《The Insemination》Chapter Four

"What do the big shots want?" Lee asks still carrying his thick Chinese accent.

"They want six orders of Japanese Spring Rolls, three orders of Shrimp Tempura, and four orders of Gyoza," I tell him as I make my way to the back for the wine. Grabbing a bottle of our best red wine, I rush out of the wine cellar, and make my way back to the V.I.P area.

Seeing that they already have wine glasses on their table, I use a cloth from my apron and place it over my arm. Approaching one at a time, I slowly pour the wine carefully into their glass. I feel one of the men watching me. Zeus.

Finally pouring his wine, I show him that I am not intimidated by him not looking at him. Controlling my heart rate I don't want to show him how intimidated I really am.

"You can leave the bottle," he tells me. Nodding my head, I step away from the table. "Is there anything else I can get you until your appetizers are ready?" I ask in a nice, polite way.

"That will be all Irina, thank you," the man with the black hair says again. Nodding my head "okay" I leave the area.

As I walk out I notice the new girl with glasses having problems with her tray while at her table of customers. Rushing to her, I say, "Let me help you." Smiling, I take the tray away from her and hand her one plate at a time earning a smile from her.

As she hands each plate to the family of four, they thanks us and we head to the kitchen. As we walk pass a table with a baby in it, a smile comes to my lips at the possibility of being pregnant. Then I remember all of the articles I read about frozen sperm being "lazy".

My smile fades from my lips as I hand the tray back to the new girl. "Thank you for your help," she says looking disappointed for needing help.

"Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it," I say patting her back.

Walking to the back, I go to the drink area and pull me a cup down. Filling it with a bit of ice, I push the water button, and take one big gulp as I put the styrofoam cup to my mouth.

"Irina order ready! Hurry! Hurry!" Lee shouts being one to always rush. Then again, this was his restaurant. He didn't get rated five stars for nothing.

Gathering all of the appetizers on two trays, I steady them both on one hand resting each on a shoulder. Then some of the co-workers rush to me and start placing the sauce that went along with the appetizers.

When I was young I took ballet, and gymnastics which allows me to have balance more than most people. When I first started though, I had two left feet.

Making my way to the V.I.P I hear one of the men say "We need to handle that problem before it becomes a big one. Send them out tonight to take care of it."

Trying not to stop in my tracks I push what one of them said out of my mind. It is none of my business with that they talk about.

Steadying the trays still on each hand I bring one arm down and sit the tray on the table which is wide enough to sit a car. I feel Zeus's eyes watch me as if with amusement as I do this with no help.

Placing the other tray down, I start taking each plate off and afterwards collecting the trays and pull out chopsticks from my apron as forks are already on the table. Nodding my head to them I walk from the area as I can't seem to forget what one of them said out of my head after all.

"Now, Ezra, as you where saying?" one of the men said to Zeus as I am still in ear shot. Ezra. That is his name.

"Irina," I hear Lee call me. Rushing to the back he points at the new girl. "You help her again." Nodding my head okay I make my way to the new girl. She has a pixie cut hairstyle and a fair skin tone. She pushes up her black glasses to keep them from falling.

"Hey, chin up. You always need confidence okay? Now, let's go to your tables and make some customers happy," I tell her as she nods with a smile.

While helping the new girl I let my mind travel back to this morning. What will be my next step if I am not pregnant? I can always adopt.

I shrug at that thought because adopting has always been a problem for me. Not because I am a foster kid, but because one day a mother or father with money and power can easily take that that child back. To get attached to a child and have it taken from you is just awful. But it's not as if that would logically happen. Right?

What about a surrogate?

I do not need a boyfriend for that. All I simply need to do is give her the sperm and give her one of my eggs. But I want to carry the baby for myself. That is one thing I want. To go through the experience at least.

"Your welcome," the new girl smiles to the customers as I snap out of my thoughts.

Remembering I have a table of my own, I excuse myself and go check on them. I hear laughter erupting as if the worlds funniest joke was just told.

Entering the area, I notice all of the food is gone. "Our bus boy will be by to pick up these plates. Are you all ready to order?" I ask them.

"Yes," Zeus- Ezra says looking into my eyes. "Just a sushi night boys?" He asks not looking at his friends. They nod their head and look at me.

"We want four Super Crunchy Rolls, four Yellowtail Rolls, two Dragonfly Rolls, and three orders of Japanese Spring Rolls again."

Taking in all of the information I nod my head but Zeus looks as if he wants to test me. "Jake here," he says pointing at the black hair guy, "he is allergic to soy wrap. So no soy wrap."

Feeling a little pain in my chest I know he is lying. The men's eyes widen a bit as they realize what my eyes are doing. "Okay, no soy wrap," I say walking away. The customers are always right, even when they lie.

Rushing to the back, I deliver the order and tell the bus boy to pick up the dishes off of the table so we can make room. Trying to walk outside for some fresh air, I hear a big commotion and glass shatter up front from the V.I.P area. Rushing to the front, I notice everyone has stopped eating and looks at my area with worry.

"'I'm sorry' is all you can say to me?'" I hear Ezra shout. Rushing to them, I walk in to find Ezra holding the bus boy by his shirt as Poseidon and Ares is holding him back.

"What is going on here?" I ask in a calm manner. Ezra releases his hold on the bus boy.

"Irina!" the bus boy says out of breath and happy to see me. He scurries behind me acting like I can stop him if he wanted to break him in half.

"What happen?" I asked again.

"Your clumsy bus boy spilled the rest of my wine on my shirt and the only thing he can say is "I'm sorry" as if that will help," he says as his friends release him.

"CJ you go ahead and go tell Mr. Lee what happen, I will clean this up," I tell him with a smile. He wastes no time passing me his bin and walks out looking as if he is ready to burst into tears.

Poor kid.

"As for you, I apologize for what happen," I say turning my attention back to him. Anger is fixated on his face as his jaw line is hard.

"What will apologizing do! And they allow little girls to work here? Ha!"

Stepping up close to him I look into his eyes carefully keeping my voice calm. "The word sorry means regretting something or having sympathy. Would you rather him say he is sorry, or nothing at all? At least he is man enough to say it whereas you lied about your friend having an allergy he does not have. If you don't want soy wrap just say so."

As I say that his faces goes into confusion. "Now, if your going to stay here and finish your meal when it is ready, then I am sure my boss can give you a discount. As for your clothes, there are things called a washer and dryer as well as a cleaners. If you want I can personally attend to it. Oh, and I am not a little girl. I am twenty four years old, whereas you are acting like you are twelve."

Bending down to pick up the broken glass, Ezra just stands there as if he is in shock as well as his friends. Towards the end of picking up the glass Poseidon and Ares help me pick the rest up.

As a piece of glass cuts into my skin I curse under my breath. Standing up with the bin, Ares hands me a cloth as he has an apologetic look on his face.

"Thank you," I tell him. "I will get you a new waitress, I hope you all have a goodnight," I tell them all while nodding my head and walking away.

The more I walk away, the more I pray that Ezra never steps foot in here again.
