《The Insemination》Chapter Fourty-Two

Jake starts to blink in disbelief. He then blow out some breath and starts pacing. "Oh man," he says. "Oh man, oh man, oh man. I didn't think you were going to agree," he admits.
"That's what you get for not knowing your opponent," I smirk.
"I can't do this," he says.
I hurry off of the bed and walk to him. "Hey, your a damn werewolf, okay? Your saying that you can't do this?" I smack the back of his head.
"Ouch," he fusses. "Are you sure your not a vampire or something? Cause your aggressive as hell."
I laugh. "I'm all human. Now, go on." Jake takes another deep breath and starts to walk out of the door. He then turns around and smiles to me.
"Aphrodite," he says.
I give him a confusing look. "Come again?"
"The goddess of love. Aphrodite."
I roll my eyes. "I'll turn into Athena if you don't go," I laugh. Going to grab a pillow, I turn around and throw it at him. He quickly dodges it and sticks his tongue out and leaves.
I start laughing. Maybe werewolves aren't all that bad. Looking to the bay window, I think about confronting Ezra, and get scared.
"It's not like I can lie to Jake if he asks if I held up my end of the deal," I say out loud. Taking a deep breath, I go the the vanity mirror and fix my hair. "Okay. You can do this," I smile.
Leaning back in the chair in my study, I can't stop smiling. For the past hour, I've done nothing but thought about seeing the baby for the first time. To describe the feeling seems as if it could take away the excitement. To see my first child's tiny body, to heart that strong heartbeat.
"I feel like I'm dreaming," I say to myself.
My thoughts the turn to Irina. "She hates me," I say out loud, hurt by the words even coming out of my mouth. "Maybe I brought this on myself." Rubbing my hands through my short hair, I smile as I remember a conversation Irina and I had a month ago.
"So more werewolves are going to around here?" Irina asks with a shaky voice.
"Irina I've told you once before, they won't harm you. If they do, I'll kill them," I say flatly.
"Yeah I know. And I hope you recalled what I told you."
"Yes yes the whole liver thing. Look, they are coming here whether you like it or not," I say walking away.
"You know, if your hair wasn't scruffy and shorter I might like you more!" Irina shouts.
I smile.
"How crazy must I be for this woman to go and cut my hair?" I say under my breath.
Hearing small shuffling outside the door, I sit up in my chair. Is that? Sniffing the air, I can smell Irina's scent on the other side of the door. What is she doing? Why is she outside my study?

On the other side of the door, I can hear Irina coming to and from the door. I hear her mumbling. "Just knock on the door. Don't knock on the door. Say you have gas! No Irina that's stupid. Say you have the wrong room! What am I saying? I can't say any of those things!"
I smile at how adorable her ranting and how nervous she is. To help ease her being frantic, I say "Come in."
Hearing the doorknob twist, she pushes the door open and sticks her head in. "Hey there," she chuckles. I can tell she's nervous. I smile hard on the inside, but remain calm on the outside. "I um," she says as her voice goes down. My heart starts to pound faster because I still have no idea why she's here.
"We need to talk," she finally says stepping all the way into the room. She fiddles with the bottom of her shirt, and avoids eye contact. I start to think the worst.
Before she has the chance to say anything else, an idea hits me. "Let me show you something!" I quickly say.
"Ummm, okay. What is it?" She asks trying to hide the excitement in her voice.
"It's a surprise. I have to show you," I smile standing up. I bend down and open the drawer to the right and find a dark purple tie that goes to one of my suits.
"What's that for?" She asks crossing her arms.
"Humor me," I smile.
"If humor is what you want I can go get my taser," she says back.
"I won't hurt you," I say trying to remind her that her life matters to me.
"Yeah, funny that you say that," she fake laughs. "Because, I don't know, there was that one time where you bit me!"
I flinch a little at her words. "That's different Irina, and I know you don't understand. Just, please," I beg.
Her body starts to relax a little as she unfolds her arms. "Fine," she gives in. "Hurry up before I change my mind."
Not wasting any time, I walk to her and turn her around. Touching her arm, I feel an electric shock. I can tell Irina does too because she moves a little.
"If you shock me again with your static I'll shock you with my taser," she says.
I chuckle. "You just love that taser of your don't you," I say tying the tie around her eyes. "To bad I threw it away," I tell her.
She gasp. "I can't believe you! Ugh! Why would you throw my taser away!"
I smile. "You'll see."

"I still can't believe you threw my taser away," I say angry. I loved my taser. We established a brilliant relationship together, and yet he threw it away. Hearing the leaves crunch beneath my feet, I yearn to take the tie off of my eyes. I feel a small breeze but the sun provides enough heat for the air to feel just right.

"So are teasers your weapon of choice?" Ezra asks. His hand is in mine as he pulls me to this "surprise" he wants to show me. I try not to react from our hands touching.
"My weapons of choice are a shotgun, and a sniper rifle. Those are my favorite."
"Really?" Ezra asks with shock in his voice.
"Yeah. Just hand me one and I'll show you," I joke. I can feel Ezra tense up a bit. "I'm joking you know," I say frowning.
"Joking? You? It's really hard to tell with you," he laughs.
"Ha ha bite me," I say without thinking. "On second thought, don't. Are we there yet?" I ask.
"Yes," he says. Feeling the tie around my eyes become lose, I soon feel the suns ray on my eyes. Slowly opening them, I blink rapidly trying to get my eyes adjusted. When I am able to finally see clearly, I gasp. "Ezra," I say lost for words.
The field is wide, with vibrant green grass. Trees stood proud with multi color leaves decorating the branches showing it's fall, and colorful flowers in almost every direction flooding the ground. Boulder rocks are stacked hear us and a stream is in front of them. With the steam near, you can see fish swimming through the water. In the distance, the trees are parted in a path that allows you to see the sun setting perfectly.
"This is beautiful," I finally say looking to him.
"Thank you. I did this myself," he smiles.
My jaws drop open. "You? You did this?"
"Why the tone of surprise?" He asks lifting an eyebrow.
"Because your a killer," I say without thinking.
Ezra looks away. I can tell I've offended him. I reach out and grab his arm. "This is what I wanted to talk to you about. I'm sorry," I say. Finally saying the words I've been dying to say, I feel much better.
Ezra turn to look at me. "Why are you sorry?"
"Because I don't try to understand you. I never have. I just judged you based on what you are. I threatened to take your child away, and thought about having an abortion, which I'm sorry for little bean," I say looking down at my stomach and rubbing my belly.
Ezra laughs. I turn my attention back at him. "You just have to understand Ezra, this situation is not easy for me. I went through life understand what fantasy was, which is actually reality. Werewolves, witches, and vampires? Put yourself in my shoes, you'd freak the hell out too. I should've spent more time trying to understand you."
Ezra looks at me with pure understanding. His face then gets soft and he looks towards the scenery. "I'm sorry too. I forced you into doing a lot of things. I couldn't help myself though. People are out to kill you and the baby, and my alpha mode just kicked in and I just had to protect you. I have to protect you. No harm can come to you Irina, and I mean that with or without the baby."
I feel myself suddenly finding it hard to breathe. My heart starts beating faster and my hands become sweaty. "Why?" I ask. "I thought you hated me. I, I thought you only cared for Yuri. Why would you want nothing to happen to me if I wasn't pregnant?"
"Because Irina, I'm falling in love with you," he says with a boyish grin.
L-love?
My heart starts to beat even faster. "I didn't know you felt that way. I, I thought you only cared about me because of the baby."
"I did at first, but you grew on me," he smiles. "And it's okay if you don't feel the same way. I did drag you out of your life, and I know getting use to what I am will take time. I'm a killer, what can I say?" He says shrugging his shoulders.
Feeling curious, I try to understand him more. "So were you, born like this?" I ask.
"Yes. Though my siblings are different."
My eyes go wide. "You have siblings?"
Ezra laughs. "Two sisters, three brothers."
"Wow. Okay. Big family. How come you ever speak of them?"
"We all have our problems," he says drifting off in his words. I can tell he doesn't want to talk about it. So, I decide to change the subject.
Looking at the sunset, I sigh. "I can't lie."
He turns and looks at me funny. "I mean it," I tell him. "I'm not allowed to lie. I lied once when I was little. I almost died. It's like my oxygen gets cut off and feels as if someone is stomping on my chest. I have the ability to tell if someone is lying, but I am not allowed to lie."
"No wonder why you were always straight forward with me," he laughs.
"Yeah. But, your not so bad," I laugh myself. Feeling the urge and boldness to tell Ezra how I feel about him, I hear a rustling noise.
Ezra snaps is attention to the woods behind us. He sniffs the air and I can see his eyes starting to turn black. "Run," he tells me. I look at him in fear. He looks at me and I can see his eyes are black with a gold ring around the pupil. "Irina run!" He shouts.
Doing as told, I start to run in the direction I assume is home, and try not to turn around at the snarling sounds behind me.
