《Finding them》Chapter 18

After lunch Daniel and Mitchell loaded the twins in the car. They were heading to the shopping centre to get some clothes, be fitted properly for shoes and also get the rest of the things they needed for the house. Daniel had decided he would order the furniture online. He knew he couldn't drag the twins to the furniture store after going everywhere else. The twins were still wide awake so shoes were the first thing they were going to do followed by toys. Daniel could do the clothes shopping while they slept in the pram if needed and the last thing he would do is grab the booster seats for the table seeing they had the pram they brought in America. Even though everyone enjoyed when the twins sat on them Daniel also wanted them to be able to sit by themselves.
Once they parked at the shopping centre, Daniel grabbed the pram out of the car and set it up. The twins tired easily so having the pram allowed them to cover more ground and shop for what they needed to. Daniel put the twins in and off they all went to shoes and sox to get shoes fitted properly. When they arrived the manager was waiting for them. Daniel had called ahead and organised an appointment to have the twins fitted explaining the background so he could have someone who was capable of actually fitting shoes for the twins and not some kid who was just there for a job.
"Hi I'm Kristen, I'm the manager here and will be fitting the children for there first shoes" the manager introduced herself. "This is Dakota and Darcy. I'm there dad Daniel" Daniel introduced while Mitchell looked around at the different shoes. He didn't realise how many different shoes a child could need especially girls. Who would put there little girl in heels? He wondered to himself. "Can we get them out of the pram so I can measure there feet?" Kristen asked Daniel who nodded and began to get the twins out explaining to them what was going to happen. He did not want them freaking out.

Mitchell came back over when he saw his dad taking the twins out of the pram and held onto Darcy's hand as Dakota was going to have his foot measured first. Dakota was stiff as Kristen measured his foot, he didn't like being touched by people he didn't know or trust. It was difficult but they managed to get it done. Darcy was next and she silently cried as her foot was measured. Mitchell wiped her tears and praised her telling her how proud he was of her. Kristen felt horrible for putting the little girl through that and hadn't realised the extent of her abuse until she saw the little girl react badly to having her foot measured.
Once Kristen was done she cleared her throat, "right the twins have small feet for there age but we can use that to our advantage. You said they didn't like shoes so what I was thinking, is we give them pre walkers. This way they are soft soled and lightweight. The twins will get use to walking with something on there feet and as they get use to that we introduce other lightweight shoes" Kristen told Daniel who was comforting Dakota who was worried about his sister. "Sounds good" Daniel replied. Kristen went off to get the pre Walker shoes to show Daniel and the twins the different ones they could get. She returned with three pairs for each twin in there sizes. Dakota had a slightly bigger foot then Darcy.
Daniel looked at them all showing them to the twins. Dakota turned his nose up at all of them while Darcy liked the ones that were red and sparkly. When she saw them she immediately said "mine". Daniel helped to put them on his daughter and she walked around the store looking at them on her feet while smiling. She almost walked into the wall if it wasn't for Mitchell stopping her. "We will take the red ones for Darcy, do you have any other colours in those?" Daniel asked Kristen. "We have white in those as well" Kristen replied. "We will take the white pair as well" Daniel replied. "Great, now what about for him" Kristen asked. "Dakota which ones?" Daniel asked his son who was still glaring at the shoes Kristen was holding in front of him.

Mitchell was laughing at the look Dakota was giving the shoes while he held Darcy in his arms who couldn't take her eyes off the red sparkly shoes she had on her feet. "Dad, he is glaring holes in those things, how are you going to get them on his feet?" Mitchell asked his father. "Dakota pick some shoes then we can buy a lolly" Daniel tried to coax his youngest son who didn't stop glaring. "Why don't we try some on?" Kristen suggested to which Daniel nodded. Kristen handed Daniel a pair of black pre Walker shoes and he tried to slip them on Dakota's feet. Dakota didn't like them and kept kicking Daniel's hand away.
Mitchell was watching his youngest kicking the shoes away from his feet before walking closer to his baby brother. "Hey Dakota, look at Darcy. She has red shoes on. Would you like some red shoes like Darcy?" Mitchell asked. Dakota looked at Darcy who still was looking at her red sparkly shoes smiling at them. "Red shoe" Dakota said nodding his head. If Darcy liked the red shoes he would too he thought to himself. Kristen was stunned that the little boy who had been fighting trying on a pair of shoes for the last 10 minutes had agreed to a red shoe. She quickly walked out the back to grab a red pre Walker shoe in Dakota's size and returned to Daniel handing him the shoe. Daniel slipped on the red shoes and put Dakota down on the ground so he could walk around in them. "Cc" Dakota called out so Mitchell put his sister down and they both walked around the store looking at the shoes on there feet. Daniel told Kristen he would take the red ones and if they had white ones for Dakota like they did Darcy he would take them before paying for them and moving on to the next store to get the things they needed.
