"But, Nico, can't you talk to him for me?" You asked.
"Here's the thing, I'm not very sure he likes me, and I'm very sure I don't like him," Nico replied, turning the page of his book.
You sighed. You had a small crush on a guy who was a son of Athena. His name is Oliver. Not wanting to mess up and be all awkward and stuff, you asked Nico if he could talk to Oliver for you. Was that lame? Maybe. But you didn't care. Honesty, the only thing stopping you from marrying Oliver was the fact that you haven't "met yet."
You sighed at your thoughts.
Nico looked up from his book at you from across his cabin. "Dude, you've been sighing all day, I almost thought you had a breathing problem."
When you pouted, his eyes softened. "Okay, what's wrong?"
"Your face."
He face palmed. "I'm serious."
"Nothing's wrong."
"(Y/n), you're stuffing your face with M&M's. Obviously there's something wrong."
You looked down at the half-eaten bowl of M&M's in your lap. "I stuff my face with M&M's all the time," you argued.
He rolled his eyes. "(Y/n)."
"Fine. It's just...Oliver."
He put down the book in his hands. "You really like this guy don't you," he sighed, "Just go talk to him. It's not like he won't like you or anything. You're one of the most coolest and powerful demigods at camp. He'd be pretty lucky to have you."
You stared at him. "Oh. Um, thanks," you blushed, "Maybe I'll go talk to him at the bonfire tonight."
~~~~~
"Nico! Nico, guess what!" You exclaimed, running up to him.
He chuckled at your excitement. "What?"
"I just got a date with a certain son of Athena," you sang.
Nico's eye twitched. "Really? That's great," he said, giving you a high-five.
You grinned,"I know right? I'm so freaking happy right now."
"So, uh, where are you guys going?"
"Well, every first Friday of the month, a park near camp holds this movie night thing where there's a huge white movie screen showing a film for a lot of people sprawled out over blankets in the huge field. We still need to get Chiron's permission to leave camp, but Travis and Katie got permission before us, so I'm pretty sure he'll let us go."
Nico nodded while in deep thought.
"Anyway, gotta go. Lights-out is in half an hour. Bye, Nico. Thanks again," you waved.
"Later, (Y/n)."
~Nico's pov~
Kneeling behind a bush and trying not to get dirt on my new black jeans was not how I wanted to spend my Friday night.
Even worse, I had Alabaster, son of Hecate with me.
I watched from the foliage of the bush as (Y/n) and Oliver sat down on a picnic blanket in the grass, facing the projector screen.
Alabaster turned towards me. "Uh Nico?" He whispered uneasily, "This is a really really really bad idea."
"Then why'd you come?" I whispered back.
Alabaster's eyes bulged out in frustration. "You shadow-traveled me here!" He whisper yelled.
"No, I asked you which park the movie was showing and then when I went to shadow travel, you grabbed my wrist!" I whisper yelled back.
"Because I was gonna ask to come with, but I didn't know we were gonna be spying on (Y/n)!"
"Shut up, I can't hear what they're saying. And I can hardly see, this bush is thick."
"Like your skull, Nico?"
"I said shut up."
I watched as (Y/n) and Oliver watched (favorite movie). She laughed at a funny joke that the actor made. Oliver turned and smiled at her in admiration.
I grunted.
"She's going to see us, Nico. We weren't supposed to come here. This is called spying, and I'm pretty sure spying is wrong," Alabaster said.
I sighed. "I know. But I just wanted to see what they were up to. Oh my gods he just put his arm around her."
"Aw, that's cute," Alabaster commented, staring at the two.
I glared at him.
"I-I mean, that's disgusting! Cooties! But seriously dude, you keep telling me that you don't have a crush on her. What is this that I'm seeing right now?" He asked, gesturing towards me, then the bush.
"Okay fine. Yes, I do have a crush on (Y/n). But if you tell anyone, I will shove this bush down your throat," I threatened.
"I will take note of that. And ha! I knew it. You made it so obvious once I actually started paying attention and- uh oh," Alabaster trailed off, looking at something behind me.
I turned around, and I was met with an angry (Y/n) glaring down at mine and Alabaster's crouching figures. "What are you two doing here," she said sharply.
I winced. Before I could reply, Alabaster cut me off. "I was kidnapped and forced to be here," Alabaster said calmly.
(Y/n) then looked at me for an explanation. "I was just trying to look out for you-" I tried to say.
"I don't need you to babysit me, Nico," she said.
"I know, and I'm sorry. I just- I don't like him," I said with my head hung low.
"Wha- you mean Oliver? I didn't know that I needed your approval," she crossed her arms, "Who am I supposed to date then?"
"Me! Date me, (Y/n). I've liked you for so long and it's just really hard for me to just let you be all 'lovey-dovey' with some Athena kid."
Alabaster interjected. "It's true, he told me."
I gritted my teeth. "Not now, Alabaster." He muttered a 'Sorry.'
(Y/n) spoke up, "You're such an idiot, Nico. I've liked you way before I liked Oliver. I just never said anything because I thought you wanted to just stay friends."
Alabaster face-palmed. "See, this is why half of my OTPs never get together. I always ship the stupid people. You guys are blind."
(Y/n) and I rolled our eyes and smiled. "Let's just go back to camp," (Y/n) laughed.
"What about Oliver?"
"Oh yeah! I told him I was going to the bathroom. He must've been weirded out when he saw me head towards a bush," (Y/n) said, "I'll go explain to him what happened."
She pecked me on the cheek before walking to the son of Athena.
My face felt like fire, and all I could hear was Alabaster singing, '(Y/n) and Nico sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!'
And then I pushed him into the bush.
A fiction about itself and it's writer. Which is a very narcissic choice from the author, really, couldn't he have written anything else ? The cover was hastily made on gimp by the author. 8 205Molting the Mortal Coil
Reincarnated as a child in a new world a mild mannered programmer, named Sage, finds himself struggling to survive. The road to immortality is paved with danger, treasure, and conflict. This mystical eastern world is filled with Demonic Beasts, Treacherous Cultivators, and Extraordinary Legacies. Follow Sage on his journey to adapt to this new world, and find out if he can overcome the limitations of body, mind, and soul. Will he rise to the occasion and become a hero? Or maybe he'll turn to the dark side and end up a villain? Molting the Mortal Coil is more of a slower paced journey. It's not about endless battles and conquering the next bad guy who spits on the main characters shoes or sends him a funny look. There's also not a treadmill of tournaments or love interests. It's more of a slower burn with lots of, and hopefully not too much, world building. It's still supposed to be stuffed with action, but that won't pick up for a while since we start with a weakling. The first 30 chapters have a lot of time-skipping, but stay with me it gets better. I plan to re-write and add more to the first 30 in the future, but if you can push through I feel it gets much more fun after! Updates will be weekly. If you want to see more chapters, check out my Patreon(button at the bottom of every chapter)! Thanks everyone!
