《Cute but Psycho (Emmett Cullen)》Chapter Eight

"Would you like to come to my house to learn more about each other?" Emmett asked, as he walked over to Piper near her car.
"Sure, if your family is alright with it." She replied, and Emmett chuckled.
"They're fine with it, Piper. Matter of fact, Alice suggested you come over when she was reading your notebook over my shoulder." Emmett said, causing Piper to smile.
"Well, I'll be more than happy to go to your place. Just let me tell Bella, so she can inform my dad." She commented, and he nodded.
Piper met Bella at her locker to tell her she was going to the Cullens after school. Bella was a bit jealous, but she didn't say anything to her sister. Piper was her own person, and Bella knew it was pointless for her to fight the girl over something like this.
"If you see Edward there, could you--" Bella began, but Piper cut her off.
"Emmett said that Edward's away for a bit visiting family or something, I don't remember. I do know he won't be at home though, so I won't be seeing him." Piper said, and Bella nodded wordlessly.
Piper didn't like the idea of her sister seeming to be infatuated by the Cullen already, but she wasn't going to say anything to her. She knew if she said anything to Bella, then Bella would make a big deal out of it. Bella liked to be overly dramatic or sensitive at times, so Piper tried to avoid her with things like this.
"I heard you're coming over after school today." Rosalie commented, as Piper walked into shop.
"Yeah, Emmett invited me. I hope that's alright." Piper replied, and Rosalie nodded.
"Of course, I mean, you're the first girl Emmett has ever brought home." Rosalie said, causing Piper's eyes to go wide.

"It's not like that!" Piper exclaimed, making Rosalie laugh.
"It will be soon enough." She murmured, and Piper blushed slightly.
Mark watched from the sidelines, unsure of how he should feel about Emmett inviting Piper to the Cullen home. He and Paige had heard many things about the Cullens, but never once had they heard of one of the Cullens inviting an outsider to their home. He wondered if it was some ploy to make them seem normal, though the whole school were fixated on how different they were, so they'd never see the family as normal just because they invited an outsider to their home.
"Are you riding with us, or are you taking your car?" Rosalie asked, as she walked beside the girl through the hall.
"I'm taking my car. I figured it'd be a better idea, so I'd have a ride home and I wouldn't have to leave my car at the school. I don't quite trust the people around here with my car." Piper replied, and Rosalie nodded in agreement with a slight chuckle.
"I'll ride with you to give you directions. The boys can make it home without me for the day." Rosalie commented, causing Piper to laugh.
"That works for me." Piper answered, as she and Rosalie headed towards the front door of the school.
Dylan, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper were standing around by their cars, as if they were waiting on Rosalie and Piper. When the two girls walked over, they were greeted with smiles and waves.
"I'm riding with Piper to give her directions." Rosalie announced, and Alice grinned, while Emmett and Dylan looked at her a bit surprised.
Both boys were proud of how close Rosalie was becoming with the human girl. Piper was the first human Rosalie ever liked that wasn't in her family. Well, there wasn't ever a human in her family after she became a vampire, but technically now there was. Piper was a part of their family, even if she didn't know it yet.

"Esme, our adoptive mother, she's making you dinner. We normally don't eat until late at night, so she's making you food, then we'll eat once you're gone." Rosalie said, and Piper nodded.
"Why though?" Piper asked, causing Rosalie to smile tightly.
"Well, Carlisle, our adoptive father, normally works really late, so we wait until he gets home to eat. We've grown accustomed to the schedule, but you haven't, so Esme decided to feed you early." Rosalie lied, but Piper believed every word.
"Does he work late every day?" Piper asked, causing Rosalie to shake her head.
"No, some days he comes home early. We still eat at the same time, but at least when he's around, we can do things as a family." Rosalie replied, and Piper smiled.
Soon the girls arrived at the Cullen home, and Piper was amazed by how the house looked outside. She was positive she'd love the inside of the house too, judging by how amazing the outside looked. Emmett met the girls outside, since he wanted to officially invite Piper into his home.
"Esme, this is Piper. Piper, this is Esme." Emmett introduced, and the girls smiled at each other.
"Nice to meet you, Piper." Esme said, as she hugged Piper.
"Likewise." Piper replied, hugging the woman as well.
"Carlisle may be around before you leave so you can meet him." Esme commented, and Piper smiled.
Esme placed a plate of hot pockets in front of Piper, since she knew that was one of the girl's favorite foods. Alice had told her of course, but she couldn't tell Piper that. Piper was surprised by the hot pockets, which made Esme rather happy. Once she was done eating, Emmett took her hand and led her to his room. He had a brand new bed put in his room once he found out about Piper.
"Your room is awesome." Piper commented, and Emmett smiled.
"I'm glad you like it." He replied, looking over at her.
The bed was huge, and there was a chair in the corner with a bookshelf full of books next to it, and a tv on the other side of the room with a gaming system connected to it. There erre large windows in the room, which let in quite a bit of sun. There were strings of lights hung all throughout the room, and Emmett had blackout curtains hung as well though, so he could close them when he changed or whenever he wanted to lay down, of course, this was all Piper's impression. She didn't know that he put quite a bit of new stuff into his room once he knew about her...

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Love, Napalm & Homicidal Fairies
When Nasilain started traveling between worlds, she hadn’t expected to get caught by a police officer. Nasilain: Traveling between worlds always filled Nasilain with dread. All those men with their friendly smiles and hundreds of questions. What was the last movie she watched? What music did she like? What country was she from? If Nasilain could use magic in this world, she would’ve blocked the flow of calcium ions in their jaw muscles just to shut them up. The scientific knowledge she could find on the internet using the free Wi-Fi in one of the local coffee shops forced her to tolerate the occasional interrogation. But even hipsters were better than Seth, the beefy police officer that caught her teleporting. Apparently, she wasn’t allowed to lie to him, which was fine as long as he didn’t ask about the clone. Seth: Seth had seen his share of bad luck. On normal days, it manifested as a shoulder injury that got him discharged from his SEAL team or wounding a civilian while on the police force. But landing in a parallel dimension with elves in neon green pants, a cute mad scientist with magical abilities, and swarms of carnivorous fairies? That was a first. At least Nasilain promised not to use her magic to split atoms. Content warning: This book DOES NOT contain zombie fairies. Everything else is fair game though.
