《Lady Noir (Ladybug x Chat Noir) - Book One》Chapter Fourteen: My hair reminded Adrien of Medusa

"Let me bury you," Adrien grinned cheekily. "It'll be fun,"

"What?! And I ruin my favourite pajamas? You're crazy!" I folded my arms.

"Please?" Adrien gave me the puppy-dog eyes with a quivering lip. He looked really adorable.

I looked away from his eyes and decided to face a lighthouse.

"Please?" Adrien begged again, while putting his arm on my shoulder, pulling me towards his broad chest.

"No," I gave him a blank face.

"Pwease?" He held my hands and brought our faces close to each other, his green eyes locking with mine.

I had to look away or else I would be hypnotized in a second. "The eyes!" I hissed as if I was being burned. I pictured a vampire outside in the bright sunlight as I did so.

"Just say yes," Adrien's voice went all smooth and silky. Adrien's eyes lit up. "Great!"

"Great, what?" I asked, confused.

"You nodded your head so I get to bury you in the sand," Adrien made me lie down on the sand. "You're actually still nodding your head," Adrien chuckled.

I held my head and I was very surprised to find out that Adrien was right. I was nodding my head, unconsciously.

I had to hold my head to stop it from nodding. Holding my head may have stopped my nodding, but it didn't stop my blushing.

So I tried to bring up something else before Adrien teases me about how I blush.

"My hair! You're going to ruin it," I whined as tried to sit back up. Adrien got a hold of my shoulders and made me lie back down.

"Don't be such a spoil-sport," Adrien rolled his eyes, before muttering something about women and their hair.

"Why am I letting you do this?" I groaned to myself. The sand was starting to get attached onto my body.

"I'm a charmer, Mari. It's what I do," He wirked at me. He began to collect the sand with his hands and put layers of it on my feet. "I could charm the pants off of you,"

"I'd like to see you try," I snorted.

"Challenge accepted," Adrien's smirk grew. He continued to put sand on my legs until I couldn't see them.

Then he started to apply sand on my chest and abdomen. I must admit - it was a little ticklish. The sand was entering my clothes, and going into all sorts of places, though.

When Adrien's hand brushed through my exposed lower abdomen, I couldn't help but giggle. Adrien noticed this and raised an eyebrow - but he had a small smile on his face.

"Someone's ticklish," He commented.

"I thought that we already established that when you woke me up in the plane, remember?" It was my turn to raise an eyebrow.

He's already forgotten how he woke me up yet it was this morning. The boy has a terrible memory.

"Oh yeah," Adrien snickered. "I am going to sit with you again once we are going back to France,"

I rolled my eyes at the boy and decided to look up at the night sky and shut my eyes. The moon was extra bright tonight.

You could say that it was

Wasn't that hilarious? I made a pun but the only person who would get it is Chat Noir and I left him in Paris.

As much as I hated to admit it, I missed that cat. Every time that I was with Adrien, I thought of Chat Noir, for some strange reason. Maybe because they are both cocky.

I'll make sure to remember to tell him the pun and why I have been missing for a couple of days.

"Oh no," Adrien's voice sounded alarm and he stopped burying my neck. "Marinette, don't move,"

He never says my full name unless it's serious. My eyelids flew open.

"What?" I asked, starting to panic. "What's going on?"

"Something is crawling towards you. I don't know if it's a giant crab or some sea urchin," Adrien stood up slowly and began backing away.

"WHAT?!" My eyes widened. I tried to move but I remembered what Adrien told me. Speaking of Adrien, the boy was trying to make a run for it. "Don't just me here,"

"Sorry. It's every man for himself," He said with the shrug of a shoulder. His eyes widened soon after."Oh my gosh! It's coming closer! I'm out of here!"

"Adrien!" I yelled, not caring if we would wake up the whole hotel, even though it was not too close to the beach. I turned my body left and right frantically until I was finally able to emerge from the sand and run.

"Where is it?" I asked, panic clear in voice. "Where's the sea urchin?"

I was answered with laughter.

"I can't believe that you fell for it!" He clutches onto his stomach as he laughed. His body trembled as he laughed and I felt my cheeks heat up.

I walked to the ocean and scooped up some of the cold, salty water. I chucked it at Adrien.

"That's not funny. It was really mean and stupid of you," I began chuck at him water.

"Awww, you're upset. That's cute," Adrien cooed and teased.

I continued to chuck water at him. I deliberately ignored the fact that he indirectly called me cute. Okay, he said that when I was mad, I was cute.

But nonetheless, he called me cute.

"And you think that hurling droplets of water would do anything to you? Sorry, Mari but you're going to have to try - " Adrien was cut off when I finally was able to hurl a lot of water on his head.

His facial expressions were priceless. First he was really paralysed and looked like he had just seen something terrifying.

Then he started to twitch everywhere and his eye twitched the most.

"That's it. You have crossed the line," Adrien folded his fingers together to form fists. "No onemesses up my hair and lives to tell the tale,"

Adrien lets out a tribal scream just as I was laughing my head off. However, my laughter seized at once when Adrien started to jog towards me.

That's when I took for the hills.

But Adrien, with his athletic abilities and his physique, he was able to catch me and throw me over his shoulder.

"Where are you taking me?" I frowned as I stared at Adrien's footprints.

Adrien refused to answer and jogged to some white and I was flung into the cold water.

"Aaaah!" I screamed as my body tensed to the cold water. I was in a top and shorts, people! In ice-cold ocean water. And it was at night. That makes it even worse.

When I got up, I was shivering, but that didn't stop the hot boiling anger rising up. I could picture the steam coming out of my ears.

Adrien was trembling with laughter. I cupped my hands into the water and threw it at him. Adrien's body froze when he heard me charge at him like I was a bull.

I tackled him and we both came tumbling into the water. Adrien was still laughing for some reason and he flipped us over. His laughter was really contagious because I found myself laughing, too.

I used my body strength to flip us around. I held his wrists and put his arms on either side of his head. This strained his chest and I was able to see his well-defined chest due to the fact that his shirt was wet so I could see all the lines of his chest.

"Take a picture. It'll last longer," Adrien wirked at me.

I felt myself blushing since he had caught me checking him out. I felt Adrien's arms wrap around my waist and pull me down to the water with him.

So we were just floating in the water and Adrien's hand was on my waist so that I didn't float away from him.

"You look like Medusa," He chuckled, while teasing me. "Your hair is flying in all directions,"

"Shut up!" I thwacked his head, and my hand rested on his shoulder.

"Well, at least I got the sand out of your hair. And your clothes," Adrien tried to point out.

"Yeah, and water is way better than sand," I rolled my eyes, my voice oozing with sarcasm.

"Sand is itchy, especially if it goes into the wrong places," Adrien shivered. "I swear, I still remember the day when I found sand inside my boxers,"

I burst out laughing. "Dare I even ask? Never mind, I don't want to know, anyways. That sentence just said it all,"

"Too late because I'm going to tell you anyways," Adrien removed his hand from my waist to put his arm around my shoulder. "Alas, it was but any other ordinary summer holiday and my father decided to take me to the beach - for once. Well, it wasn't his choice. My cousins had invited me to come with them to the beach and my father - for some crazy reason - allowed it,"

"Unfortunately, I didn't have a swimming costume, so I just swam in my boxers," Adrien turned to face me with his glistening eyes. "You're imagining me in my boxers right now, aren't you?"

"No," I lied. "Why would I?"

"You were right when you said that you were a terrible actress. You can't even lie properly," Adrien started to play with the locks of my hair. "So anyways, I was rolling in the sand a lot, so when I went to change into other clothes, you could imagine what I saw,"

"I wish I didn't. Ew!" I wrinkled my nose, as I tried to imagine Adrien pulling down his boxers to see sand in them.

Adrien just chuckled. "We should get back," He stood up and stretched his arms.

He extended an arm to me and I gladly accepted it as he pulled me up. I gasped when I saw how we were floating while we were talking.

It was as if we were floating towards the moon. The feeling was nice. I didn't have a care in the world and I enjoyed staying around Adrien.

"I didn't know that we were floating away," Adrien voiced out my thoughts. "But it would have been really cool. We would just see where the water takes us,"

"We could have ended up on some island," I frowned. "Alone," I had to add to emphasise my point.

Adrien raised an eyebrow, half amused. "So? We could survive,"

"On what?!" I raised an eyebrow in return. I felt like I was being challenged by him.

"Water, coconuts and our love for each other," Adrien winked. My cheeks heated up as my mouth dropped in shock.

"Close your mouth or I'll close it my way," Adrien began to walk back to the shore as I stood there blushing even harder.

After a couple of steps, he stopped walking to look back at me. He held out his hand. "You coming or not?"

"Aww. You want me to hold your hand?" I asked, after looking at his hand. I began to walk towards him. "Are you scared that you'll get stung by a jellyfish or something?"

"I am not scared," Adrien frowned. "I just don't want Alya to kill me if she finds out that I'm the reason for your death,"

"My death?" I asked, with intertwining my hand with his. "Why would I die?"

"Everyone knows how much of a klutz you are, Mari. You could just trip over some seaweed and hit your head or something," Adrien said with a small smile. "But it's not your fault. If I was a girl, I would be falling for me, too,"

I had to roll my eyes at that. "You're so cocky. I am so sure that if it was possible, you would marry yourself,"

"That doesn't actually sound like a bad idea," Adrien pretended to think and I whacked him behind his head.

We walked all the way to my room because it was the closest. We just stood at my front door, gazing at each other.

The tension was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. But it was not the kind of tension that you have with a person that you don't really like.

It was actually the opposite.

My lips were yearning for me to kiss Adrien but I tried to fight the urge. He probably thinks of me as his baby sister. Someone to tease and have a good laugh with.

Still, I let myself have this moment. Life is short, as I have had from many people, so I will try to follow my motto which is: to live, to love and to laugh.

Adrien's eyes left mine a few times, but just to look at my lips before meeting my eyes again.

Why does he keep looking at my lips? Is there something on them? Are they chapped? Oh my gosh, they are probably chapped.

Adrien's hand reached out to tuck my hair behind my ear. He removed his fingers from my hand and I tried not to frown because his hand kept my hand warm and I liked holding his hand. But if I told him that, I come off as creepy.

"You should leave your hair like this more often. It looks better when it's not tied up," Adrien brushed his hair out of his eyes and gave me a boyish grin.

I blushed as I fiddled with my hair and when I looked up again, Adrien was gone.

****flashback ends****

"He did that?! Marinette, he totally digs you! Why do you keep doubting yourself?!" Alya asked me after I recited what happened last night with Adrien and I.

"Because...I don't know," I replied shyly but honestly. "I mean look at me, Alya. I'm goofy, klutzy and a total dork. There's no way he would like me. He is all popular and good-looking. Chloé and him would be absolutely perfect for each other,"

"Do I need to slap some sense into you, girl? Clearly, you need some sense knocked into you. Trust me on this one. I know that he likes you, for a fact," Alya put an arm on my shoulder.

The bus went over a bump and we went up and down. We were currently going to a small bistro for lunch then we go riding on gondolas. A gondola is some sort of canoe which is rowed by a man named a gondolier.

We are going to ride in one before we take a tour around Italy, visiting the famous points around Venice. I would have much preferred Rome but Venice is good, too.

"I don't know, Alya," My eyes scanned the bus before they landed on Adrien. He was laughing with Chloé over something.

I liked the way his face lit up whenever he laughed, but now I didn't like it because I knew Chloé was the one making him laugh.

I didn't fail to notice Chloé twirling her hair and blushing all over the place, like a shy person. Like...me!

That fiend!

She is way smarter than people give her credit for, I must admit. However, she shouldn't try to be something that she is not just so that she could impress Adrien.

On the other hand, Nino seemed to be bored out of his mind. He got out his phone and turned his attention there.

Alya's phone and mine both beeped at the same time. After giving each other wary looks, we both looked at our phones and put them in the middle so that both of us could see who texted us.

As I suspected, it was Nino. Alya's message read:

While mine read:

"Why is Nino saved as Ambulance on your phone?" I asked Alya when I read the message from her phone.

"Because an ambulance's siren always goes 'Nino-Nino-Nino'," Alya imitated an ambulance sound. I chuckled at how ridiculous yet creative that nickname was.

"We should invite him over to sit with us," I suggested and before Alya could intervene, I yelled, "Hey Nino! There's an empty seat right next to Alya!"

Then I turned to give Alya an innocent smile. I could picture the halo above my head.

Nino sighed with relief as he stood up and walked to our seat as the bus drove. I was surprised at how he was able to maintain his balance yet I tripped and nearly hit my head several times when I was walking to my seat.

"Thanks for saving me from my misery," Nino sighed with relief as he happily plopped into his seat. "So let's gossip. I'll start. What the heck is up with Chloé today? She is all over Adrien - more than usual,"

My eyes shifted to the blonde girl giggling and blushing at Adrien. "Beats me," I shrugged my shoulders, pretending to be uninterested.

Chloé had now taken over Nino's seat and Adrien was busy poking her cheek or her nose, while grinning at her.

That's what he usually does to me...

I knew it. He doesn't like me at all. If he did, he would have treated my differently. I'm just a friend in his eyes. Nothing more.

It's not his fault. I must not blame him for not liking me the way I like him. Everyone is different. If he likes Chloé, that's okay. Not with me, but it's okay.

I swallowed really hard. Good moments never last. They happen, alright - but they never last. It's like every good thing comes with a bad thing.

What was really ticking me off though, was why Adrien kept giving Chloé the cold shoulder before and all of a sudden now, he's turned a new leaf and is acting all buddy-buddy with her.

But I dismissed the thought. Everyone deserves to have a happy ending, even Chloé. Maybe Adrien is not the guy for me.

"Earth to Marinette," Nino waved his hand up and down to my face until I snapped out of my monologue.

"I'm back. I'm back. Sorry, I was trying to gather my thoughts together," I shook my head, clearing my head from any thoughts to do with Adrien. I didn't fail to notice the knowing look that Nino and Alya shared.
