《Blue - My 8 Brothers》Rose: Chapter 8

Hi, I couldn't update because my tablet broke and I lost my wattpad account.
I hardly was able to get my email back. And also, i'm not used to writing on my phone, so this chapter might have alot of mistakes.
(P.S. This chapter can be boring. But it's still important)
Rose's POV.
I accidentally slipped the flower pot.
Oh fuck!
"Who's that?", Riley asked. He and Julia stopped all their movements and I could hear utter silence.
Should I run?
I was about make a run. But alas, I wasn't lucky enough to be saved from this disastrous situation.
"Rose, what are you doing here?", Riley asked with a confused expression, while coming out of the room.
His was sweating and there was a pinkish mark near lips that looked like lipstick smudge.
I raised an eyebrow, "I can ask you the same thing." I eyed him suspiciously, as if trying to scare his 6'5" height with my 5'4" one.
"Excuse me?", it was his turn to raise an eyebrow.
"I was looking for you. I wanted to talk to you. Chris told me that ypu were in the fifth wing", I told him honestly.
"Oh, okay", he said rubbing the back of his neck.
Julia scrambled out of the room and quickly went away before anyone could react.
"What was that about?", I asked Riley with suspiciousness dripping from my voice.
"Oh-oh, nothing", he said looking anywhere but me.
"Nothing? Really?"
"Let's go to my office and you can tell me why were you finding me", he said completely ignoring my question.
I didn't push him further.
****
Riley and I talked for a while.
I asked him about what I should gift Max.
He told me that Max will be very happy if I get him anything related to food. He loves food.
So I decided to bake him a cake and buy him chicken wings.
But I will do that a day before we go to meet.
It's afternoon already. It's lunch time already.
I should go down.

"Rose", Elijah called out to me across from the dinning table.
"Yea?"
"Today Kristian complained about your misbehavior in the 5th wing. Care to explain?", he asked me with a stern look.

Everyone's attention turned to me.
What the fuck!
I looked at Elijah with a shocked expression, "do you seriously believe her?"
"Of course not. Not unless I hear your side atleast", he told me.
I sighed, "She was trying to physically harass a maid."
"What! Kristian, harassing!?", Alex asked me as if it was the most unbelievable thing in the whole world.
I ignored him and turned my attention back to Elijah, "I was looking for Riley. But I had never been to the 5th wing before, so I decided to take a little tour. There I saw her harassing a maid. She was about to slap her face but I stopped her".
Julian looked shocked, "she has been working here for many years."
I turned my attention at Julian, "When I stopped her from slapping the maid, she asked what I was doing there. She was going to slap the poor girl only because she broke a vase.
I told Kristian that it was only a vase and it was okay. But she snapped at me and told me how hard you work to earn money.
The maid, what was her name, Jia no, Jena...um...yea! Julia! Yea, she was going to slap Julia", at the mention of Julia's name, Riley's head jerked up. He looked alarmed.
He clenched his fists.
He looked mad and upset all of a sudden.
"Elijah-", I slowly said, "-it triggered me. I was reminded of th-the way Jack and Gini p-punished me for the smallest mistake-es..." I whispered.
Everyone tensed.
"I'm sorry Rose", Alex said holding my hand.
"It's okay", I told him with a small smile.
"I will take care of that bitch", Chris stood up from his chair.
Dean pulled him back.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of it. Finish your food", Elijah ordered.
No one spoke anything after that.
I noticed that Riley was no where to be seen.
This is all my fault.
I turned a happy family lunch into a quiet awkward meal.
I suddenly lost all my appetite.
****
"Sir, you called for me?", Kristian asked coming into my home office.
She looked at Rose, who was already here. I bought her with me after lunch.

Kristian looked at her with a little smirk. It wasn't supposed to seen by me but I already noticed.
"I talked to my sister about what happened in the morning", I looked at Rose, then back at Kristian.
"Yes sir, I hate to say this but, your sister is very disrespectful", she told me. Rose's eyes widened.
"Yea, I know that. But you might wanna have a look at this", I pushed my laptop towards her.
She came closer and looked at the screen.
Her eyes widened in shock.
"I-I", she opened her mouth to speak but no words came out.
"Cat caught your tongue?",I asked her with a smirk.
"Si-sir, I-I...it's, I only do that to keep the st-staff in con-control", her voice came out shaky.
"HITTING THEM IS WHAT YOU CALL CONTROL! AND HOW DARE TO SAY THAT TO MY SISTER!", I shouted. She flinched.
In the corner of my eye, I saw little Rose flinch a little at my loud voice too.
"It's okay lijah", she told me.
"No Rose, you are my sister."
Then I turned my attention back at kristian,"I didn't know this is how you worked. I never bothered to check the CCTV because I trusted you!"
"I'm sorry sir-"
"You're sorry? I WANT MY STAFF TO WORK IN A SAFE PLACE! Your job was to keep a check on their working, not to control them. They are my staff, not yours.
And Rose is our sister. She matters to me and brothers more than anything else. This money, this is all hers. So don't tell her or make her feel like as if she's an outsider. Because she's not.
But that wouldn't be necessary because YOU'RE FIRED-", I couldn't finish my sentence because Rose cut me off.
"No Lijah, don't fire her. It's okay. Here, please don't cry", Rose handed her handkerchief to Kristian.
Kristian took it and wiped her tears," I'm sorry mam."
"Don't apologize to me. Just promise to me that you will be nicer to the staff and not hurt them. If there's any serious issue, bring it to Lijah than handling it yourself", Rose told her.
"Yes mam. And thank you for not taking away my job", she told Rose with tears in her eyes.
"It's okay. You should go back to work", Rose smiled at her.
My heart swelled at her words. My little sister has such a big heart, truly a West. Just like my mom.
Kristian gave her a small smile and rushed out.
"Lijah, i'm sorry ", Rose whispered.
"Why are you apologising?", I asked her.
"I interrupted you. While you were talking to her", she said while looking at her shoes.
I smiled, "I'm proud of you".
"What?", she looked up and asked me.
"What you did was what a true West would do. Dad would've been so proud of you", I told her with a proud grin.
She giggled,"Really?"
"Yup. Ok now I will have to go if I don't wanna be late for my business meeting", I told her.
"Okay", she came and wrapped her arms around my torso, "Good luck for your meeting".
I chuckled,"Thank you little one".
****
"Sir, the clients have already arrived", my secretory, Jema, told me.
"Send them to my office in few minutes", I nodded at her.
"Okay sir", I heard her reply while walking towards my office.
I entered my office and shut the door behind.
This meeting is useless. A company wants me to invest in their business. I'm not stupid to invest in such a small start-up business.
There business is as small as a bread crumb compared to mine. Maybe even smaller.
This meeting is just a formality.
I heard a knock on the door.
I gave a small come in and I heard the door open.
My chair was turned towards the wall, so they couldn't see me.
"Hello sir, I am here to invite you to invest in our new business", I heard an awfully familiar voice.
I turned my chair immediately.
The person looked at me with eyes so wide, that it looked like as if they will pop out any moment.
"El-Elijah West", she slowly whispered in her soft voice.
I hid my own shock with a cocky smirk and said,
"Diana Miller"
