《Finding them》Chapter 6

Dakota and Darcy tried to stay awake and just as they were dozing off, the doctor walked in waking them with a fright. Dakota glared at the doctor earning a chuckle from the doctor. The doctor handed the medicine over to Daniel with instructions on what to do and how much to give each child. He also gave him a letter clearing both children to fly after 5 days of antibiotics.
Mitchell ordered a car with two car seats to pick them up from the hospital. "Ok we can go to the hotel now" Daniel told the twins. "I am going to carry one of you and Mitchell will carry the other one" Daniel told the twins. "No touch" Dakota stated firmly. "We don't have shoes so you can't walk" Mitchell stated. "No shoes" Darcy echoed. "That's right, we have no shoes for you so we will carry you to the car and then tomorrow we can get new shoes so you can walk" Daniel stated. "Now would you like daddy to carry you or Darcy?" Daniel asked Dakota. "Addy or big Kota" Darcy echoed.
Dakota looked between his dad and his brother searching for what? No one knew. Dakota turned to his sister and again they spoke gibberish to each other before Dakota turned to his father. "Cc go big Kota, I go with addy" Dakota stated. "My name is Mitch" Mitchell stated. "Mitty" Darcy stated. "Mitch baby, and that's daddy" Mitchell replied. "Addy, Mitty" Darcy stated pointing just like Mitchell had. "Yeh that will do" Daniel laughed. "Ok I'm going to pick you up buddy and Mitch is going to pick up Darcy" Daniel stated. Dakota nodded his head and braced himself to be picked up.
Both kids were stiff as they were picked up. Darcy reached out for her brothers hand and Dakota did the same thing. Daniel and Mitchell moved closer together so the twins could hold hands which they did not letting go of each other. "Ellie?" Darcy asked looking for her elephant. "Woody" Dakota stated pointing to the woody teddy on the ground. Daniel handed woody to Dakota who grabbed it with his other hand not letting go of Darcy's hand. Mitchell found Ellie and handed to to Darcy who took it from him shoving it under her arm but not letting go of her twin. They headed down to the pick up area with the twins holding hands the entire time.

The twins had never been in car seats and it was a struggle to get them in. The seats had to be moved so they were beside each other. The twins refused to let go of each other and that pained Daniel that they thought they were going to be ripped apart. Mitchell sat in the back with his siblings as Darcy seemed to warm up to him the most as much as that killed Daniel he understood it too. She thought Mitchell was Big Dakota as they looked so similar. Daniel sat in the front and took a photo of the twins with Mitchell sending that and the one with the twins covered in watermelon to the group chat with his other sons.
The twins fought sleep all the way to the hotel. It was a 15 minute ride and Dakota glared at the driver the entire time while gripping his sisters hand. Darcy struggled to stay awake with the movement but didn't want to sleep so she could make sure that Kota stayed with her. When they got to the hotel, Daniel and Mitchell again walked side by side so the twins could continue to hold hands. They got some very weird looks but they didn't care. Daniel and Mitchell wanted the twins to feel safe and would do anything to prove that they were safe with them. "When we go into the room, you both can have a nap if you like" Daniel told the twins. "Cc sleep, Kota watch" Dakota told his dad. "I'll watch you both and keep you safe" Daniel told his son.
As they got into the hotel room Darcy barely could keep her eyes open. "Cc need wee wee" Dakota told Mitchell. "Ok bud, I'll take her to the toilet" Mitchell told his younger brother. Daniel placed Dakota on the ground and began to get the bed ready so the twins could have a sleep. "Kota come too" Dakota told Mitchell with a glare. There was no way that Mitchell was going to take his sister away. Mitchell carried Darcy into the bathroom with Dakota running behind him to make sure Cc was safe. Mitchell placed Darcy on the toilet and she did her business then Dakota went to the bathroom too.

Mitchell carried Darcy over to the bed with her snuggling into his chest trying to listen to his heart beat. He laid Darcy in the bed and Dakota laid on the bed next to his sister. Dakota pulled his sister close and she laid on his chest quickly settling down listening to his heart beat. Dakota fought sleep watching Daniel and Mitchell to make sure they wouldn't hurt his sister. "It's ok bud, get some sleep. We will keep you both safe" Daniel assured his youngest son who slowly closed his eyes letting sleep overtake him.
Daniel and Mitchell watched them both sleeping. Daniel could not help but to take another photo of the twins. Daniel and Mitchell were exhausted as well so decided to have a nap with the twins. Daniel laid next to the twins and Mitchell took the other bed both falling asleep quickly.
Daniel woke up being poked in the face by something. Darcy had woken up and was poking her father in the cheek. She was hungry and her ear was was starting to hurt again. Dakota was still sound asleep and Daniel had gotten closer to both of the twins in his sleep. Darcy was staring at her father who was smiling at his kids. "Hey princess did you have a good sleep?" Daniel asked his daughter. "Where pwincess?" Darcy asked. "You are my princess" Daniel replied. "Silly, I Cc" Darcy replied causing Daniel to chuckle.
"Cc sore" Darcy told her father. "Is your ear sore again?" Daniel asked his daughter who nodded her head yes. "Ok princess, I'll get you some medicine and then you can have something to eat" Daniel told his daughter who smiled. Dakota felt Darcy move and immediately woke up shielding Darcy with his body. "It's ok bud, Darcy has a sore ear again so we are going to give her some medicine and then have something to eat. Do you want something to eat too?" Daniel asked Dakota who calmed down slightly and nodded his head yes slowly. He still didn't trust his dad or brother but at least they hadn't hurt them yet and gave them food.

Heaven's Fall
There is an old saying, that only when one has fallen into the pits of darkness can they truly appreciate the light. But let me ask this of you, traveller, what of the monsters born in the darkness? This is the story of one such monster, Sendrien Dagon, the Demon Lord of Destruction, and the First Demon Lord. Evil looks to have its due... but first, it has to figure out how to deal with being trapped in a contract with an 8 year old girl. Follow Diane's struggle to mainter her humanity in a dark and unforgiving world, and slowly unravel the mysteries of Heaven's Fall in a living, breathing world where even the slightest mistake can cause the mighty to fall. While I do like to include humor here and there, expect things to get really, really dark and brutal. Do not take the grimdark, gore, and traumatising content tags lightly, especially from Book 2 onwards. Character art by: Xian

The Laptop Hero (Portal/Isekai LitRPG)
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. If you can do better I'll happily accept your submission and give credit for your work here!

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.

The Saga of Geir Røshjert
"His name will never be sung, son. Skalds and bards like me will never tell his stories to the mass. But only us and us alone will keep telling his story, his actions, his saga. For he is the man who started all of this." This is a story no man in Lumenter will ever hear, no man except for an Arnesen, for his stories are dull and generic to the ears of the masses, except for us, because he is the very reason why our people traveled this far east, why kingdoms in Erisgi fell and rose, why I... even existed in the first place. He is Geir, son of Arne, called 'the Stranger' by the people. But what he truly is, is a fiery red heart that beats inside every Eyklandian, Arnesen, and me.
