I pulled over for the ambulances to get through. They were going in the direction to the retirement home.
When the ambulances had passed I drove myself into the parking lot of a grocery store and called Zayn.
"Pick up, pick up, pick up..." I mumbled, praying he'd pick up.
It went straight to voicemail.
I sighed heavily, leaning my head against the steering wheel.
"I should go back..." I muttered. Zayn would have answered.
And why were there ambulances?
I reversed out of the parking lot, and drove to back to the retirement home where I panicked immediately.
Zayn's car was parked on the side of the road right at the entrance of the little neighbourhood before the retirement home.
I parked my car in front of Zayn's and before leaving I grabbed my phone.
Shoving it in my back pocket I ran out to the entrance to see what I'd never thought in a million years happen so soon.
Ethel.
She was lay on the stretcher, with a mask over her mouth, and tubes connected all over her arms.
I gasped, covering my mouth. Ethel was being brought into the ambulance, Beatrix by her side.
Before I knew it, the ambulance door closed and it drove away, police cars and a firetruck following along.
I took a moment to gather my thoughts before looking to see Zayn stood by the entrance in complete shock.
"Zayn?" I spoke, walking towards him. "W-Was t-that..." I immediately broke down in tears, Zayn running towards me.
He wrapped his strong arms around me and held me close. "Shh, love." Zayn mumbled into my shoulder. "She's going to be alright."
"C-Can we go? Are we aloud?" I asked, parting from Zayn which was probably the worst decision of my life.

Zayn nodded. "We'll take my car.. Just bring yours into the parking lot,"
"Why your car? We can just take both of our cars," I said, and Zayn shrugged.
"I want to drive with you," Zayn blushed.
I couldn't say no to that. "O-Okay."
So as quickly as I could, I pulled my car into the retirement home parking lot and then stepped out and walked with Zayn to his car.
Zayn sat down in the drivers seat, and I took the seat next to him.
He began driving.
"Are you okay..." I said softly.
Stupid question Harry.
"I guess...? What about you, are you okay?" Zayn asked, his eyes glued to the road as we drove to the hospital.
"It was all fine earlier... Ethel was smiling... watched us... Be in love," My heart was racing, as I had said that, even though I mumbled. I didn't mean to it just slipped out.
"Pardon?" Zayn asked, thankfully not hearing what I had said.
"Nothing... Sorry.." I looked down, my cheeks flushed red.
"You can say whatever you want babe." Zayn looked in my direction when we came to a stop light. "I won't judge you,"
"I-I.." I exhaled. "I didn't say anything important,"
"Have you ever been in love?" Zayn asked out of nowhere. "Sorry, sorry stupid-"
I cut him off. "As a matter a fact, I have been in love."
Zayn bit his lip.
Quite a turn on if you ask me.
"Recently?" Zayn questioned me, almost wanting a certain answer.
"Yeah," I smiled. "You?"
"I'm undeniably in love at the moment." He said quietly as we pulled into the hospital parking lot.
Undeniably.
I didn't say anything after that.

Zayn parked the car and the two of us rushed into the hospital.
Beatrix was in the waiting room, including Ethel's daughter - Bridget and her husband - Clayton.
"Is she okay?" I asked, Bridget who was in tears.
Clayton was comforting her. "She had a stroke," Clayton whispered, probably because Bridget couldn't hear it again.
"Oh my goodness," I wanted to cry, but Zayn and I had to be the bigger person here.
"I'm so sorry babe," Zayn sighed, taking a seat across from Bridget and Clayton.
"I-I hope she'll b-be alright..." Bridget sniffled, nuzzling her head onto Clayton's shoulder, Clayton's shirt damp because of her tears.
"Your mum is a strong lady." Clayton told her, kissing her cheek causing Bridget to giggle softly and press a kiss against his lips.
"We'll leave you two alone," Zayn smiled warmly at the couple, and grabbed my hand, standing up and we walked towards chairs that were around Beatrix.
"She's in surgery right now. They're trying their best." Beatrix sighed, turning her phone off as we sat down.
I nodded. "Do you mind if we stay for a little?"
Beatrix shrugged. "Call your parents. Do they know?"
"No, I'll text my mum right now. Zayn you too." I nudged Zayn who was starring at the wall.
"Oh okay," He said, pulling his phone out and sending his mum, or probably Leigh a message.
I texted my mum quickly.
My mum answered right away.
I looked up. Zayn was looking at me. "Yes Zayn?" I giggled.
"Nothing love," Zayn said, playing with the locks of my curly hair. "Nothing at all,"
A sudden, a nurse rushed out of Ethel's hospital room. "Surgery went well," She smiled softly at Bridget and Clayton. "She's in a coma while we speak, but immediate family can see her," The nurse said, motioning towards the couple.
Bridget nodded, wiping her tears her and Clayton following the nurse.
"I'm going to get a coffee." Beatrix said standing up. "Z, Harry? You two want anything while I'm gone?"
We both shook our heads. "No thank you. We're good." I spoke for the both of us.
Beatrix nodded, making her way to the elevator.
Now Zayn and I were alone.
Zayn continued playing with my hair, and hummed the song Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran.
"I love that song," I told Zayn.
Zayn didn't answer. "Give me love, like her... Cause' lately I've been waking up alone.." He nibbled on my earlobe, his breath hot against my neck.
I moved. "What are you doing Zayn?" I giggled.
"I don't know, sorry." He blushed.
I shook my head. "Give me love like never before... Cause' lately I've been craving more." I grinned at the hazel eyed boy.
"No, I just wanna hold ya'." And with that, Zayn fixed his hairs around my torso and held me close. "God, I'm sorry," He mumbled, his lips brushing against my neck.
"It's okay." Just kiss me.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.
