🎶🎶🎶
As they walked to the end of the forest, all of them continued to walk through the countryside dessert. Walking through the dessert they arrived at a bridge that was the finally passage towards the Funk Trolls.
"Ok once we cross this bridge ,it's only an hour to the Funk Trolls," Trollex said as he begins to walk on the bridge.
Y/N followed behind but BDB stayed behind because of how concerning the bridge looked. "Good because believe it or not, I think I need a bath," Y/N said in relief.
"I believe it" Trollex exclaimed but then Y/N shot up a glare at him, "what was that?!"
"Nothing!" Trollex shouted at him feeling his glare from the back of his head. Suddenly when Trollex takes another step a piece of wood breaks making him fall and get tangled by the plants ropes.
"Ahh Y/N a little help here!" Trollex shouted from under the bridge, Y/N thought about it until he smirked and put his head through the hole to look at him from under.
"Uhh yea?" Y/N answered, Trollex looked at him panicked "ok help me up!"
Y/N took his head for the hole and jump over the hole on the bridge. "No I don't think I will" This made Trollex alarmed about it.
"Your gonna leave me here!" Trollex shouted at him, Y/N looks at him again with a smirk and replied, "Well I was gonna have you taken to Barb but I kinda like this better."
Trollex started to get anger at Y/N, "I thought you have changed." Y/N looked at him with a dumb look. Was that gullible to believe him when he said he will really help him?
"Oh come on I had to say something to get you to take me back to Barb," Trollex clenched his fist together.
"So all of it was a lie" Trollex exclaimed to him, "oh yeah it was, oh wait....we'll maybe some of it was true but yea...bye!" Y/N said to his with a dirty look on his face then started to continue to walk through the bridge.
"We pinky promised on it!" Trollex shouted at the top of his lungs as Y/N looked back at him rethinking his life choices before going back to him.
"Oh the funny thing about pinky promise is...they always get broken one way or another!" As Y/N shows him his crossed figures at his face.

"Ok bye-bye!" He said as he took one step until he also fell down on a broken step he stepped on. Making him get tangled by the stem ropes around him.
"Are you ok, are you alright?!" Trollex said to him as Y/N answered him, "yeah, yeah, I think I'm all right"
"Well good!" He shouted as he punched him to make Y/N get less tangled then he was before. "That's for going back on your pinky promise!"
That's when Y/N kicked him in the face sending him away, "yeah, well that's for kidnapping me and taking me to the Funk Trolls!
He started to swing on the stem ropes as he chuckled but that's when Trollex zoomed into him making him get pushed back into the cliff wall behind him.
"Why did I have to risk my life for a selfish brat like you, I was always taught there was good in anyone...but ohh you proved me wrong!" Trollex exclaimed to him from the over cliff wall opposite to Y/N.
"Oh bo-ho!" Making a mocking face at him, "you know I could have let you die in that forest and then I and BDB can go on aware way ourselves!" Trollex said making fake smile with anger behind it.
"Well that makes you dumb and stupid," Y/N pointed out as Trollex gets anger which made smoke come out of his ears.
"Let's end this!"Trollex shouted, "you first!" Y/N exclaimed as they both swings them self into each other and started to have a mini fight with each other.
BDB on the other hand on watching from the cliff and enjoying the tension between them but also gets concerned on how long the vines will last.
They continue to punch and kick each other until they heard something break. This made them stop completely as they had panic faces.
They look up to see the bridge had broke completely as it falls down which included the stem ropes.
This made there faces pale white faces on them, they both fell as down as they bump into each other until they ended up back to back with there fins up in the hill which braked them in there fall.
When they stopped, Y/N started to freak out. Trollex started to look around and spotted a small tree in the middle of the cliff mountain with a long vine next to it.

"No we're not calm down...I have an idea, give me your arm!" Trollex shouted at him as Y/N looked confused by this but did it anyway.
"Ok now the other one!" Y/N did so as he was told and waiting for the next instructions. As they both adjusted to their spot with there fins holding them in place in the edge on the hole.
"When I say go, push against my back and we will walk up the hill...ready...go!" Trollex said as he pushed up against him but crushed Y/N into the hill by accident.
"Ow, you did that on purpose!" Y/N whined as he pushed against Trollex ending up him getting crushed into the hill on the other side.
"Ugh, no I didn't now we're gonna have to work together to get out of this so follow my lead...ready?!" Shouted Trollex telling him if he was ready.
"Ok right foot-" Trollex as going to say but got cut of by Y/N, "who's right, you right or mine."
"I don't care...uhhh my right!" Trollex said to Y/N which made the two of them get ready to walk up the hill back to back.
Then they both started to walk up the hill back against back slowly and carefully to the rope on the tree. They did the process until they reach the end of there fins that we can stretch out. "Ok now what, genius!"
Y/N shouted at Trollex as he thought of something and spoke to him. "Ok here's the deal stretch your self out in my back so I can go grab the rope."
"How do I know you won't let me fall after you grab the rope!" Y/N shouted again at him making him get annoyed.
"Your just gonna have to trust me!" He shouted at him as Y/N did what Trollex said for him to do. Which worked making Trollex inches away from it.
"Almost!" Trollex grabbed it and thug on it but it was stuck on the tree beside them. "it's stuck!"
"Take your time no worry here!" He yelled as Trollex tugged the tree more making small scorpions come on Y/N making him scream.
Making him let go and fall but Trollex caught him with his tail. Y/N then fell face first into a small hole that was a cave full of bats.
Trollex on the other hand was tugging the tree more which also made scorpions come in him among him scream.
He slammed him back on the hill as he did the noise made the bats wake up from there sleep in the hole Y/N head was in.
The bats flew to Y/N as it made his head go out, but also made Y/N fly with the bats including Trollex with the rope.
The bats threw them up in the air and they both landed safely right right to BDB ,who was just watching them.
They both turn to look at each other then laughed nervously. Suddenly the edge of the cliff that Trollex was standing in started to colapse.
"Look out!" Y/N yelled at him as he grabbed his arm and through him over to safety to save him from falling. Y/N cheered at there survival as Trollex and BDB looked shocked on what he just did.
"You just saved my life..." trollex said with a speechless face looking at him. Y/N turned to him with a unamused look. "Huh? So?"
"I knew it!" BDB shouted from next to Y/N, "knew what?" Y/N looked confused.
"There is some good in you after all," Trollex pointed out to him as Y/N look at him in denial. "No,no ,No!"
"Admit it" BDB exclaimed to Y/N, "wrong ,no way!" Y/N tried to deny everything that the both of them were saying.
Trollex looked at Y/N with a smirk, "yes there is!" Y/N had enough of all the arguing and yelled something that surprised the two of them.
"Oh come on ,no one is that heartless!" Y/N realised what he said and cover his mouth, embarrassed on what he said. "Ok look it was a one time thing ,don't think too much into it."
"Ok, but let's get going it's only a few hour trip to get around this," Trollex explained as he and BDB started to walk away.
"Wait your still taking me with you?!" Y/N said surprised at this. Trollex smiled and took his hand, "yea... so let's go"
All three of them went as Y/N blushed at Trollex holding his hand the whole way to the Funk Trolls. Both of them not knowing the tragic things that will happen

2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
