Chapter 3: Invitation
Your eyes open as you hear a loud car horn. You jump up causing something on top of your head to let out a groan of pain.
Startled, you look up to see Jay rubbing his chin with one hand as he uses the other to rub his tired eyes.
"I'm so sorry Jay!" You apologise frantically with wide eyes.
"It's fine." He mutters tiredly.
You look up to the sky to see that the rain had stopped a little but it was turning dark and it was really windy. Your mind wondered to this morning, when you heard that within these next few days there'll be a storm and that everyone should stay indoors during these days.
You turn back towards Jay, "Hey Jay? Do you know about the storm?"
He shrugs his shoulders, "I heard a few people talking about it."
You nodded before continuing, "Where are you going to stay for the next few days?"
Once again, he shrugs his shoulders, "I'm not sure yet. I'll probably just stay here."
You shake your head in disagreement, "It's too dangerous for you to be out here."
"I've got no where else to go."
You look down at the ground before biting your lips as you debated over your thoughts. Finally coming to a conclusion, you let out a sigh, "You can stay over at my house for a few days."
Jay looks up at you with furrowed eyebrows, "You know (Y/N), you shouldn't be inviting men over to your house, it could be dangerous, I could probably hurt you." He teases.
You shake your head at him, "I get that, but I've known you for a few months now, I know you're a good person."

"I can't come over to your house (Y/N)."
"Why not?"
"You've done so much for me already, I don't want to intrude. Besides, what will your parents say, bringing a homeless person home with you?"
You freeze in your spot before letting out a sigh, "My parents passed away 2 years ago." You mumble quietly.
Jay's eyes widen, "Oh crap, I'm sorry (Y/N)! I didn't know."
You shake your head at him, "It's fine, I didn't tell you."
You sat in silence for a few seconds before speaking up again, "And besides, you wouldn't be intruding, I'd honestly love having someone else in the house with me. It gets kind of lonely on my own."
"(Y/N)-." Jay starts but was cut off by you.
"Please! I promise you won't be a bother at all! And you can leave whenever you want after the storm if you feel uncomfortable. I just want you to be safe. I'd feel really guilty if I just left you here in this storm."
Jay stares at you for a few seconds before letting out a sigh, "Fine." He agrees causing you to squeal in happiness.
"Yay!" You cheer childishly as you grab his hand, "Now let's grab your things and hurry on home before this storm comes."
Jay chuckles at you as he collects his things before following you to your house.

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.
8 682Cowboys and Wizards
Currently in queue: Episode 12 in progress. Set in the Aurora: Apocalypse universe.Updated every Wednesday. If it's not updating, I'm working on my other fictions. If nothing's updating, I ran out of whiskey. Be patient. Cowboys and Wizards is a hot mess of garbage that should not be taken seriously by anyone. It’s a vaguely-GameLit spoof of Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomoni (In Another World With My Smartphone) where the MC ends up in another world and fused with his crappy smartphone, mashed up with fantasy western elements. Dungeons & Dragons meets the Wild West in an alternate high-fantasy timeline. Guns & Goblins. Cowboys & Wizards. Locomotives & Dwarves. Don’t expect great writing, accurate numbers, or common sense. Hell, don’t expect anything — just relax and let it happen.
8 107The Manifest
Years after a mysterious plane crash, a woman feared dead is spotted at an anti-war rally. A private investigator named Edgar Willis is hired onto the case, however, he must abandon his virtues after learning of the real destiny of the airplane.
8 263The Abandoned Half-Blood Prince
Reborn! Reincarnated? Whatever! This new world is full of wonder and opportunity. Powers and… Wait. What did that person call me? That name sounds familiar. I read about a tragic side-character with that name— No. Surely not. How did that maid move so quickly? What’s inside that bottle? That doesn’t look like milk. Oh. Oh no.
8 231The Girl with Scales and a Sword
This is the story of a girl who ends up with scales and a sword. Yup. There you have it folks. Slice of Life is the key intended genre. This is literally going to be a running commentary of a girls life, especially as it relates to adventure and action This is going to be a continuous work, as I intend it to be a side project while I work on other books more decidedly, and I intend to rework chapters often, because I want this both to be a break from other titles, and a learning experience. I'm going to be trying to get a lot of people to comment on chapters so I can grow as a writer. So if you want to read, please do! and comment if you feel generous. Just keep in mind, releases will likely be veeeeery far apart. (Note: I try to put out a chapter a month, though that doesn't always happen depending on school, work, and generally how well I'm doing, energy-wise)
