《The Insemination》Chapter Nine

Arriving at Mr. Sushi, the restaurant that have been in Mr. Lees for generations, I hurry and park my car, turn it off, grab my keys and my phone and rush from the car into the back door. I scurry a bit faster as the rain pours down on me.

"Hey Irina," greets some co-workers as I greet them back. Making my way through the enormous kitchen, I find Mr. Lee fussing at a chef in his native language.

"Mr. Lee," I call out.

"Ah Irina, they are upfront. Hurry, hurry. Don't leave them waiting," he says going back to the fussing at the cook. I shake my head and laugh as he has always been the pushy type of person.

Making my way through the doors and to the front of the restaurant, I look left and right trying to see this mystery person. I notice a tall figure at the registration desk. As he turns around, he smiles at me showing perfect white teeth.

"Hi, my name is Ezra," he says sticking his hand out as he walks towards me. Taking his hand I shake it still wondering if I had fallen into a slumber on my way here and was dreaming.

"It's Irina right?" he asks. At the sound of my name rolling off his tongue, I realize this isn't a dream.

"Yes," I finally say dropping his hand. "Is there a reason why you called me up here or anything I can help you with?"

"I called you down here because we never gave you your tip," he says digging into his pocket. He pulls out a white envelop and passes it to me. Hesitating, I take the envelope from him and start to open it.

"The tip is from my friends and I," he starts to say as I open it to see a couple of hundred dollar bills. My eyes widen as I run my fingers through the bills. All hundreds.

"We forgot that we didn't leave you anything, and the guys and I felt bad for what happen."

"I cannot accept this," I tell him closing the envelop and passing it back to him. "This is far to much. You can feed starving people in the world with this, and you want to give it to me as a tip? No way."

"You earned it fair and square," he says as to looking into my eyes as I look as his beautiful hazel ones. His black hair falls a bit into his face and with one hand he runs his fingers through it pushing it back.

Feeling heat on my hand, I realize that took my hand in his. "How is it?" he asks looking at the bandage on my hand. I forgot it was even there.

"It's good. Doesn't really hurt at all," I say taking my hand out of his. "Can you take this back so I can leave?" I ask him.

"No. That is your tip. Do you honestly want me to take it back?" he asks raising an eyebrow.

Knowing I can't lie, I pull the envelope back and tap against my thighs. "Yes. Money is not an issue for me because I have more than enough," I say truthfully. My foster parents made me the next generation rich girl. I just never decided to tap into it as much.

"You are a very honest person," he says watching me. "Please, keep it."

"Is that all you wanted?" I ask him feeling the urge to leave. His smile fades and he has more of a serious look on his face.

"Yes," he tells me. I feel a pain in my chest. Liar. "Okay," I say starting to walk off until I feel his hand grab my arm. I snatch from his grasp.

"I'm sorry," he laughs. "Your eyes, they just did something. I wanted to ask you about that."

"My eyes are personal. This here," I say lifting the envelop and shaking it a bit. "This is business. Now, if you'll excuse me."

Turning around, I walk from him and into the kitchen. "He's gone Lee," I tell him.

"Good. Good. Young fellow give me two hundred bucks just to see you when I said no. You didn't do anything bad did you? Are you in trouble?" Mr. Lee asks walking to me from the sink where he was washing his hands.

"Of course not," I smile at him. "Take care guys," I say walking to the exit as I hear goodbyes.

Why does he want to know about my eyes? I mean sure they are different, but why the eagerness to ask?

Maybe it was because when someone lies to me both of my eyes would turn hazel. My original eye color. Then the icy blue eye color would return. I never knew why I was blessed with the gift to know when someone is lying, but if people knew of my gift, I wouldn't dare be safe.

"Irina?" I hear a deep voice snapping me from my thoughts before I have the chance to get into the car. Turning around to the person, my eyes go wide. I do my best not to scream as I look at the one person who ruined my life. "J-Jason?" I stumble.

"Hey," he smiles, walking into the street light that supported enough light for the back of the restaurant and the sidewalk. He takes his hood off of his head making him look like a drug dealer on the streets.

"Jason what are you doing here?" I ask unlocking my car door.

"I came to see you," he smiles. "I've been looking for you. We need to talk."

"We have nothing to talk about," I say picking up my door handle. As I open the door, Jason uses his hand and closes it. Startled a bit by his sudden movement, I jump. I look at Jason's face to see his smile is gone.

"Fine, talk," I say having no choice but to talk.

"I miss you," he says in that soft voice that always made me run back to him and forgive him for his mistakes. That voice that just made me want to cater to him more than I did. "I miss us. I'm sorry. Can you just come home baby?"

I shake my head. "No. I told you we are over. I don't love you anymore Jason," I say honestly from my learned mistakes of ever taking him back.

"How can you not love me anymore? We were together for two, almost three years!"

"After all the shit that you've done to me, I'm not surprised I didn't fall out of love sooner. I told you I don't want you back," I say flatly.

Anger crosses his face. "Who is he?" he asks in a bitter tone.

I can't hold back my laughter. "There is nobody else Jason. What, do you think your not break up material? I don't need another man to break up with you," I tell him truthfully.

"Then what is it!" he shouts making me back away from him. "You where willing to make us work, why can't you again? Why don't you love me Irina? I need you. I need you baby please," he pleads as tears start to fall from his face.

"No," I say again remembering how he would cry just to win me back. Feeling behind me, heart starts to beat faster as I realize my back is to the wall. Hearing a loud crack in the air, I jump a bit as lighting follows behind the thunder as if they are playing tag.

"It's okay," Jason says now in front of me and blocking my way with one both hands against the wall. Tears gone and a serious face, I fight back tears. "I know how much you don't like the thunder. I can protect you," he says pushing his body on me. I feel the sudden urge to throw up.

"Get off me," I plead feeling tears fall into the mixture of the rain pouring down on us.

"Just kiss me," he says.

"No. I won't feel anything. I don't want to," I cry. "I won't feel a spark like I use to."

"Just please," I begs as he brings his lips to mine. Shaking my head back and forth, his lips meet mine. Feeling disgusted, I knee him in between his legs and start to run for my car.

Feeling him grab my hair, I yelp in pain. "Let go of me," I cry out. Trying to fight from his grasp I ball my fist up and punch him in his chest. Jason still holds tight to my hair.

"I need you Irina please," he begs again pushing my body back against the wall. Using both of his hands, he holds down my head, hands still in my hair.

Feeling a lump in my voice I try to scream, but nothing comes out. "Please," my voice cracks.

Before Jason has the chance to kiss me again, I watch a figure behind him grab his body and toss him off of me. Grateful for the strange man, I walk away from the wall. As the man turns around to face me I realize who he is.

"Ezra," my voice croaks.

"Irina are you okay?" he asks searching my face. I look into his eyes and notice that they have, worry? Why would his eyes have worry in them?"

"What the fuck?" Jason says walking back to us. "Who the fuck are you? Irina you liar, who is he?"

I look between the two men unable to call Ezra anything. "I only know him from serving his table," I say somehow giving Jason an explanation.

"Is he bothering you?" Ezra asks me. Unable to lie, I look away from him and whisper a low "Yes."

"Hey buddy," Jason says with anger on his face. "Leave. She's fine with me here."

"A man doesn't hurt a woman," he tells Jason. Ezra stands his ground as the rain seems to fall a bit harder. "So I think that makes you a boy."

"What did you just call me? Did you just call me a boy?" Jason asks clenching and unclenching his jaws and fist.

"I did," Ezra says still standing his ground. Jason looks so small in front of Ezra as Ezra has a hint of being buff under the black tank top that complimented his khaki pants. The thunder roars in the dark clouds again as the lighting flashes bright lighting up the whole street.

Zeus. There was no doubt about it, this man reminds me of Zeus.

After moments of standing still, Jason finally launches at Ezra making me scream. Ezra doesn't move, instead he counterattacks Jason's moves by grabbing his swinging fist, and starting to bend it.

"Don't hurt him," I find myself screaming.

Ezra stops, but knees him in his stomach making Jason fall to the ground. As Jason grunts, he stumbles to his feet and scurries down the street disappearing as he is out of the street lights range.

Running! Right!

Rushing to my car, I waste no time opening the door, hurrying inside, and slamming the door. Trying best to enter the key into the ignition I get angry.

"You stupid fucking keys go in the ignition!" I shout. As if my wish has been granted, the keys go in and I crank the car in no time.

"Irina," Ezra calls out. Jumping from being startled, I quickly put the car in reverse, and step on the gas not caring if another car was coming or not.

"Irina are you okay?" Ezra asks still standing in the same spot.

Putting the gear in drive, I step on the gas leave a screech in the air which is followed by a flash of lightning.

"Just get me home God and I promise I will always look both ways when driving," I say in all honesty.
