He calmly stared back at the shadow. Deep in his heart, he vaguely knew this shadow’s identity. As to why... instinct. However, it may actually because of his heart. Am I really missing him...? He thought as he felt the change in the shadow’s gaze on him.

That day, as he was having his class, he felt an ice chilling aura. He raised his head, only to see his students silently watching him as he recited the code of ethics of the clan. Immediately, he left, worried, since he thought it was a malicious ghost. However, what he saw surprised him.

That purple robe, the night black hair splashed against that broad back... and those large but surprisingly gentle hands crossed on the back of the waist...

He first thought it was Jiang Cheng, but then noticed the chilling aura, and so it was a ghost.

Also Jiang Cheng is small compared to –

“... Jiang Fengmian...?” he muttered under his breath.

He told the elders of the clan about it, but didn’t disclose its identity. As to why...

And so, knowing that they’d misunderstood him – thinking he’s going senile, yet remained tight-lipped, he left.

“Why are you following me?” he asked and looked as the shadow started to take shape – just like that day.

It knew he found out who it was.

“Qiren.”

Lan Qiren felt his breath hitched. “... Jiang Fengmian.” He said as he saw that gentle and kind face again.

“... you know why I’m here.” Jiang Fengmian said.

Lan Qiren didn’t answer. He just smiled and lowered his head. A tear fell on the ground, and a white flower grew and blossomed where it fell.

Yes. He really missed him.

Note: Jiang Fengmian didn’t suddenly appear before Lan Qiren. But it’s because Lan Qiren, tired to death of his life, badly missed his man and so he (not) intentionally ‘unknowingly’ summoned Jiang Fengmian’s spirit. As to Jiang Fengmian’s identity, maybe this is why he didn’t tell the elders and just chose to bear the title of being senile.
