Chapter 6: Apologies
After the little episode with your friends, they both decided it was time they went back home. They both gave you a small goodbye hug while Cali threatened Jay about hurting you, Kevin whispered to you to be careful and to contact him if you ever felt unsafe.
You smile at Kevin's protectiveness and nodded your head at him to let him know that you will contact him if needed. You then walked up to Cali and smacked her arm before apologising to Jay and dragged her out where you exchanged goodbyes again before they left.
You walked back to Jay to see him sitting on a couch. "Hey Jay." You call out causing him to turn towards you.
"Yeah?"
"I'm so sorry about Cali. Shes just really protective over me, and said all that about you, but she's not a rude person, if you get to know her she's really fun and nice, but I'm sorry that-." Your rambling was cut off by Jay who covered your mouth with his hand. You look up at him with wide eyes, not knowing what to do.
"It's okay (Y/N), she was being a good friend, I wasn't offended at all." He whispers to you, "but she was right. The storm has passed over, so I should go back now."
"Wait, what?" You ask, well try to, your answer came out muffled as Jays hand still covered your mouth. He removes his hand before muttering a sorry and standing back.
Your blink at him before repeating the same question. "Jay, you don't have to go yet, the storm just passed over, it must be a mess out there, it could be dangerous for you to go back for all we know."

Jay grins at you, "are you asking me to stay?"
You blush at his cheeky grin, "well, I mean, until it's safe to go out." You stumble out.
Jay makes a move towards you causing you to look up at him. "(Y/N), your too innocent for this world." He whispers.
"What?" You ask confused causing him to chuckle at you.
"Nothing, don't worry it about (Y/N)." He says before walking towards the door, "hey, (Y/N), do you mind if I go out for a bit, I just want to see if my areas safe."
"Okay, I'll come too." You say as you make your way towards him. You were about to grab your coat before Jay stops you.
"It's fine (Y/N), I can go on my own, I wouldn't want you to go out in the cold especially since we don't know if it's safe."
"But-." You start to argue but Jay gives you a stern look in return. You let out a sigh knowing you wouldn't win and simply tell the boy to be careful. He nods his head at you before heading out, leaving you behind in the now empty house.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.

Her Terrifying Love
While being chased by her abusive boyfriend, Lyla turns the tables, shoving him into the path of an oncoming car. But rather than calling the police, she and her friend, Jack bury the body deep in the woods. Instead of finishing her senior year in peace, Lyla is horrified to discover that her dead ex has returned for revenge. This genre-bending supernatural thriller weaves elements of murder mystery, romance, high school drama, humor, and, of course, a terrifying ghost story.(Excerpt from "Her Terrifying Love")Jack's chest heaved. "You said he was dead."Lyla inched closer and whispered, "He had no pulse!" "Maybe he was just stunned.""We carried him all that way," she said. "He wasn't breathing.""But maybe he woke up after we left him down there.""Woke up?! His neck was broken."Jack hung his head. He couldn't make sense of this."I know how this is gonna sound, but..." He choked on his words. "When I went to pick up my car from the body shop yesterday, he was standing across the street. Watching me.""Who was?!""Keenan. I swear to God.""No way," she asserted. "That's crazy talk. He's dead.""It was him." Jack nodded. "He had a frickin' giant tattoo on his neck." A shiver flashed down Lyla's spine. Jack confirmed what she'd been dreading. He'd been seeing the ghost, too.If you enjoyed "Her Terrifying Love," check out the sequel, "Dirty Secrets." https://www.wattpad.com/822348938-dirty-secrets-prologue
