what about this 'soulmate' of yours?"

As soon as I mentioned her soulmate, her face fell even more. Although she didn't express confusion or concern anymore but anger and sadness instead.

"Can we not mention her?" Her tone was with finality and spite. Her face couldn't be drawn which made me snicker. She glared at me and there Chaeyoung returns!

I smiled and pried, "I see... a fight perhaps? No wonder you were so grumpy this morning."

"I always am." She replied curtly.

"Fair point."

A few moments of silence and here I am prying again, "So what happened?"

Chaeyoung looked at me with that infamous 'Are-you-serious-right-now?' look of hers and I simply shrugged and gestured her to talk. She eventually sighed and turned her back on me.

"She... I said I don't wanna talk about her Jennie."

I didn't let that stop me. I turned her to face again and hell she was light! I was about to call her a pig, damn it.

"I'm curious." I neared my face towards her with the most convincing pout I could muster and even my eyes were pleading her to tell me.

She grimaced. "You... god stop! Your hurting my eyes with this abomination such as your face."

"Your mean." I sat back, defeated. She really looked very relieved to have me upset.

"Aren't I always?"

"Another fair point." I clicked my tongue and pointed to the sky as if I just thought of an idea which I did not. That made her chuckle a bit. A sad one, that is.

Another series of silence has passed and there she sighed. She finally spoke.

"She said she liked someone else... and that she's so in love with this specific girl she had a crush on for years. But this girl doesn't quite see her as someone special but just a friend. Her best friend for specificities. Her best friend always didn't mind her because she was too busy fantasizing over her own soulmate so I tried cheering her up! Even though I'm quite heartbroken, I don't wanna hear her sad... her voice sounded so broken last night. I told her that this girl she has a crush on was stupid and blind. That she was missing out on a very amazing person. She laughed at that and denied but I pushed and pushed before she admitted that I was really great company and that I was cute." She bitterly laughed while taking a rock into her hands and played with it for a moment before throwing it on a tree nearby. The sound of the impact echoed.

Why does all of that sound oddly familiar?

I shook it off and I looked at her with concern and she just brushed me off by jumping in her place and smiling. Fake smiling. She does that best.

"Anyways! Yeah, we ended the night with her being okay and me... crying a bit." She shrugged as if she really didn't care but her shaky tone and hands says otherwise.

I took her in my arms and engulfed her tightly. "Its gonna be okay, Chaeng." I told her while I caressed the back of her head and a shaky sigh was all I received from her.

"I hope so." She says after a minute. "I feel like shit."

"Hey, Lisa's coming here now."

"And what about it?" She slowly pushed away from my hug and sat back to wipe her eyes.

"Oh please. You have a soft spot for this girl. She can make you smile in a second." I stated the obvious.

"No I do not." She frowned, trying to hide the fact that she sounded so defensive, but her lips quirked up a bit and that made me smile too.

"Yeah right." I scoffed and rolled my eyes.

And there Lisa arrived in front of the two of us. Looking very flushed yet composed when she saw Chaeyoung. Looks like she didn't notice the red rings on the outline of Chaeyoung's eyes or else its gonna be an interrogation.

"Sorry I took long. Jisoo Unnie was planning on going here." She seemed apologetic but I didn't mind that since I heard Jisoo's name.

"And what'd she say?" I asked out of curiosity and well, interest too.

"She would."

"Someone's excited." Chaeyoung singsonged which made me glare at her but I smiled nonetheless of the thought of Jisoo arriving here.

"Shut up." I replied defensively even with a smile on my face.
