(Izuku's point of view)
After hearing what the person in the suit said, both me and my sister were shocked.
"What has happened to my mom uncle, is she okay? " I asked.
"Kid this is a fairly recent illness that she has caught, it is called eternal sleep disease, and as the name says, the person falls asleep and never wakes up, Somewhat similar to coma, but this is a disease that people who are near people with quirks get. " Said the person.
"This disease is fairly new, so it doesn't have any cure, but the doctors are working for one so don't worry. We will have to take her to the hospital but don't worry about the bills, since you father was a hero who died in a gate, the hero association will take care of it. By removing some of the money from the monthly compensation. " The guy added.
"Can we see our mother once before you take her to the hospital. " I asked.
"Sure, just be quick because we need to take her to the hospital quickly. " He said.
He then took us both to our mother's room where our neighbor had found her asleep and not waking up, so she called the hospital.
Seeing mom, tears started running down my face. But then I remembered what my mother said to me...

(Third person perspective)
"Come here izuku, " Izuku's mom said.
" Yes mom. " Izuku said.
"Look son, can you promise me one thing, I won't ask you much. " Izuku's mom said.
"Sure mom, whatever you say. " Izuku said.
"Son, if something ever happens to me, can you promise me that you will take care of your sister. Please, I can only ask this of you. " Izuku's mom said.

"Onii-chan what happened to mommy, "izumi asked unknowingly.
"Izumi, our mother is ill and these people here will help our mother get well. So don't worry about it. " I said wiping my tears.
Seeing my tears she knew I was lying and that it's hard for mom to get well and she also started to cry. I console her for the time being and try to think.
'If I want to protect her , I will have to get stronger and get a job.' I think to myself.
---------------(2 years later)-------------------
)
For the past three years, I had done many things, I started slightly training my reflexes, strength and agility in my free time and I also started working at a cafe nearby which required some servers.
Luckily for me I was young at that time so they thought that I will attract sales because of how cute I look.
But that wasn't enough, I still needed to save more money if I plan to cure mother.
And so I tried to earn a living a few times by using some illegal companies who had bought a contract for a dungeon and just wanted someone for a headcount. The first time I did it, it was an '' ranked gate and everyone was a weak hero.
For and 'E' rank gate, one would need at least 1 D-rank hero and a few E-rank heroes , or at least 10 E-rank heroes . It went similarly further on upto an 'S'ranked gate. Which required at least 10 S-ranked heroes to just handle the monsters coming out of the gate.
Luckily, only a handful of 'S' rank gates had been opened in the world. But each 'S' ranked gate was equal to a catastrophe level threat that threatened wiping out of whole nations.
The E rank gate I entered today was filled with goblins. I was able to isolate one of them from the group and kill it, but it had injured me and I felt as if I would die. Luckily the group had healers, so my injury was healed by them.

The goblin had dropped a shiny crystal from it's belly, another person told me that it is called a 'mana crystal' and that I can sell them to earn money. After selling one of it, I earned about half of the monthly compensation that we recieve.
So, I tried to earn more and more of those crystals by entering various gates by various companies as headcount. I would get injured on almost every gate I enter. Luckily most of the teams had a healer in them so they would easily heal me.
But this one time it was different.
It was the last day of my middle school, my teacher had passed the future career forms but threw it away and said,
"What's the use, you all probably wanna become heroes. "
"Hey teach, don't lump me together with these weaklings, I'm gonna be the strongest S-rank hero there is and will ever be. You all can die here cuz I am going to UA to become a hero. " Said a blond person sitting ahead of me.
He was Bakugou Katsuki, my childhood friend and a person with a great quirk.
"Oh yeah midoriya, didn't you also wanna get into UA? " the teacher asked.
Everyone started laughing. I just looked down and didn't say anything.
When the teacher left. I began to pack my bag when kacchan and his gang showed up.
" DEKU YOU BASTARD! , only I am worthy enough to enter UA from this weakling of a school. Today I'll show you what the difference in real and fake heroes is! " He said to me, before ordering his gang "Come on, drag him if you have to. "
He dragged me to a deserted place behind the school on top of a hill, the other members of the gang holding me and making sure I don't run away.
We then came across an unsecured dungeon gate. Bakugou said...
" I'm gonna clear this gate and show you what a real hero is made of. " He started yelling.
Including me, there were 17 people total.
After entering the dungeon, we came across something quite eerie..
It didn't have any monster in it, after some time of exploring, we came across another gate.
"A double dungeon, this is the first time I have seen something like this. But I'm still gonna clear it" Bakugou said, before pushing the door inside the dungeon.
After going inside we saw that we were inside a large room filled with statues on each corner and there was one large statue in front of us.
We all were scared, until someone found some text and spoke.
" There is something written here, it says that :-
'
' . "
While he was saying this, I noticed something. I thought that the large statue just moved it's eyeball.
Seeing that it was normal gave me some relief, but suddenly, I started feeling an ominous feeling. I didn't know why.
Immediately the door was slammed shut.
Just as they saw this, one of the people from the group started running towards the gate to try to open it until suddenly.......
His head was sliced off clean by the statue.
The statue then shifted itself back to its original position. Everyone was panicking. I thought..
'If this statue can move, so what about the large one? Don't tell me...'
I looked back at the large statue.
To be continued.

Stranger than Fiction (Draft Edition)
Rewrite -> https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/55140/stranger-than-fiction 150k words of rewritten and new content, updating 3 times a day. Faith is like ice-cream. It comes in all flavors. Greek, Norse, Sumerian, Christian— just name it and it's there. Adventures, on the other hand, are like credit cards. The first taste is free, but the price only goes up from there. Family heirlooms, now those are true evil. You get burdened with them for sentimental reasons even if they’re icky. For Lukas Aguilar, it was a pendant. A small, weird metal nib with absolutely no vampiric tendencies. All he wanted was to finish the job at hand, and get on that book he had been postponing for a while now. Instead he got served with an apocalypse for breakfast, a cave full of eldritch monsters for the company and the whims of a ruined goddess for his To-Do list. Really, a simple NO from the universe would have sufficed. Acknowledgments Editor-in-Chief: Solo Starfish Artwork: Exodus

Dark Winter
It is always darkest before the dawn. After the divorce, Katie Fox was forced to live with her mother in New York after the judge ruled that her father, a former Army Ranger, wasn’t stable enough. They called him ‘that crazy bunker guy’ or ‘that paranoid freak.’ Whatever they called him, Christopher Fox was a Prepper. He taught those willing to listen how to survive in a catastrophe and how to prepare for the end of the world. More than that though, he was her father and she would rather spend her life in his underground bunker than another minute in that New York highrise. So, she ran away. The date is November 28th, Black Friday and hell has been unleashed on the world. A freak storm mixes with a deadly virus that turns its victims into mindless hunters of flesh. Katie will have to use everything her father taught her to survive and reach the safety of his underground bunker. Note from the author: Thanks for stopping by! The plan is to upload a chapter every Saturday or Sunday (as my schedule allows). Hope you enjoy the story!

Solstice Anthology
A collection of short stories I've written over the past few years, the centerpiece being "Solstice" itself: On the Winter Solstice, the wind whispered. It roared and blew across the world, and reached even the Heavens above. With it, the great cold of winter flooded across that higher plane, and the gods staggered. They felt the golden dust of their divinity drift away from them, and the message of that wind became clear… This Winter will never end so that the Earth will.
