《Nico di Angelo x Reader Part 1》Chapter 16-Edited

"Di Angelo! Can you shadow travel us out of here?" you shouted as you tried to avoid the dark hand. The wind whipped your hair back and Sapphrenia was losing her fight against the oncoming storm. You heard Nico shout a 'no' before it was taken by the wind. Groaning, you jumped out of Sapphrenia's saddle and into the air. You urged yourself to transform into a large owl and swooped down to your friends.
Taking the top of Sapphrenia's saddle in between your talons and lifting your friends up into the sky, you thanked the gods for the strength they lended you as you dodged the groping hands of the darkness. Another arm emerged from the earth and you were now dodging and swooping, trying to stay out of its clutches. You went in for a dive when you felt a cold hand grasp you. The other held onto Sapphrenia, Nico, and Annabeth. With a strong throw, the hand hurled your friends towards the east and dragged you down into the building beneath. You transformed back into your human form as you felt your body plummet to what is to be your doom. . . .
☠
"Ugh," you groaned as you tried to get up off the ground. Your arms shook weakly and you collapsed. You tried doing it again, looking as if you were doing the dreaded push up test and failing. When you finally got up, you dusted off the dirt on your clothing, checked for any injuries, and began taking in your surroundings. Hearing a hissing noise come from a tall, narrow tunnel that was located at you left ,you slowly walked towards the tunnel and took out your knife.
The only light you had was a small lantern you had found lit as you were walking down the tunnel. You followed the rocky trail for a while when it began to lead into twists and turns. After about an hour or so, it ended and faded into a large cavern that had torches lighting up the walls. Shadows danced on the cool surface of the smooth rock. You saw something hidden in the shadows in a far corner to the right. Curious, you edged towards it cautiously.
A rusty cage came into view. It's bars seemed to be weak, yet you knew better These were titanium bars. The rust wasn't rust, it was an illusion, formed by the goddess Hecate herself. Something moved inside of the cage, making you edge towards it slowly and peer into its bars. A gasp escaped your lips as you saw the goddess Athena herself, covered in filth and looking extremely pale. "Mom...."
Not even a second after you had uttered her name, the ground shook violently. You dodged a large piece of rick that had fallen from the ceiling. Breathing heavily, you ran into a dark corner and watched the very giant that had caused it all. "Where is she!" Porphyrion roared as he slammed his fist against the cage that contained Athena.
"My daughter, unlike you, is intelligent. She knows better than to come out into the open." she hinted as she shot a quick glance at you. Porphyrion roared once more, causing more rocks to fall from the ceiling.
"Insulting me will do you no good! Y/n will play right into my hands, and at her mother's own record! For the goddess of wisdom, you seem to lack the knowledge of humans. Your daughter is just a weak child that still needs her mommy to guide her," he taunted as he paced around the room expectantly.

"You will be surprised by what someone smaller than you can do, Porphyrion. Once Y/n has you in a state of vulnerability, it will be you that will regret your comment." Athena smirked as she tried to conceal the faint touch of fear in her voice with confidence.
"We'll see about that," he snarled as he paced some more.
Hours seemed to have passed by as you watched the giant before you pace up and down the cave room. Anxiously, you watched and waited for him to make a move. After waiting fifteen more minutes, the time came for battle. With a low grumble, the earth shook beneath you and the giant began to cackle. "Oh course!" He retorted in a monotone voice. "The girl has been here the whole time! I can hear her heartbeat in that little chest! Come out Y/n! Of are you too afraid to play with me?" he bellowed as he turned towards the corner you were hiding in. You slowly revealed yourself as he looked down at you with a triumphant smile on his face. He chuckled to himself as he bent down to make eye level with you. "Hello, little human," he said with an ugly yellow grin.
You took out your knife and readied it in your hand. "Uh, uh, uh! Have you not received the prophecy?" he asked with a sly grin on his face. You looked up at him confused as he glided over to another corner of the cave. 'How many are just going to pop up?' you wondered as you watched him wave his hand over a shadow and cages emerge out of the earth.
"Nico, Jason, Percy, Annabeth!" you shouted as their cages made their way to you. Porphyrion bellowed with a hearty laugh as his face turned up into a sadistic grin.
"If you harm me, you harm them. Which do you choose? Save your precious mommy, or you darling friends?" he asked in a baby voice.
A flurry of hot red anger boiled inside of you. You felt your eyes narrow into slits as you roared out in anger. "If it's a choice you wish, a choice you will get." you replied with venom as a dangerous expression made its way to your face.
"Very well, choose wisely, demigod," The giant taunted as his gaze looked over you with amusement.
"I have chosen already, Porphyrion. One that may very well end you as well. However, I have a question for you," you persuaded with agility.
"What will that be? You have nothing that will interest me young demigod."
"Contrary to popular belief, and unfortunate for you, your fate has already been set in stone. Now, what choice is it that you shall make?" you asked as you watched an apprehensive look flicker over the giant's face.
"How can I make a choice if you haven't given me an option?" Porphyrion replied lamely.
"I'm afraid you very well know your options, giant. Choose wisely," you answered as you flipped your knife in the air out of boredom and caught it.
"You drive a hard bargain, too bad that it won't be fulfilled." he replied as he made the first move. Your eyes flickered in delight as you jumped back and readied yourself. Porphyrion cursed under his breath as you lunged forward and snagged his heel with your imperial gold knife. He hissed in pain as you jumped onto his back and climbed into his shoulder, making sure to run your blade along his akin during the process.

You made it to his ear when you leaned in and whispered, "Now, do you want to reconsider? Release my loved ones and I will make this less painful." He shivered in fear as he thought about his next response.
"How about no!" he thundered as he swung his arm at you and sent you flying across the room. You managed to transform, shocking your opponent. "How is it possible? You are but a human girl! I will not fall for your illusions!" he shouted stubbornly.
An angry hoot came from your beak as you roared above him, encircling his head like a crown. Swooping lower, you pecked his head. He groaned and shouted in pain as he tried to wear you away. You gave a loud hoot and dived towards the cave floor.
Now transformed, you grabbed hold of your knife and threw it at his ear. Porphyrion howled as he tried to remove the knife from his head. You smirked and ran over to your friends. Releasing them from their prison and feeding them some ambrosia, you got on your feet and looked the giant in the eye.
Knowing what was going to happen, you ran towards Athena's cage as Porphyrion's arm swung, demolishing the cage and freeing the goddess. Aware of being set free, Athena regained power and released a wave of light that was aimed at the giant. Porphyrion stumbled as he tried to cover his eyes desperately, but it was too late. The monster turned to golden dust, never to return to his true form again.
☠
As soon as you entered the Big House, you were greeted with anxious faces and smiles. Argus lead the five of you towards Chiron who greeted you happily. When he turned towards you, you saw concern flicker in his eyes. You nodded as you acknowledged his suspicion sadly.
"Welcome, young heroes. You have fought hard and brave, and have kept a sharp mind during your journey. Now, we feast!" He cheered as he had Annabeth, Nico, Jason, and Percy sit down at their tables. You remembered Sapphrenia and looked outside worriedly, only to find that she was in her stable eating.
You felt a hand clap your shoulder gently and turned to find Chiron looking down at you questioningly. "A word please?" He requested as you simply nodded your head and followed him outside. "You do not look so well, Y/n. Are you okay?" he asked as he looked into your eyes.
You gave him a sad, yet soft, smile. "Yes, I am Sir. I had just now realized what the prophecy meant." you responded. Chiron raised his eyebrow and asked you to continue. "The prophecy said that one will leave with four lives, then thy one shall perish. Mr. Chiron, I am the one who received the prophecy, and returned my friends and sister. I am the one who is going to die," you informed him as he stood still, listening patiently. His eyes scanned over your pale complexion and tired eyes and the bones that could be seen all over your body.
"I'm sorry to hear that Y/n. You and I both know that there is no escaping the gods, nor a prophecy. Your fate has been sealed, and your life is writing its final chapter, what are you going to do?" Chiron asked.
"There is nothing more that I am to do. I have been fighting throughout this journey, my main priority has been my friends. I am willing to fight, but I fear that my strength is not enough," you answered as you tried to think about his question a little bit more. Chiron nodded as you began to feel weak. "Chiron, I know that time is everything I don't have, but please, please make sure that everyone is safe." you begged as dark spots began to appear. You heard him speak a simple yet soft, 'Yes' before you fell into your deep sleep.
A light appeared as you traveled through a dark thin tunnel. You headed toward it and were met with a large throne room. All of the gods were placed in their designated positions, all of them looking at you. "How may I come to service for you?" you asked as you curtsied. Looking up, you saw Athena smiling at you encouragingly. Zeus rose from his throne and walked over to you, beckoning Athena and Demeter over as well. As the god and goddesses approached you, you kept a calm composure.
"You have fought bravely, saving your mother in the process. It is no doubt that you have done it with the help of your friends and your powers, am I correct?" The god asked.
"Yes Sir," you responded, confused as to what was happening.
"Now, since you have given your life as a sacrifice, you shall be made anew." Demeter added after your reply.
"Considering that you have the ability to transform into your mother's symbol, it will be that you shall serve us until you are no longer needed," Zeus finished.
You looked toward Athena with confusion. "My daughter, you are now to be a minor goddess. You are now in control of all owls, my symbol. You are to be my apprentice and watch over the earth in your new form." Athena explained as her eyes shone with pride. You smiled and bowed as you felt Zeus, Demeter, and Athena transform you into your new form.
"Be cautious, Y/n, you cannot transform into your human form for long periods of time, by sunset you will change back into an owl and only then you will return to Olympus and resume your natural form." Demeter told you as you nodded your head and flew towards Camp Half Blood. You had a feeling that this wasn't the end, that there will be more adventures along the way, but for now, your adventure had come to a close.
