《Lady Noir (Ladybug x Chat Noir) - Book One》Chapter Three: Classical music is another word for a lullaby

"And a one, a two, a one, two, three...play!" Our music teacher instructed and began to flail her arms.

My hand began to move back and forth, holding the bow. The bow strummed the strings of the violin. My chin rested on the chin rest of the violin. My fingers began to hold down the different parts of the violin.

Alya pressed her mouth onto the mouth hole of the flute. She held it very gently and played with her eyes closed. Her fingers moved left to right, pressing down the different keys.

Adrien's fingers skimmed through the keyboard of the accordion. He held it against its chest and was able to change the sound to be louder or quieter.

Nino was on the drum set. His hands held the drumsticks tightly and they played gently and quietly on the snare drum. However, he looked bored to death.

Drums were supposed to be played louder, I imagined him thinking. Miss Pierre, however, would have none of that.

She was a firm believer in classical music. Music that was pleasant to the ear in her days. The school had to plead to her to let modern day instruments like the drums to be allowed in her music class.

"No, no, no!" She huffed in frustrations. "The drums are too loud. The flute is too quiet. The violin is not in sync with the other instruments - it's too slow. The accordion is also not in sync with the other instruments - it's too fast. The oboe is playing a different song. The viola -"

All of us cut her ranting short by giving a loud groan. Miss Pierre is too old fashioned, too finicky and such a perfectionist. I thought that we sounded fine.

"What was that, Miss Dupain-Cheng?" Miss Pierre turned her attention to me. She was glaring at me through her small, circular spectacles.

I could feel my cheeks heat up. Did I just say that out loud?

When I didn't answer, Miss Pierre took a few steps closer to me. "To the principal's office, young lady,"

A few people around me gasped. I also gasped. However, I obeyed. Hanging my head low, I put my violin and bow in my violin bag and dragged my feet to the principal's office.

"It's not her fault," A voice spoke up. I turned around, along with everyone else, to hear Adrien speak. "I also thought that we didn't play badly,"

"Excuse me, Mister Agreste, but are you a certified music teacher?" She snapped at Adrien.

I was very touched that Adrien stood up for me. That was the nicest thing he has done to me. I admire him even more.

"No, but I do know that we didn't sound terrible," Adrien replied, frowning at irritated Miss Pierre.

"Yeah. You don't have to be a certified teacher to know about music," Alya stepped into my defence.

"Times have changed, dude, I mean Miss. The music that you listen to is definitely not the kind of music that we listen to today," Nino spoke up.

"No offence, Miss Pierre, but the music that you guys used to listen to is boring. It puts me right to sleep, like a lullaby," Chloé picked on her nails.

I couldn't believe it. Almost everyone was taking my side on this. Even Chloé. That says a lot. Miss Pierre can't send the whole class to the principal's office.

Miss Pierre growled in anger, silencing all the side conversations. "Class dismissed!" She said, her voice laced with anger. She stomped outside muttering something about teenagers and the 21st century.

Alya walked towards me, with an amused expression. She crossed her arms on her chest and raised an eyebrow. "Hmm?" She probed.

"Thanks for having my back Alya," I gave her a smile. My parents would have had my head on a plate and serve it to their customers at the bakery.

Okay, maybe that is a little cruel.

I am the only child after all.

"No problem," Alya put an arm on my shoulder. "But you should thank Adrien. He stood up for you first,"

"Yes. Of course I will. As soon as I get the courage to speak to him," I replied, starting to walk ahead.

Alya's hand prevented me from going anywhere. "Girl, you need to talk to him. If you don't, then Chloé will and he could end up marrying her," She nodded towards Chloé talking to Adrien. Sabrina and Nino just stood there awkwardly.

"But he doesn't like Chloé," I argued, staring at the two. Chloé was leaning in closer to Adrien, while Adrien moved some steps back.

"How do you know? Did you ask him about it?" Alya shot back. If I asked Adrien, that must mean that I've talked to him. Alya had made a very compelling case.

"Fine. You win," I sighed and took a deep breath, gathering up all the courage that I had.

"I won't even tell you what to remember. If I tell you to remember not to do something, you end up doing it," Alya pushed me towards Adrien.

Alya's push was very strong because I nearly fell onto the ground. I closed my eyes, expecting my face to collide with the ground but I didn't feel anything.

I opened my eyes and saw that I was inches from the floor. How am I able to stay in this position?

That's when I was pulled up and I was facing Adrien face to face. I looked at where his hands were. They were placed on my waist.

Cue the squealing.

"Thanks," I said, shifting my feet. "Thanks for defending me against Miss Pierre and for not letting me fall on my face,"

"No problem," Adrien flashed me a smile, which made my heart swoon. "Hey, do you and Alya want to go to the movies with Nino and I? We could use some female friends,"

I nearly choked on my own saliva.

"Er, yeah. Sure. I love you - I mean I would love to - we would love to," I replied, rubbing my neck, smiling back.

"Great. We'll pick you two up at 7," He said. His arms left my waist. He grabbed his accordion and waved at me before leaving with Nino.

I waved back. My hands clasped together in front of me and I pressed them to my chest. My heart was going into overload.

I didn't even notice Chloé and Sabrina were behind me. I didn't even bother to listen to Chloé snap at me. I just walked back to Alya.

"So?" She asked me.

"He and Nino want us to go to the movies," I told her. Alya's eyes widened with surprise.

"They want us to go to the movies?" Alya repeated, as if she wasn't convinced that she heard the right thing.

"Yes. They are picking us up at 7," I began to jump up and down, holding Alya's hands.

Alya began to jump and down, too, and also began to squeal. "Do you think that they'll pick us up in Adrien's limo?"

I stopped jumping up and down to consider the thought. "I wish," I sighed, with so much joy.

"Why do you think they asked us out to the movies?" Alya asked though. She also stopped jumping.

"Because I think Nino has a crush on you and Adrien is his wingman," I poked her nose playfully. Alya gasped.

"That's not true!" Her cheeks began to redden and I began to squeal this time.

"You like him!" I cooed.

"No, I don't," She crossed her arms over her chest again.

"Yes, you do. You're blushing," I teased her. It felt so good to tease her on her crush, not the other way round. Also, I was happy that she liked Nino and Nino seemed to like her back.

"Shut up," She mumbled, still blushing. "Okay. Maybe I like him, just a little,"

"Say no more. I will be your wingman tonight. Wingwoman," I raised up three fingers in the air.

"What about you and Adrien?"

"You're more important to me than him," I told her. "Speaking of wingmen, it reminds me of wings and I am starving. Let's hit the cafeteria!"

We began to walk down the hall to go to the cafeteria. Alya and I continued to swoon over the fact that our crushes asked us.

It would be cool if we all dated. Adrien and I, Alya and Nino. Best friends dating two other best friends. But let me not get ahead of myself.

"Please...stop!" One student screamed. Alya and I stopped midway in our conversation. We gave each other a look and we began to sprint towards the source of the sound.

We traced it back to the music room. Miss Pierre - obviously akuma-tized - was playing the violin, similar to mine. As she played, music notes flew out and hit people. If the person was hit, they were turned into people from the the 1600s and began to play classical instruments.

It was like they were Miss Pierre's slaves.

"Yes! Yes, my wonderful musicians! Spread the culture of the Baroque period to this school, Paris and then the world!" Miss Pierre commanded her army of classical instrumentalists.

I could feel Tikki squirming around in my bag. Slowly backing away from Alya, I looked for a place to transform. I hid behind a large pillar.

"No time to talk, Tikki. It's time to transform!" I instructed Tikki. As usual, my "Marinette outfit" was replaced by my "Ladybug outfit" which consisted of my red-and-black Ladybug earrings, my yo-yo wrapped around my waist, my red-and-black Ladybug jumpsuit and my red-and-black ribbons which tied my hair into pigtails.

"Sorry, but I think there's a snare in your plan," I made my grand entrance by starting with a pun. I swung my yo-yo round and round.

"How clef-er of you, LB," I turned to see Chat Noir leaning on the wall, behind Miss Pierre. "But making puns is my thing. Just stick to being cute," He winked at me.

I grumbled under my breath and rolled my eyes.

"Ladybug and Chat Noir. How nice of you to drop in," Miss Pierre gave both of us a sickenly sweet smile. She began to play the violin, dramatically.

More and more people surrounded us. Even though I was at one end of the room, opposite Chat Noir, we were surrounded to the point that our backs were against each other.

"Guys. We don't want any treble," Chat Noir tried to go the easy way out. As expected, they just drew closer to us. "Well. I tried. Now they've just got a ticket for a cat fight,"

He swung his staff and began to attack his side. I did the same and attacked my side using my yo-yo. I was able to trip some people and tie people with my yo-yo string, pull and watch them spin aay.

"I'm guessing that the akuma is in the violin," Chat Noir said.

"Yes. You're right, but how are we going to get it? She keeps making more and more people her slaves by the second," I pointed out.

"You can't stop me even if you tried," Miss Pierre scoffed. She played another piece and a large cage fell, trapping both Chat Noir and I.

No. It wasn't a cage. It was a box. A musical box which played classical pieces from famous musicians such as Beethoven. However, every second of the song resulted to the shrinking of the box.

"We have to get out of here," Chat Noir hit the box with his staff but it sent this electrical current that made him bounce back and hit the wall. He got zapped again.

"Cataclysm," He yelled. He reached out his hand to touch the top of the box. Surprisingly, the box didn't disintegrate but it stopped the electrical charges around the box.

"Your staff. Up there," I instructed. It reminded me of the time the Evillustrator trapped Chat Noir and I. Only I was Marinette, not Ladybug.

"Great thinking," He grinned. He set his staff down. I crouched down beside him. His hand gripped my waist, pulling me very close to him and it shot up.

I landed with my left leg stretched and my right hand on the ground. Chat Noir landed with his right leg stretched and his left hand on the ground.

"Pop goes the weasel," Chat Noir sang. The musical slaves were no where to be seen. Chat Noir and I looked at each other in confusion before taking off in the same direction.

Chat Noir allowed me out of the door first. I guess chivalry isn't dead as people say.

Miss Pierre was enslaving more students. Her army was double of what she had before.

"Lucky charm!" I yelled, throwing my yo-yo in the air. An electric guitar landed into my hands.

"I got it! In order to defeat classical music, we have to play music of the today. Miss Pierre hates that," Chat Noir snapped his fingers.

"How do you know that?" I asked.

"I go to school here," He shrugged. He dashed into the music room. He pushed out the whole drum kit along with the drum sticks.

"A one - a two - one, two, three, rock!" I counted down. Chat Noir was an amazing drummer, I had to admit. His blond hair was flying wildly as he played. He had no mercy on the drums as he banged and hit them very loudly.

It wasn't loud enough to drown out my guitar, though. First, it was electric and I was able to find an amplifier. I strung my guitar pick through the strings. The loud sound flung Miss Pierre onto the wall.

My hands skimmed through the different sections of the guitar, pressing on different strings, playing different chords. I know how to play the guitar thanks to the music instruments lessons that I had last year.

"Stop! Stop with that horrid music!" Miss Pierre screamed, covering her ears. Soon, her army were following her actions as they moaned in pain.

I took this as a chance to get the violin. I was very successful. I broke it into half using my knee and the black and purple akuma flew out.

"No more evil doing for you little akuma," I unlatched the yo-yo from my hips and tapped it open. "Time to de-evilize!" I threw my yo-yo as far as I could and caught the akuma trying to fly away. "Gotcha!" I brought the yo-yo back to my chest.

"Bye, bye, little butterfly," I let it fly away into the city. I threw up my electric guitar into the air and yelled. "Miraculous Ladybug!"

Everything was restored. Miss Pierre turned back to Miss Pierre. I actually didn't know her evil name. The musical slaves were restored into the students again. The damage caused was removed and it was like nothing bad ever happened.

"What am I doing here?" Miss Pierre groaned as she held her head and looked around.

"Pound it," As usual, Chat Noir and I gave each other fist bumps while grinning at each other.

"You were looking sharp out there, love bug," Chat Noir took my hand and kissed it.

"Can you give it a rest with all the flirting and the puns?" I asked, chuckling. I pulled my hand away.

"Aww, isn't that cute? You're making puns just like me. Hey, you know that you should make Ladybug puns, too," Chat Noir suggested.

"Maybe. But I'll start with one-liners. Every superhero seems to do them these days," I grinned.

Chat Noir's ring began to make some 'beeping' noise. "Gotta go. I'm going to transform soon. Meet me tomorrow evening near Notre Dame at 8?"

"Sure," I agreed. He sent me a wink before leaving. I also went to a hidden place to transform back into Marinette.

I joined everyone else at the cafeteria, served my lunch and sat next to Alya.

"Don't tell me that I missed Ladybug," Alya groaned. "I'm always getting turned into things these days so I don't get to see her,"

"Don't worry. Maybe you'll have better luck next time," I patted her shoulder. If only she knew that she was best friends with Ladybug. If only she knew that I was Ladybug....but it's best if people don't know.

I might tell Chat Noir though. He was right. There might be a time where he'll need to know my identity - but as for now, it'll be for me to know, and for him to find out.

"I still can't believe Adrien and Nino asked us out!" I changed the subject. Luckily, Alya didn't notice. She got excited.

"I know!" She was grinning from ear to ear. "I can hardly wait!"
