《The Insemination》Chapter Twenty-Four

Feeling anger rise in me, I reach for the nearest thing close to me and grip it. Chunking it against, the glass shatters against the wall and falls to the floor. Looking at the broken vase, I sigh.

"That better not have been what I think I was," I hear a deep gruff voice say in the hallway as the door to my office is open.

I run a hand through my hair. "Yes, that was the my mothers case I got for her birthday when I was ten."

"I do not want to be around when she see's that," he says stepping out of the hallway and into my office. "Why the sudden burst of anger?"

"I can't seem to find anything about this Irina woman. It's driving me mad. I mean, she has no records of anything. Not a birth certificate, parents, school, nothing," I say trying to figure out what to do next. "Everyone has a record. It's as if she doesn't exist."

"Maybe she is just a simple girl," he says walking the black chair across from my oak desk. As he sits down, I run another hand through my hair again.

"She cannot be a simple girl. She called me alpha," I tell him looking at his face.

I watch as his mouth drops and his eyes widen.

"Good. that was the reaction I was looking for," I tell him as I lean back in the black chair of my own.

"What? How? When?" he asks sitting up in his chair.

"It was a couple of days ago. She was asleep when she said it. She has to know something! She pregnant with my baby!" I yell as I pick up the glass crystal vase. Before I have the chance to throw it, he jumps out of his chair and snatches it from me.

"You are not appreciating the fine things in life. This is why we cant have nice things now," he tells me as he holds it in his arms. He moves his blonde air from his face and scowls me as he places it back on my desk.

"Rick, how is Jake?" I ask remembering his fight with the wolf that almost attacked Irina.

Rick's face softens as his blue eyes darkens. "He's doing better. You should've let me go with him. He wouldn't have been injured."

"I needed you with the other team. If you were not there, I would have been planning funerals," I growl.

"Your right," he says as he lowers his head some. "So, what is it that you exactly plan to do about the mother of your child?"

Taking a deep breath, I sigh loud. "She doesn't want to move in with me. It's not like I can drag her either. I need this baby Rick, you know that. And the fact that she is carrying it makes me just want to be around her and have her close."

"I'm still wrapping my head around it. What does Yuri have to say about it?" Rick asks with a hint of amusement in his eyes.

"Are you really enjoying this? Why do you hate her so much?" I ask frowning.

"Whoa, hate is a really bad word. My mother taught me that it was. I think we can use the words, strongly hate. Now that, that sounds about right. My father at least agreed on that word," Rick says with a smile. "It's not that I hate her, it's more that she's a money hungry bitch that's waiting for you to mark her so she can rule."

As least someone has the balls to say that out loud.

Laughing, I start to shake my head until something hits me. Father. Mother. "Rick your a genius! I know how we can find out information on her," I say standing from the desk. I start to pace as I think of how I will see my plan through.

"What are you thinking?" Rick asks sitting up in his chair.

"How else to see her bloodline than to do a DNA test," I smile as I continue to pace.

"Ezra, what the hell makes you think she will give you any blood?" Rick asks in confusion.

"You let me worry about that," I say as I stop pacing as my smile deepens.

My laughter fills the empty café as Noah laughs himself. Feeling a small tear fall from my eye, I wipe it away as my laughter starts to die down.

"But it's true," Noah says as his laughter dies down itself.

"I know it's true or else I wouldn't be laughing this hard," I say chuckling.

"Where is everyone?" Noah asks as he looks around the empty café. Only a light was on over our table as the rest of the building is pitch dark. "Are we even suppose to be in here?"

"Rosa told me to close up the café when we leave. I have keys to the building, I can stay here for as long as I want. Rosa views me as family," I smile.

"Speaking of family, where is yours? I didn't hear you speak of them."

All laughter in me dies as I look away and start to fiddle with my fingernail's. "I um," I say as I think of what to say. "I don't really know my family. My parents died when I was young, and my adopted family left one day when I came home. Just a note, their money, no reunion, no nothing. There is just me."

"Oh. I am so sorry Irina. I didn't know," Noah says as his voice sounds with pure sincerity. "I ruined the night didn't I?"

"Kind of," I tell him honestly. "Maybe it's time we get out of here," I smile. Standing from the table, I gather my things as Noah does the same.

"I really had a great time," he tells me while walking to the door.

"Thank you," I tell him as he holds the door open for me. Walking out, I dig for the cafe's keys in my purse. Once I feel them, I pull them out and jiggle them in my hand until he steps out of the café. Closing the door behind him, I put the key in the lock and lock it. Pulling the door handle, it doesn't budge.

"I did too," I say turning around. Feeling a rock under my foot, I stumble backwards and turn around to feel his strong arms around me. As I open my eyes, I find myself looking into his as our lips are inches from each other.

"Thank you," I say as it barely passes as a whisper.

"Your welcome," Noah says helping me on my feet. "I really did enjoy our time together. I haven't had this much fun in which seems like forever. Maybe, we should do it again?"

"Maybe we should," I smile.

"Can I walk you to your car?" he asks with his boyish smile. I nod my head yes as I walk ahead of him.

"So, does this mean I am allowed to text and call you?" Noah asks clearing his throat.

"If you want to ask for my number, just ask," I laugh as we turn the corner of the café and my car comes into view.

"Okay. May I have your number?"

I burst into laughter as he does the same as we finally reach my car. Grabbing my phone from my back pocket, I contain the rest of my laughter as I put in my password and go to new contact. "Here," I say handing it to him.

He takes my phone from me and smiles as I see him tapping on the screen. After a minute has passed, he hands it back to me. "Why do I feel like a high school boy?" he laughs.

"I think its cute," I smile.

"Oh do you now?" he asks with a grin.

I wink at him as he comes to the driver side and opens the car door for me. Once I get in, he closes the door and waves at me. Once I see him step away from the car, I release a breath I didn't know I had built up.

"Wow," I say as I put the key in the ignition. "Irina you are in over your head with this man."

As I back out of the driveway, I smile to myself as my heartbeat starts to rise. I haven't felt this way in so long. Should I date him? I mean he hasn't even asked me out yet, but clearly there is some connection. Or am I reading into this to much? What if he doesn't want me when he finds out I'm pregnant?"

Doing something I haven't done all day, I place my hand on my flat stomach and smile. "Would be nice for you to have a daddy," I smile. "Today has been one of the greatest day's my little one." Yet, I still feel as if something bad is coming.

Placing my hand back on the steering wheel, I smile as I start to hum a tune out loud and stop at the red lightly. "So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover, that I know you can't afford, bite that tattoo on your shoulder, pull the sheets right off the corner of that mattress that you stole, from your roommate back in Boulder we ain't ever getting older," I sing as my humming turns into words as I wait for the light to turn green.

Seeing a bright light shine into the car, I know a car is behind me, but as the light shines even more, I look in the review mirror and see it coming closer. My singing stops as I focus on the car even more as I notice the speed of it.

My eyes widen and my heartbeat starts to quicken as I see the lights coming closer and closer. "No," I say in shock as my words pass out more as a scream as I clutch my stomach close. "Please God no!" I scream as the lights come closer and closer. Putting the car into drive, I slam on the gas as I look both ways and see no cars, but as I feel the impact of the car hitting mine, I scream loud as I feel the back of the car being hit so hard, that it flips in the air.

Tears start to stain my eyes and I clutch them close as the window glass shatters and hits my body, as I never once move my clutched hand from my stomach. My screams become in sync with the crashing of the car as I feel myself being thrown around with it.

Feeling the car now roll, my head smashes against the steering wheel and hits the side of the car as I feel like coming to a slow stop. Feeling my body ache all over, I start to cough as I notice blood spitting out as I do. My eyes get heavy as I feel the beating of my heart slow down.

"Ezra," I hear my voice whisper as my world fades to black.
