Marinette searched through the little resources she had about Hawkmoth powers. She had unsuspiously asked Tikki who confirmed the behaviour of the Akuma in Marinette's heart. It gave her relief as the Akuma didn't actually transform her into a slave for Hawkmoth. However, the warning the Akuma said about turning dark scared her. But knowing about the future that she still think is a dream or a trap.

She knew she had to not get Chat Noir miraculous to make that wish. she knows the dangers. and consequences when a wish is made from the Miraculous. So she had that mission aside hoping to find another way and stop the future when Chat Noir turns Chat Blanc. She still doesn't believe Adrien is Chat Noir. She had figured that Hawkmoth before might be Adrien father. However, she couldn't believe how cruel he could be.

Marinette's time was running out as she was going to her darkest path and the was spreading as the Akuma path will take over in control.

When it was the anniversary of Adrien's mother's disappearance. She helps insist on everyone to make a video message. After everyone else has already recorded their messages, Marinette insists that she'd rather record it by herself and goes off to a separate part of the boat, though she is unsure what to say.

'That you can bring back his mom just take his miraculous,' the voice suggested as it appeared during Marinette's most difficult time.

'No not this way'

Marinette had try to control her crush on Adrien. Till she can prove he was not Chat Noir. So when she asks Tikki on what to say, Marinette actually mimicked herself to flat-out tell Adrien that she loves him, though immediately regrets it when she accidentally recorded herself and tries to delete it, only for Tikki to stop her and convince her not to.

'You lie a lot for a hero'

'I do love Adrien.' Marinette argues.

'I thought you can't love him since he Chat Noir.'

'He's not Chat Noir.' Marinette argues angrily.

An embarrassed Marinette gives the tablet the gang had been recording messages with back to Alya to send to Adrien. It wasn't long before Alya announces that Adrien has responded to their messages. Marinette freaks out, unsure whether or not she wants to hear it. They then look at the message "Adrien" sent and are shocked to hear a hateful response to their nice messages.

'Oh look like the start of him turning evil."

'No your wrong, He's not him.'

'All your friends seem to agree so.'

Marinette was right in the end but her hatred of the future grew. Darkening the Akuma inside her. Spreading slowly like a disease. Showing more in Marinette's personality.

In Miss Bustier's class, Marinette overhears Lila tells Nathaniel that she's friends with the best manga publisher in Japan.

'Aww can't handle competition'

'She nothing but a liar' Marinette argues.

When the class began, her teacher called out Marinette to search her bag and find the answers in there for a test.

"Someone put those answers in my bag!" Marinette exclaimed.

'I wonder who' the voice echoed.

When Lila tells Marinette that she's usually so well-behaved, Marinette realizes that she's the one who put the answers in her bag and calls her out on it. But, in the end, it ended with both being sent to the office

"I promised to make your life miserable," Lila says as they walked to the office.

'In a matter of seconds, she turned the class against you'

"I won't fall for any of your traps," Marinette huffed to both Lila and the voice as they walked to the office.

Soon Lila goes down the bottom of the stairs and pretends to have hurt her leg, claiming that Marinette had pushed her. Then claims that Marinette stole her fox pendant and prove her claims.

'See no one believes you.'

'Adrien does' Marinette argues before arguing with Mr. Damocles and insists that Lila is lying and turns to Adrien for help.

"She's making up this whole thing! It wasn't me! I didn't do anything, I swear! You know Lila's lying, don't you, Adrien?"

He almost said something to Mr. Damocles, but he then expels Marinette from school at the moment. Lila manipulated all Marinette's close ones, who turn against her. Anger filling her darkness.

'I thought you didn't believe in the darkness taking over'

'I'm only angry for justice'

Then in a matter of seconds, there was akumas infecting several students and staff inside the locker room, including Marinette. While the others are turned back into their akumatized selves, Scarlet Moth prepares to turn Marinette and Sabine into Princess Justice and Verity Queen with the power to expose the truth in exchange for Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous. Marinette almost removes her earrings without a second thought. Before suddenly they all are deakumatized.

"What happened?" Marinette asked.

'You let the darkness in.' The voice echoed.

'No'

Marinette left the school more concern about being akumatized than Lila. Tikki warns her of the consequences and Marinette knows that she's right and insists that she won't let Lila nor Hawk Moth win. But Tikki doesn't know about the Akuma in her already.

She had gotten support from Alya to do it the right way of finding out the truth. But she fears the worse if she doesn't figure why Chat Noir becomes Chat Blanc. However, it wasn't long before her thoughts were disturbed from Mayura fighting a fake Ladybug on the news with Chat Noir appearing on the scene.

Soon Hawkmoth joins in the battle as he shows up and kicks Chat Noir away from attacking Mayura. He ends up fighting him, and Hawk Moth winds up grabbing ahold of Chat Noir while Ladybug gets ahold of Mayura. Hawk Moth prepares to take Chat Noir's ring, but Chat Noir calls on Cataclysm before he can. Ladybug tells Hawk Moth that she's going to take the Peacock Miraculous from Mayura, but Hawk Moth reminds her that all he has to do is wait a few minutes until the two of them transform back. Therefore, Hawk Moth throws Chat Noir while Ladybug throws Mayura. While Hawk Moth goes to get Mayura, Ladybug catches Chat Noir.

Ladybug catches Chat Noir as he tells her, "You had Mayura right where you wanted her. I could've managed by myself. Why'd you do that?"

Ladybug notice Hawkmoth carrying Mayura and thinks about the future. That his father. Adrien can't ever know that Hawkmoth is his father.

"Because we're Ladybug and Chat Noir. Ladybug by itself doesn't sound half as cool."

"You shouldn't say things like that to me." He then leans in for a kiss but Ladybug sighs as she stops him.

"But the real Ladybug's heart still belongs to someone else."

"I should've guessed that, too." He smiles as his ring started to beep, "I guess I have cats to go."

Ladybug smiled still not believing that he's really Adrien and sent him on his way.

'You know denial is not going to hide the fact that you're in love with him and hurting him the most'

Then after the Akuma Lila confessed she lied proving Marinette to be innocent. Marinette tells Lila that although she doesn't know why she felt the urge to start drama and then later fix it. However, Lila reminds Marinette, "As you said, things aren't always what they seem to be at first sight."

Marinette anger boiled before she calmed down, 'Its still a win'

'For now'

'Adrien was right before that I should let it be. As long as he believes in me that all in matter' Marinette stated to the voice as she left home.

'Believing you? Maybe you should consider the secrets and lies you have under your sleeves'

Marinette ignored it as it was trying to convince her to be the bad guy. Her family treated her with a cake in the celebration that Marinette was innocent. Then they turn on the news to see Lila was in Adrien's latest photoshoot and Marinette is shocked.

Jealously filled in her adding to the akuma darkness.

"Tic toc." Volpina moth chuckled as she passed Adrien who was chained to the wall for another attempt for deafeating Lila.

"You're not going to get away with it." Adrien threatens.

"Too late. Today is when the Akuma takes over causing Marinette on the path to be Lady Misfortune.

"No!" Adrien yelled at the portal that showed the events on the past.

Marinette suddenly felt sick to her stomach as she packs all the bake goods to take for her parents. Her head began to pound and she curled her fists. Anger suddenly burned hot inside her. Flames licked up the sides of her hands. She looked down feeling a sudden chill in her spin. My body felt cold. She looked around at her clothes. She was Ladybug but dark. Her clothes were black with red spots. She grinned evilly a voice inside her head whispered, 'feels good doesn't it?'

'Huh?'

'See the wonders that darkness could bring you? If only you let me take control I could give you everything your heart desires. The confidence to take his Miraculous and end this battle'

"Confidence?"

'Of course, I promise to cross my dark heart.' Laughter reigned mixed in with the screams of the others.

'Marinette! Marinette! The phone?" Tikki's voice echoed.

She opened her eyes and looked around her. The bakery was empty. No one was there, nothing. Just the ringing of her phone.

"Yes, dad I do know where the Grand Paris Hotel is. Me! Late? I'm never late! Okay yeah sure but this time I won't be late, promise." She starts carrying boxes, she trips but catches herself and continues awkwardly out the door.

Once she was outside she throws the boxes after being startled by Luka who catches them. She walks toward him to retrieve them back, "Luka! What are you doing here?"

"I've been thinking of you actually, and I'm pretty sure I found your melody at last. A tune that matches you completely. Wanna hear it?" He asked as he pulled out the guitar.

Marinette smiles as he begins playing the tune on his guitar, "Wow it's- it's incredible!"

Luka nodded, "Mm, it's still not quite right. I can do better. I'm gonna work on it some more."

Marinette's phone rang and she picked up to answer, "Yeah Dad I'm on my way." She says before hanging up and looking at Luka, "Sorry I- I gotta go."

Then Luka pulled out a helmet and helped her get to the Grand Hotel. As they rode they passed a news billboard. She then recalls to when Chat Noir and Ladybug, were sitting on a roof together.

"Oh, by the way, I didn't tell you did I? I have a girlfriend." He announced.

Ladybug looks at him and smiled, although she was a little disappointed, "Really? That's so awesome.

Chat Noir drops his head, "No it's not awesome at all. I just said that to make you jealous.."

Ladybug sighed in relief, "I can't be in love with you Chat Noir, you know that."

"Yeah yeah I get it.." he says as he gets up, activating his staff, "but it still hurts."

Ladybug was about to stop him but he was already gone.

'How long will you torment each other?'

'He's not Adrien. And if he was he's in love with Kagami."

"Hey, are you okay back there?" Luka asked interrupting Marinette's thoughts.

Marinette smiled up at him, "Yes, I am."

Soon they arrive at the Grand Paris Hotel," Thanks, Luka!" She says as she got the pastries and kisses him on the cheek.

I'll find the perfect tune for your song." He says before leaving to make his deliveries.

'And the plot thickens'

'Care to explain what that stunt was in the bakery' Marinette growled.

'That was all you. I was only showing you who you were becoming.'

'I'm not becoming evil'

'Just because you're keeping her in the dark. But your jealousy, anger, and selfishness are getting stronger.'

'Your wrong.' Marinette argues then she tripped as she saw Kagami and Adrien and drop the boxes.

Adrien and Kagami, get up to try and help but are stopped by his Adrien's bodyguard arm and Tomoe staff then let them go help Marinette as she starts to pick up the boxes, "Awe thanks guys but I don't want you to miss the ceremony because of me."

Are you kidding we can't wait to get away," Adrien says.

Kagami agrees, "It's a good thing you're as clumsy as they are boring."

Marinette smile as they all spent the day together. She then realizes what that the voice meant about selfishness. She saw how content Kagami was with Adrien as he played the piano and how they were alike. Then realized it more of their connection when they were with Andre.

"I think your first idea was the best the orange peppermint ice cream for my friends here."

"You sure Marinette?" Andre asked.

Marinette nodded as she then left them to go back to the hotel.

'Now, what with the change of heart?'

'You were right I was being selfish' Marinette comments before tearing up. She then heard Loveeater rampaging the city. She transformed into Ladybug and began to fight it. When Chat Noir wasn't in sight and back to a corner she went to find Master Fu. However, her thoughts were still clouded with Kagami and Adrien when choosing allie to fight Loveater.

'Do you really want Kagami and Adrien together?'

So instead of choosing the Bee miraculous to give to Chloe to help fight her parents. She chose the Dragon charm.

"The dragon, are you sure?" Master Fu asked.

"Yes, I am certain." She says.

'Sure you are'

Ladybug and Chat Noir had a moment where he thanks her for the save after bringing Ryuko, addressing her as Ladybug. She raised a brow and says, "not calling me m' lady anymore?"

"Of course... I, are you jealous of Ryuko right now?"

"Of course not."

But during the battle, Ladybug realized her feelings were in the way. When she couldn't find Master Fu to return the Miraculous that she took for battling Loveater. She was immediately worried but Tikki tried to calm her down.

"But Tikki if anything happens to him it is because of me.." Marinette says.

'Because of your selfishness'

In the end, Marinette had the plan to try to go find him elsewhere. However, she saw Luka who easily read her expression, "You okay Marinette?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." She smiled but she couldn't help trusting him, "No I'm not fine at all." She started to tear up as Luka got down from his bike as she cried into his shoulder, "I'm so tired Luka of all these responsibilities and putting up a front. Of never being able to be who I truly am."

He pulled her closer, "It alright Marinette. You can tell me everything or nothing if you prefer. You can be yourself with me you know. Just yourself."

She then continued to cry as the voice said, 'Its all your fault for being so selfish with your anger and jealousy. You caused this misfortune yourself.'

Then Marinette realizes what she was doing and push herself away from Luka. Only for a brief moment, they continue to converse till Luka had swapped places with Marinette and save her from Miracle Queen's stinger. Marinette started running.

'What have you done now a hero?' The voice echoed.

Marinette ignored it as it has caused her so much trouble already. She then tossed Tikki her treat and transformed into the aqua version of Ladybug and dove into the river. She soon found Chat Noir with relief as he began to ask her about Master Fu. She immediately started to tell him it was all her fault.

"I was confused. I'm sorry I'm such a failure." Her voice expressed in panic.

Chat Noir approached her, "The important thing is to save Master Fu before Sentimonster destroys the shield. And we need a focused Ladybug for that. Forget what happened ok?"

Ladybug then went to hug him, "Thanks Chat you're always there for me."

"Always Ladybug." He says before they go off to battle once again. Ladybug was in a panic as she didn't know what to do to save Master Fu. Till he sacrificed his memories for Marinette to be a guardian. Guilt filled her core because it was her fault that the sacrifice was made. She then made the arrangements to send him away for his own protection. He gave her his keys as he boarded the train. Wayzz was able to tell her what the key was for and found his letter. She had still so many questions that now he wouldn't be able to answer her questions about Hawkmoth Akuma in her. It's all her fault that this happened. Her jealousy caused her selfish decisions that put Master Fu in danger. Her anger toward herself made her heart go darker.

Marinette,

Experiencing loss is a part of life; some people lose their first love.

Some lose the harmony in their relationship. Some people lose hope. Others lose patience, while others lose their soul. Some lose their certainties and some have nothing to lose. Experiencing loss is a part of life. Good things come too. Expect the unexpected. Each first time is an adventure. And who knows how far these adventures will lead you. You find people to whom you entrust your heart as much as they intrust theirs. That trust is sometimes broken.

But can always be restored. Yes, sometimes the road can be windy, you can get lost in the way. But with the help of the right people, .you'll always find the destination. As we grow old we realize life doesn't give us all the gifts we hope it would. I would have loved to tell you all this in person Marinette. But if your reading this it means I already lost my memory but you mustn't be scare and you mustn't be sad. As I was telling you at the beginning at this letter, is that experiencing a loss is part of life but it doesn't define it. Because what really matters isn't whether you win or lose. Its ability to accept changes in ourselves it accepting that if even life doesn't always give the gifts we were hoping for. The real gift is life itself.

The Akuma then took in her sadness as her weakest point. It was completely dark filled with jealousy, anger, selfishness, and loss. All Marinette wanted to do was to fix the misfortunes. This all started because of a secret.

'It is the way of darkness to get everything back. You can be with Adrien. He can be happy. You can be happy because Hawkmoth will be defeated. You can make Master Fu sacrifice worth it. You know what Hawkmoth really wants. All you have to do is give in to the darkness Marinette. Let me take control.'

"Not in your lifetime." She mumbled as she got up and headed with her friends.

"Marinette are you okay?" Tikki asked her with concern.

"I.. yeah. I'm fine." Marinette says as she continued her way.

'You cannot deny that Master Fu wasn't wrong. You have enjoyed the sound of my voice. Its ability to accept changes in ourselves it accepting that if even life doesn't always give the gifts we were hoping for....'

'Accepting change? Being Dark? No.'

'You love the darkness. Admit it Marinette. Why else you would be able to turn me dark. I was just showing you what you were capable of. Now we can fix everything together. Prove that Chat Noir isn't Adrien and that I'm a illusion in your head'
