《Lady Noir (Ladybug x Chat Noir) - Book One》Chapter Twenty-One: Crazy for you

Have you ever felt light on your feet?
The world suddenly seems like a beautiful place to live in?
Nothing and nobody can drag you down?
This feelings, they were all new to me. I felt some sort of tranquility, bliss and happiness.
I barely slept that night, because all of a sudden reality became much better than my dreams and I didn't feel the need to sleep.
However, I did doze off a couple of times. When I was brushing my teeth, I accidentally brushed my eyebrows instead. I nearly put shampoo into my eyes while I was taking a shower. And I nearly stepped on the soap on the ground.
Who am I kidding?
Of course, I stepped on the soap. I slid and fell to my death on the tiled floor. It was painful - but it didn't wipe the silly smile off of my face.
As I grabbed my bag, I noticed that Tikki was eying me cautiously. "You seem happier than usual, Marinette,"
"I do feel happier, today," I beamed at her.
"Any reason why?" Tikki asked, smiling. My smile was infectious and had gotten to her.
I just chuckled. "Curious, are we?"
"So it's a person," Tikki mused out loud.
"What? How did you get that and I didn't reveal anything?" My eyebrows furrowed.
"And it's not just any ordinary person. It's a boy," Tikki continued to decipher.
"Tikki--"
"It's Adrien,"
"Well --"
"He did something to you,"
"Okay --"
"He couldn't have asked you out,"
"Why not?"
"Because that would be rushing things. You haven't even kissed or -- That's it!"
"What's it?"
"You two must have kissed!"
"Oh--"
"And looking at your beetroot face," She narrowed her eyes. "It's more than once,"
I sighed. She had gotten every detail correct. "You should become a detective,"
"I'm right?" She asked, flying up to my shoulders.
I nodded weakly.
"It's about time, Marinette!" She flew into my chest, making me take a step back, but I wrapped my hands around her. "I've been waiting for this moment for a long time!"
Now I felt a little awkward - then again, when haven't I felt awkward? "Umm.."
"Marinette! Hurry or you'll be late for school!" My father called from downstairs.
"Coming, Papa!" I called back. "Come on, Tikki. We need to go,"
"I'm not done with you, young missy. Just wait until it's the two of us again," Tikki gave me a cheeky grin before flying into my bag.
I shook my head at her, with a chuckle as I zipped my bag. Going down the flight of stairs, I dashed out of the house while yelling goodbye to my parents.
My legs began to move really fast because I knew that I would be late if I walked. I'm grateful that I don't live very far from school.
It took me about 5 minutes to reach school and to get to class, after grabbing my book.
Alya was seated with Nino at where Nino usually sat at and Adrien was seated up at Alya's seat. Alya sent me a wink, mouthing 'You're welcome'.
Did she know?
I quickly scrambled into my seat. Placing my bag to my left, I removed my notebook and my pen. Our teacher had left her books here and went back to the teacher's lounge to retrieve something.
"Marinette, move out of my seat!" Chloé snapped, standing in front of me, with her hands on her hips.

"What? But this is my seat!" I frowned at her.
"No. Your seat is there, right next to Sabrina," She pointed to Sabrina who was looking at Chloé in confusion. "I want to sit with Adrien-kins,"
"But he's sitting with me. He came to sit with me. I can't just leave," I looked over at Adrien, who was looking keenly at Chloé and I.
"But you've been hogging him for the past few weeks. It's my turn," Chloé huffed.
"Can't I have a say in this?" Adrien spoke up, making Chloé and I look at him.
"Sure, Adrien. What do you have to say?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I'll sit with Chloé for today," He said slowly, watching me very intently.
Was he trying to see how I was going to react?
I was a little crushed that he picked Chloé over me but I shrugged it off. We weren't dating. He can sit with whoever he wants to.
Besides, I never thought that I would say this, but Chloé was right. I have been sitting with Adrien more than usual.
"Okay. That's fine. I'll sit with Sabrina for today," I nodded my head and got my things.
I paused for a fraction of a second, hoping that Adrien would change his mind. But he didn't. I made my way to Sabrina just as my teacher got in.
Alya saw me and widened her eyes. She turned to look behind, to where I was supposed to be sitting and saw Chloé with a huge smile on her face.
She tore off a page from her notebook, scribbled something on it and threw it to me, while eying the teacher.
Also keeping my eyes trained on the teacher, I slowly opened the paper and read Alya's neat handwriting.
you
I blindly scribbled a reply and tossed it back to her.
I watched as Alya read my cursive handwriting. She crumpled my paper and slowly turned to glare at Adrien. Poor Adrien was so confused and squirmed under her glare.
She gave him an intimidating look for about 10 seconds, before opening the paper again, writing a response and sending it my way again.
I gave her a thumbs up before sparing a glance at Adrien. He was already staring at me. I arched an eyebrow at him, before turning to my notebook to write the notes for the day and I talked a little bit with Sabrina.

Adrien limped towards Nino and I after school. Nino and I just gave each other one look, with a smile growing on our faces and then burst into snickers.
Adrien scowled at us, both.
Alya came skipping behind Adrien, with a big grin at plastered on her face.
If you could put two and two together, Adrien + Alya = A one way ticket to Punchtown - population, four people. Alya, Adrien and her fists of fury.
"So you guys where do you guys want to go?" Adrien asked, after standing next to Nino.
He can't trust Alya or I. How cute.
"I want to go ice skating!" I said, striking a pose. My arms were raised above my head elegantly and my left leg was crossed over my right leg, while I stood on my tippy toes.
"Do you even know how to ice skate?" Nino asked, chuckling at my ridiculous pose.
My jaw dropped. "Are you kidding? If there's one thing that I am really good at, it's ice skating. I'm practically a professional at it,"
"I'm not sure. I could break a leg or something and prom is coming up soon," Alya shot Nino a look, which he tried to ignore.

"I'll be there to help you skate, Alya," Nino replied.
"You know how to ice skate?" Alya asked, blinking her eyes in surprise. I was surprised, too.
"Sure. I'm a pro at it," Nino said, the last part purposely for me to hear. He turned to me with a grin. "Problem, Marinette?"
I didn't know that I was clenching my fists until I relaxed my hands on my pants. "No,"
"So we're going ice skating?" Adrien asked, a little bit bored from the tension Nino and I were having.
"Yes," Nino and I replied simultaneously.
About 15 minutes later, we were at the ice skating rink, getting our skates. It was freezing in here. I wish I went back home to change first, but my competitive and stubborn attitude towards ice-skating got in the way.
Tying my laces, Nino walked up to me. Well, he stumbled. It's hard walking on ice-skates when they aren't on ice yet.
"Ready to be defeated, Net?" Nino asked, sporting a cocky smirk.
"I'm sorry, but that's not on my schedule today, Nins," I stood up and shot him a smirk, too.
"Actions speak louder than words," Nino mused. "We'll see if what you're saying is true,"
"Let's take it to the ice then," I gestured to the ice rink, partly populated with people.
"Fine!" Nino huffed.
We both made our way to the rink and I glided my finger across the door. It was cold, and somehow wet.
"Ready?" I asked.
"I was born ready," Nino replied, and I rolled my eyes.
"Can you guys just skate already?" Adrien and Alya looked at us, visibly irritated.
Nino and I ignored them.
"See you on the other side, sucker," I smirked, before getting on the ice.
For the first few seconds, I was a little bit unstable because of how my feet weren't used to the ice yet, but they quickly adjusted and I found myself gliding on the ice.
I love ice-skating. The techno music that was emitting from the speakers sort of made me feel more awake, not just the temperature.
I did a little twirl, before resuming my race to the end of the ice rink and then making a turn to go back around.
Where is Nino?
I made my way back to Alya and Adrien, who just stared at me in shock, with their mouths slightly parted.
"Where's Nino?" I asked, looking around.
"Eat my ice!" I heard Nino say before he chucked ice on me and went skating away. He span around a couple of times, but not once did he lose his balance.
I used my hand to remove the ice on me. He must have used his skates to scrape the ice out of the ground. Two can play at that game. I did the same and went chasing after him.
Deciding to be silent, I stalked Nino until I was close enough to toss the little iceball I made. I pelted a couple of them at him, as he screamed in alarm.
Doubling over laughter, I leaned on the wall and clutched on my stomach. That was until I saw Nino racing towards me with a very angry look and a couple of iceballs in his hands.
"Yikes!" My eyes lit up in alarm as I began to skate again.
I felt as if we were in a cartoon as chasing music played and Nino was on my tail. It was so tricky to dodge his iceballs, especially since I was in front of him, and I didn't have eyes at the back of my head.
Then, the worst thing happened. Someone stopped a few feet in front of me and I couldn't turn. Not at the speed that I was going at. I knew that I would fall badly.
The person bent over to tie their laces and my mind raced, thinking of what to do.
"Give it up, Marinette! You have to stop!" Nino shouted from behind me. He didn't sound really far from me as I thought.
"Never!" I replied and I continued to go faster.
When I reached the person, I launched my feet off the ground and did a split in the air, while holding my ankles. Once I was over the person, my feet landed perfectly on the ice and I continued skating.
Everything went in slow motion, but it picked up the pace once Nino was able to take a sharp turn and hit me with an iceball.
I groaned at how hard it hit my arm and Nino laughed as we went back to Adrien and Alya.
"Aren't you guys going to come in?" I asked, looking at the two.
They seemed to be contemplating on whether to go through the little door to go over where we were or to make a run for the door to leave the area.
"I'm coming," Adrien said, wobbling over to the little door. He opened it with one arm and put one foot on the ice. Bad move. He nearly slipped and fell, so I rushed to his aid and held his hand.
"You've never skated before, have you?" I chuckled at how he was clutching onto my hand as if he would never let go of it.
"No," He said in a childish manner. My eyebrow arched. He sighed. "Yes,"
"No worries, Adri," I grinned. "I'm here to help,"
We started out slow. All the things that were supposed to help him move were being used so I had to teach him myself.
"When you skate, your legs make a letter 'V' because your right leg moves to the right and your left leg moves to the left," I said. "So let's try it,"
"Try what?" Adrien asked, blinking.
"Were you listening to me?" I asked, frowning, putting my hands on my hips.
"No," He replied bluntly.
I face-palmed myself. "I hope Nino has better luck with Alya than I have,"
"Hey! Don't indirectly insult me when I'm standing right here. Of course I was listening," Adrien rolled his eyes. "My left foot goes left and my right foot goes right go form a letter 'V', right?"
"Right," I nodded my head. "Try baby steps. Do really small movements and we'll see how far that gets you,"
"Um, okay," He said, looking uneasy. "But I'm not letting go of your hand,"
My heart warmed a little at that for some reason.
Adrien did it successfully, to my expectations. I even clapped for him.
"You're doing great. Keep doing that but make the movements bigger, okay? Also, to maintain your balance, don't stand up straight like Nino was doing. He's really good, that's why he can do that," I told him.
"Thanks, Marinette!" I heard Nino shout a few feet away from us. "I always knew you felt that I was better than you,"
I rolled my eyes with a chuckle. I could practically hear the cocky grin in his voice.
"You're quite good, too," Nino added, after laughing.
"Get back to teaching Alya, Nino," Adrien cut our conversation off, glaring at his best friend.
Nino and I exchanged a look.
"So what was I saying?" I paused to think for a moment when it dawned on me. "Oh yeah. I don't know what to call this position but I want you to be like this,"
I kept my back low and my knees were popping forward.
"Oh, I get it. Like this?" Adrien asked, copying my position.
"Yes. Like that. Now make sure to skate in that position. As you skate more and more, you can start to stand up and make your back straight. But that's after skating for some time," I warned.
"Alright, alright. I got it," Adrien said, a little excited. "Let's do this thing,"
Adrien started to skate very slowly, following my instructions and for a few seconds, he was doing it.
"I'm doing it!" He cried out with joy. I was skating slowly beside him because he was holding my hand. I shook my head at how excited he was, but I was smiling.
I turned to see where we were going and my smile disappeared. "Adrien! Watch out for the --"
We both groaned as our bodies slammed into the wall and our backs hit the ground. Even though I was in pain, I started to laugh.
Adrien looked at me with a puzzled look, but he found himself chuckling. "Why are you laughing?"
"I don't know," I replied honestly, laughing even harder. What was wrong with me today?
"You're crazy," Adrien concluded.
Crazy for you, I thought.
"Who wouldn't be?" Adrien looked over me with a smirk written all over his face.
I was confused. Why did he say that? Unless....did I say that out loud?
The smirk on Adrien's face answered my question. My cheeks started to heat up, even though I was at really cold to the point that I was shivering.
"Don't worry, Mari," He poked my nose and began to trace out my facial features with his finger. It was cold, but his touch left a fiery mark on my skin.
His finger traced my eyes, then my nose and finally, he slid his finger over my lips as he whispered, "I'm crazy for you, too,"

The Forgotten Hero
Long ago, in the world of Thyne, the Alliance of the Free Races, a name they had given themselves, summoned a hundred humans from another dimension. Praised as heroes by the people, they rejoiced that they had been able to acquire pure, mana deficient humans that wanted to aid them in their time of need, ignoring the black, archaic slave collars around their necks or the depressed, almost hate-filled expressions that they received when interacting with them. After Ten years of bloody war, the dark races were pushed back deep into their territories. Both sides were near breaking point and desperate to end the war once and for all. In a bargain, the twelve surviving heroes launched a high-risk mission, utilising advanced tactics from their home world to kill the Demon Lord. In exchange, they would be sent home, along with the magically preserved corpses of their comrades, though in truth, they knew that even if they returned, they would never be the same. Legends say that, upon ambushing the Demon Lord in his castle, they finally understood the plight of the world, and in the last act of heroism, sacrificed their lives, sealing him in an eternal prison so his essence would not be able to create another. With the loss of the Demon Lord, and no chance for another to be born, the dark races quickly surrendered and the free races celebrated, honouring the noble sacrifice of the heroes before quickly forgetting about them as they returned to their everyday lives. However, legends are rarely truthful, embellished by the victors in order to earn praise as well as hide the less desirable aspects of their deeds. Trapped in the Demon Lord's throne room inside the Demonic Palace, which even taking a single step on its desecrated grounds is punished by death, two figures remain motionless. They had long run out of insults and threats to trade and now they waited. For what, not even the Gods knew.
