《Iliana's Choice (Completed) SAMPLE ONLY!》Epilogue

I roll my phone over in my hands. Worrying at my bottom lip, I look at Innie. "Should I ask Brax and Sean if they're ready?'" I ask her. It sucks that my males were taken to wardrobe somewhere else. With Will. Who is hopefully still alive and in one piece.
She shrugs. "How badly do you need some D?"
I laugh at her expression as she waggles her brows at me. She is lounging on the sofa, her round belly jutting out from her hips. Every time I look at Innie I get jealous. I want a pup. Not today, but soon. Maybe after the Olympics next year. When this press junket dies down. When the world settles down.
"Iliana? You're on in just a few," Diana, the PR manager Alpha Alex hired for Will and me, sticks her head into the dressing room.
My stomach rolls over, but nerves? I'm used to it. Sure, I wish I could snuggle into a pair of thick, muscular arms (or two pairs) instead of going on this morning show and smiling and pretending for hundreds of thousands of humans, but who doesn't?
"You look so gorgeous, BTW. That means 'by the way,' by the way," Innie chortles at her own joke, almost upsetting her perch and toppling to the floor. I pretend to glare at her. She is super cute and would be able to be 'the face of the supernaturals' if only she wasn't so... Innie.
Nope. It's me. I'm doing this. I have to do this. For all of the wolves I love and for those who love me.
"I love texting. It's just so beautifully lazy," she sighs, smiling.
Her... male... mate?... one of her mates?... Ben smiles at us as he looks up from his phone. "Velia is complaining that her insane, megalomaniac Dad has her male on lockdown."
"She's so grumpy. See? It's because she's not getting the D," Innie says wisely before she chortles. I smile at her. These two can make friends with everyone and they do. But I still don't trust Innie to represent us. She'd probably convince the American human president to nuke Spain and pretend it was an accident.

"Alright. I'm going to go out now," I tell them wryly. The sooner I make it to the set, the sooner they can start the segment, the sooner I can be back with my mates.
Innie sits up with a struggle, "let me see your smile." I obey and she nods, "perfect. Go knock 'em dead, Ili."
I take a deep breath and push open the door. The hallway behind the stage is packed with people prepping for other segments of the morning show. I duck to avoid a man in a suit and dance out of the way of a tray of what looks like omelets.
"OK, Ili, you are Will are up next!" Diana grabs my hand and tugs me toward the set. It's lavishly decorated in evergreen trees with twinkling red and green lights. Above the couch I'll be sitting on is a wreath of white. Diana told me I would look fabulous framed with its pretty glow. My she-wolf sneezes, not caring about showbiz. She's more concerned about going to this den her males keep telling me about.
Will and I walk on stage when our names are announced, smiling and waving as the crowd claps and cheers. Oliver Duncan, the host, greets us with a sincere smile. Katy McInroy finishes up with the omelet station and joins us as Oliver congratulates us on our recent win in Alberta.
"Congratulations to our North American sweethearts!" Oliver says. The crowd cheers, but I can see the speculation on many of the faces. I fight down my blush, but when two older ladies near the front audibly 'aww,' I know I've failed.
"Tell us about your program and your hopes for the Olympics. You two came out of seemingly nowhere just a few months ago!"
Will steps in, grabbing my hand and giving me a smile. "Iliana was really sick a couple of years ago."
I add, "when my health recovered enough to return to skating, I decided to do ice dancing, instead of skate."
"Not pairs?" Katy asks, her eyes gleaming.
I take in a breath. I need to tread carefully. I don't want the sport to be condemned for catering to young girls. "I love ice dancing, and it's so rare to find a partner that you click with as well as Will and I do."

"And we absolutely are looking forward to seeing you two at the Olympics!" Katy says with a smile.
"Now, I have to ask, Iliana what about this scandal that there are two fiances?" Oliver says.
Damnit. Damnit to hell and back. Will's face looks a little pale and I know my own echoes his expression. This is it. The big 'Iliana Thomas is actually a pervert', conversation.
Well, here goes nothing... "It's unusual," I admit softly, "but very honest and true."
"Not that odd anymore," Will points out, swooping in to my rescue. "Lots of couples aren't 'couples' anymore.
"And you're not part of a cult?" Oliver jokes.
I laugh a little shrilly, "definitely not! Just two good men and a lot of love." Oh, for crying out loud, Ili! Yeah, a lot of love. And D, damnit, Innie. For two days straight. I iced before coming here.
The audience is silent. I meet Oliver's eyes steadily, then switch to Katy. I refuse to be cowed by these two. To my surprise, Katy is grinning wildly.
"Well, I was like, 'whoa!' at first," Katy says to the audience conspiratorially, "until I met the two brave servicemen in question!"
That's the cue for my males to walk in. Of course, we couldn't come together. That would be too convenient for this show.
Brax and Sean sit down next to each other on the couch nearby. I keep my body calm, resisting the urge to howl to the moon and leap on their laps instead of staying next to Will.
Katy begins to gush about us, when Oliver, with a pale look on his face, interrupts us.
"Breaking news," he announces. "Everyone... Please watch the screen next to us." Just as I turn my head to look at the television, someone in the audience catches my eye. Alpha Alex gives me a slight nod, his face carefully impassive.
"Ladies and gentlemen, fellow Canadians, KTEA News has just received a statement from a group identifying themselves as the Northern American Wolf Council. We are, in fact, wolf shifters, or, to put it simply, humans that shift into wolves."
Without any other warning, a male comes onto the screen with his face blurred out and shifts to paws. The audience buzzes. One woman screams a little. Others laugh, convinced it's all just a cleverly-staged joke. The voice-over comes back on. "We understand this is difficult to believe, but we ask for your calm and cooperation in the coming months and years as the world adjusts to this news. We do not pose a danger. We are just another part of the world and its diverse and wonderful life."
I don't recognize the male or the voice, but I can hear the inflection of Alpha Alex's influence.
The clip is over. Short and sweet. I stand up with Will as the audience breaks into chatter. Sean and Brax find us and hem in Will and me, protecting us, but no one knows that we're wolves.
This is just the first step of many. The reveal first. Then, after months, maybe years, my personal reveal.
I find my males' hands with my own sweaty ones. Uneasiness seeps into the audience. Katy and Olver have recovered enough to begin the show again, but of course, the focus is now on the impromptu reveal of a secret species.
It's not until I start to relax that I see the image being displayed over and over on the screen, behind us. An image I imagine is being streamed across the globe right at this moment; Me, with Sean and Braxton on either side, staring with wide eyes as the wolf on the screen behind us shifts. My males look like the dangerous predators they are, but I don't. I'm delicate and tiny, sandwiched in between them. A little old granny wouldn't be afraid of me.
I reluctantly meet Alpha Alex's eyes. He smiles proudly and I understand the masterstroke. Even when my part in this is uncovered, this is the image of me the world will see.
"Can we go home?" I ask my males.
"Of course, Angel."
"Of course, Doll."

The Woman In The Palace
Highest rank #1 in Historical He glared at me with irritation. "Come inside!" ...And I did. He pointed to the stack of books on the floor. "Pick them up and arrange them the way they're supposed to."With trembling hands, I did what he asked quickly. Fret in the way I moved, picking up the books into my arms and lap one by one only for them to fall back on the floor over and over. I was a mess, upset, and it was obvious. This wasn't the kind of first meeting I dreamed of.The second prince was mean, and he was irritable. He had no clue who I am which made me resent it even more.He scowled as he watched me made mistakes after mistakes and after a while, he grew frustrated and bent over, picking the books himself."Forgive me, I didn't mean to snarl at you the way I did. I'm not used to being distracted. No one ever walks in my office unless they have my permission. I don't even know how the guardsmen let you in." I wanted to say because unlike you, they recognized who I am. But I kept my mouth shut in fear of aggravating his anger. His voice took a lot gentler tone, I imagined he must've realized how upset I was and felt bad about it.I said nothing. When we're done, I rose up to my feet, couldn't wait to get out of this room. This man was so impolite to me that I couldn't wait to get away from him."I apologize, your highness. I didn't mean to distract you in your private office." I stepped back getting ready to leave when a sliver of sunlight struck highlighting my face. "Wait!" He murmured and I turned back to look at him."You're beautiful." He said breathlessly.I would have blushed, but he was so mean and rude to me that his compliment lost its impact long ago."I need to go," I told him."Wait." A wave of panic rose in the tide of his voice. The prince was afraid to lose me. "What's your name, girl?" He asked quickly. "Jasmine, my name is Jasmine, your highness.""My Jasmine?" He murmured hopeful.
