《The Stars Are Falling: Book 1 (Sonic Boom Fanfic)》Dreams

After answering most of the reporters questions, the sun was already setting. Tails and I went into the workshop and decided to work on some inventions. However it was late and I soon fell asleep as the stars shimmered in the night sky.
My dreams were awful. Terrifying. Horrific. Gruesome. Grisly. Simply put, they were the worst nightmares I had ever had.
I wandered the lonely hallways of Chimera's library. I was back to the time when I was their prisoner. The shock-collar on my neck was awfully uncomfortable, but I had to have it on whenever I left my cell.
The facility was filled with the mystical and mysterious to well-known classics. A particular tome caught my eye. I pulled it out only to find that it was the story of my future. Curious, I opened it.
I read about my encounter with team Sonic and the battle with Chimera. I then read about a more... sensitive part of my future. I blushed deeply. I skipped that part because I preferred finding out about that stuff on my own.
Torin walked up to me. He too had a shock collar. One horn was broken, as usual. I remembered the time he'd broken it.
Suddenly, I saw my own self curled up in my cage. I remembered that day. I'd just been whipped as punishment for sneaking out of the authorized grounds where I was allowed to go.
I watched myself go to the library to clear my thoughts. I leaned against a bookshelf and sighed. Then, T snuck up behind me and wrapped his arms around me before whispering something in my ear. I turned around to face him, only to be met with his lips on mine. Even more surprising, I kissed back. I remembered this part very well. I looked up only to see that one of his horns was broken.

"What happened?" Past-me asked.
"I broke it looking for you." he said.
"You always were a bit clumsy." I joked. He cupped my face in his hands and kissed me again, but this time, I pulled away. I remembered the hurt expression on his face. I would never forget it. I knew that my best friend I had a crush on him. I couldn't be with him. It would break her heart, even if it broke mine to see him this way.
"We can't. I can't betray I." I said. He looked disappointed but nodded in understanding.
"I understand. Let's just be friends, ok?" he said, winking. I playfully punched him on the arm.
I was whisked back into the present with the book about the future in my hands. T was standing in front of me.
"It's not good for you to know to much about your future." he said.
"I'm just taking a peek..." I said.
"Well, you can take a peek at the part about our future." he said flirtatiously, leaning in towards my face. I pushed him away.
"I'm sorry, I... can't." I said, keeping in mind that I couldn't betray I. But I also thought about Tails. I had already willed myself to overcome my crush on T. I wasn't going to fall victim to his charming nature again.
I shooed him away and continued reading. My expression turned to worry. I saw scenes of war and destruction. Chimera destroying everything. And at the heart of it, Python and... Subject X.
The world around me started spinning. The scenes described in the book were occurring around me. Houses burning. Executions. But worst of all, the scenes where my friends died.
Knuckles was crushed under a rock. Sonic was swallowed by Python. Sticks was blasted with a laser gun. Amy was burned alive. But the worst was Tails. I was holding his hand running away from a burning village through a field when Subject X ran right past us I drew my sword but they were knocked out of my hands. X whipped his tail around and rammed the sharp tip of it right through Tails' heart before I could react. His death was the worst since I could have prevented it if I'd been more vigilant.

I realized that in all these visions, my friends had died because they were alone. I swore never to leave them and protect them at all costs.
I stood at the edge of a cliff. I saw my friends at the bottom. I wanted to join them. But I turned around and saw the Chimera power core with a sword next to it. If I destroyed it, Chimera would be defeated. But in the distance, I saw Chimera's troops charging towards it. I had to destroy the core now. But I heard a rumble coming from behind me. A landslide was rolling down the cliffside, about to hit my friends. I had to act quickly. Destroy Chimera or save my friends?

Life is a game, with intrusive microtransactions.
Life is a simulation. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging we are just a part of someone's dream, lines of code existing to give purpose for some machine or anything, but why would this unknown entity add microtransactions in it? Maybe because that way it can wake up faster, by consuming parts of it's dream, until... well, who cares about an unknown entity that has nothing to do with this particular story?
