《The Insemination》Chapter Thirty-Four

Hearing a noise, I bolt up out of my sleep and feel my chest rise and fall hard. Wincing from moving to fast, I look left and right to find nothing. Seeing a shadowy figure by the door, I freeze. Feeling my breathing quicken, I try not to panic.
"It's me," says a husky voice closing the door.
"Ezra? Ezra what in the hell are you doing here? Trying to give me a heart attack?" I ask trying sit up in the hospital bed to see him.
"No, no, no," he says rushing to me fast. "Don't get up."
"What are you doing here?" I ask again trying to wrap my head around what is going on. "You cannot just come into someone's door like that-," I rant on until I hear him ask something I never thought he would.
"Can I lay with you?"
I stop the rest of my sentence. "Y-you want to lay with me? But why?" I ask confused. "Are you okay? What's the matter?"
"I don't want to leave you to sleep alone," Ezra says stepping towards the bed and into a bit of light from the small lamp in the room. Looking at his face, he looks worried, angry, and lonely all in one. Feeling something tug at my heart, I smile.
"Okay," I say doing my best to scoot over. "This isn't a very big bed you know."
Ezra smiles bright as I hear him take off his shoes and what sounds like his shirt. Lifting my cover across my face, I try to hide my blushing.
And then I do what any other woman would do. I peak. Oh sweet mother of God. Is that an eight pack? Irina did you just invite a man to come fall asleep with you? What is wrong with you? Oh sweet cinnamon rolls, his body is like a god. Zeus. The god of all gods.
Biting my bottom lip, Ezra finally gets in the bed and lays on his side facing me. Feeling like I'm between a rock and a hard place, I try not to move. Suddenly feeling pain, I wince a bit. Shifting, I try to get comfortable but fail. All of a sudden, strong arms wrap around me and pull me in close softly. Holding my breath, my eyes go wide as I feel Ezra's breath on the back of my neck making my hair stand on edge.

Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Breathe, just breathe. Think of something, anything to help you not think about this man being so close to you or how perfect his body temperature is or how much he smells like the sweet smell of apple cinnamon.
Taking a moment to think about coffee, my mind soon pushes coffee away and brings me back to the fact that Ezra is asleep next to me as I am wrapped in his arms. Of course coffee can't help me in this situation. A few seconds later, I hear a tiny snore and realize that he is asleep. My body relaxes as a small smile forms on my lips.
I find myself snuggling in a bit as my eyes fall back heavy before I know it. Feeling as if this situation was wrong, I felt like I never wanted to be right. Having my eyes drop low, I soon find myself submitting to darkness, for I seem to have felt like I was at peace.

"Is that everything?" Scott asks putting my fourth suitcase down next to the others by the door. "Are you even sure you want to go? I mean, you don't know anything about this guy."
Sitting in my temporary wheelchair, I look at Scott with sad eyes. "Scotty, he's the father of my baby, and even Amelia agreed that I should move in with him. It's just until I feel safe. He helps me feel safe." Looking from my bandaged arm to my leg, Scott kneels down and takes my hand.
"It's not your fault," I tell him, knowing what he's thinking. "Nobody could've stopped the wreck."
"Why don't I make sure that's everything?" He says standing. Watching him walk to the back, I direct my attention to window. Squinting my eyes from the morning sunlight, I hear Scott returning. Turning to him, I see the look in his eyes.
"I know it hurts you to see me like this. What happen with you and your lady friend?" I ask trying to redirect his attention.
"She's okay. I don't like her that much," he says looking away. Feeling pain in my chest, my eyes go wide.
"You love her!"
Scotts mouth drops open. "What the hell Irina!"

"You do! Oh my word. Scott, your growing up on me," I joke wiping away a fake tear.
"Oh shut up," he laughs. "She's different. Makes me laugh, she makes food-."
"Of course. Thinking of your stomach. Remember Maria from elementary school? We all had to cook a dish from our culture and she made chimichangas. You said those were the best chimichangas you ever had and you got on one knee and asked her to marry you so she can feed you?"
Scott erupts in laughter. "I want a woman that can cook. What can I say? Hey, I love food. Don't you?"
Laughing, we hear a knock on the door making us settle down. "That must be him," I say. Scott nods his head and walks to the door. Opening it, Ezra's eyes land on me, but then to Scott. His eyes go hard. Scott's eyes are hard too.
"Ezra, this is Scott. He's my roommate. Scott, this is Ezra."
Smiling, I watch as the too don't exchange words or even stops staring at one another. My smile fades. "Scott, why don't you take my bags down for me. Okay? I'll get Ezra to carry me."
"Sure thing Irina," he says turning to me with a smile. Moving to pick up bags, he looks back to Ezra with his smile gone. Standing in the doorway with my bags, Scott doesn't move. They just stare at each as if this was the worlds intense staring competition.
"Can somebody please blink! Your scaring me," I say.
Moving out of the way, Ezra lets Scott by. "What the hell Irina?" He growls once Scott leaves. "Your roommate his a man? A man!"
"Yeah," I say dragging the word out. "What's the problem with that? Amelia told me she called you and said Scott was going to pack my bags."
"When she said "Scott" I thought she meant some gay guy that looked a little ugly but passed off cute. I don't trust that guy."
I feel a pain in my chest. Smiling, I say,"No, your just afraid that he's not gay and he's a super hunk that I live with." Ezra looks away with hard eyes. "Oh come on! He's like a brother to me. We've never done anything. At all."
"Ever?"
"Ever. Geez, why do you care? Don't you have Yuri to worry about?" I joke.
"I just wanted to make sure this kid was mine," he mumbles.
My eyes go wide. "You said that you believed me." Scoffing, I look at him. "You think I would've tracked you down if this wasn't your baby? Or as if I'm just out here with everyone? I'm not like that!"
Suddenly I start to cough uncontrollably from my sudden burst of shouting. Wheezing, I grab my chest as if that would stop the sharp pain rippling through my chest.
"Irina?" Ezra says rushing straight to my side.
Feeling tears rolling down my cheeks, I see Scott walking back into the apparent. "Irina!" He shouts pushing Ezra out of the way. Kneeling, he starts to rub my back and help me control my breathing.
Slowly breathing in and out, I hear the refrigerator open and close. "Damn it Irina. If this is going to be happening, you don't need to go anywhere," Scott declares.
Ezra soon walks to me with an open bottle of water and a apologetic look. Taking the water, I drain it as if it was the last water I would ever get. "I'm okay Scott," I breathe finishing the bottle.
"I don't trust this guy," he warns. I smile. "Yeah well neither do I. Well not fully. I'll be fine. While I'm gone no screwing in places I either eat or sleep. When I come back I want to feel clean."
"No promises," he chuckles. Kissing the side of my head, he stands up and moves out of the way so Ezra can lift me. Wincing from being moved, I smile one last time at Scott before watching him close the door behind us.
Being carried down the hallway to the elevator, Ezra speaks. "You said when you come back? Why?"
I look at him in confusion. "Because when I'm better I'm coming back home."
"No your not," he says flatly.
"Excuse me? Ezra, what do you mean I'm not?"
"Your moving in with me. Permanently."

Memoirs of A Healer/Clinical Social Worker: Autobiography of Bruce Whealton
A loving spouse. A healer. How does this person cope with evil villains willing to destroy everything? They convicted the victim... now how does the victim goes on with life as a healer? As the book opens, I was in a psychiatric hospital following a suicide attempt in December 2019. What starts as a simple conversation with another patient changed my life. Most of the rest of the book tells the reader how I got to this point. I experienced profound injustice between 2004 and 2006. By opening with a story about suicide, I want the reader to understand that the injustice was not just something that happened long ago. This book is an account of all the accomplishments and successes that I had in overcoming tremendous odds and challenges. Growing up, I was paralyzed by shyness and lacked social skills, and so the idea of becoming a psychotherapist never occurred to me when I went off to college. I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life. I will fight against the injustice of the past and offer my gifts to the world. I have so much to offer. I have quite a story to tell. I hope you will help me to move on with my life.
