《Hidden Pegasus (Completed)》Chapter 28

Athena's POV
It's been about half an hour that I have been laying here. Thankfully I wiped my tears away earlier or else there would have been a trail of dried tear trail on my face. "I'm going to get through this," I said to myself as I got up from the chair.
I'm not letting this affect me. I can't stay in denial because I admit I'm in love with Maximus Knight, the mighty player. How can I not? He has been the nicest guy to me and just love annoying him. It's worth seeing him all frustrated when I keep bothering him. On top of that, his kisses just make my head spin and leave me craving for more.
In the end, I have to be realistic. I am not match for Max, I am just his pretend fiancee. We both come from different worlds. I know I would never be able to fit in his world.
"He deserves better," I murmured to myself. Looking down at my hand, I noticed my ring which was shining. I gasped as I realised that I have an idea. Just then, I felt my phone ringing.
Looking at the caller ID, I saw that it was the infamous Max Knight. I decided to just ignored it and continue my way to Ethan. Poor Ethan had to wait for me for so long.
"I'm sorry Ethan, I made you wait for so long," I said as I gave him an apologetic smile. "It's my duty to be where you are Athena," he said and I just shook my head at how absurd my whole situation was.
"Oh have you met Pegasus," I asked Ethan as he looked at me with a frown. "Yea, a great guy," he said and I nodded. "Do you know when he is having his meetup," I asked him. "It's tomorrow at about noon," he said, making me smile. "Great that would be fun," I said as I was trying my hardest to keep my mind off of the whole Max thing.
After like what seemed forever, we finally reached our hotel rooms. We had to take like a thousands steps. I mean I'm not complaining, the view throughout the place is just breathtaking.

As I went in, I decided that I wanted to relax so a nice bath would be perfect. I opened the tap and then stripped out of my clothes. Then I put on a robe to cover my nakedness.
Dipping my hand in the foaming bubbles and into the water, I felt the nice warm water that was at the perfect temperature. After putting my hair in a tight bun, I let the robe slid down my body onto the floor.
The warmth of the water made my body relax as I sat into the bathtub. Grabbing my phone from the counter, I decided to call Dereck.
After a few rings, he picked up. "Delia," he said all excitedly. I even heard Jason screaming my name in the background. I couldn't help but giggle. "Hey boys," I said as I rested my head on the rim of the bathtub as I talked to them.
After the relaxing bath, I made my way out after drying my body and putting on my clothes. Just as I was sitting in front of the vanity, the door opened to reveal Max. I took a deep breath and calmed myself.
"Hey Max," I said as I combed through my hair. I was looking at him through the mirror in front of me. He looked exhausted and frustrated. "You look tired," I said. He lifted his head and started staring at me.
It was as if he was searching for something on my face but soon, he shook his head and looked away. Damn he is awfully silent.
"Hey, is there something wrong," I asked him as I took a seat next to him. "You can tell me anything," I said as I placed a hand on his shoulder. "The woman who you saw me with is my ex-girlfriend, Amanda Reed," he started. "Max I don't need to hear any explanation if that's what is bothering you," I said and he just looked at me with a frown.
"It's your life and I don't expect any explanation from you. I'm just your pretend fiancee. As long as no paparazzi saw you guys, it shouldn't be a problem for me," I said trying my best to keep my composure and not breakdown.

He was just staring at me with him beautiful brown orbs. I felt like he was looking right through me. Closing his eyes, he sighed. "Just go and get a shower, you will feel better. Then we could go to eat," I said and he nodded.
As he got up and made his way to the bathroom, I let out the breath that I didn't even realize that I was holding. I'll get through this. Unknowingly, a tear fell onto my pale cheek. I have no time to cry anymore. I'm not weak.
Taking my phone, I called a traveling agent and booked a flight for tomorrow afternoon to go back home. I'll go to the meetup of Pegasus and then I'll go back home. I need to come up with an excuse.
As I was thinking, Max came out of the bathroom with only a towel wrapped around his waist. It seemed dangerously loose in my opinion. I felt like drool was about to come out of my mouth.
"Enjoying the view," he said seemingly more relaxed. That's a good thing. I just rolled my eyes at him and went to sit in front of the mirror again.
After 15 min, we got into the elevator to go in the hotel's restaurant for dinner. As we got to our table, he pulled the chair for me. "Oh well thank you, kind sir," I said in a butchered british accent. He chuckled my childishness.
"So how was work today," I asked him, trying to make conversation. "I checked the venue and it was great. Pegasus loves it. All the arrangements are done but tomorrow is going to be a hectic day," he said. "I know you have made the best you can," I said as I looked down at my plate.
"You are coming tomorrow," he asked me. "We are talking about Pegasus right now. Obviously I'll be there," I said as if it was a fact. He laughed at me while shaking his head. He looks so carefree and happy right now. I didn't realise that I was intently staring at him. Damn I'm creepy.
After getting back to the room, I quickly changed into my comfy pjs. Max just took all his cloths off except his boxers of course and threw on a pair sweat pants. Sliding into the covers, I yawned as sleep slowly took over me. "Good night little dove," I heard from the distance.
Sitting on the edge of my bed, I wondered how did I get myself into this mess. Suddenly my phone started ringing displaying the name of the boy I despise the most. Taking a deep breath in, I relaxed and picked up the call.
"Shawn," I said as I answered the phone. "Why were you taking so long to pick up," Shawn said roughly, making me flinch. "Nothing baby I'm sorry," I said as my heart raced. "I want you to come meet me now," he said. I was holding my tears in as much as I could but I couldn't help my trembling voice.
"I can't go out right now. It's took lat and my mom will get angry," I said trying my best convince him. I always dread meeting him. "If you try anything, remember I know where you live. I won't hesitate to come and beat the shit out of you. Now tell me you love me," he said. I closed my eyes and gulped. "I love you Shawn," I said as I was on the verge of crying. "I love you too baby. I can't wait to have you in my arms tomorrow," he said, making me sick to my stomach.
Putting my head in my hands, I couldn't help but let the water make it's way down my cheek. The constant fear was there as I whimpered as I cried.
"Athena, wake up. You are scaring me. Athena," I heard someone say as I felt them shaking my shoulder. Slowly opening my eyes, I saw Max looking at me with concerning in his eyes. "Athena," he said quietly as I felt the wetness on my cheek.

"Let them go, Dante." I whip my head to see a small boy standing the clearing with blonde hair and a green cloak hanging from shoulders. He isn't very tall however he holds his stance well. He doesn't seem to be more than Cassandra's age. Maybe 12 at most. I abruptly turn my head back hearing the man holding a sword to my throat chuckling with a sinister grin. "Oh, poor boy, what are you go to do about it?" The yellow teeth gleam as he begins stalking towards the boy who does not look the least bit fazed. I look around at the other men who are following the leader. I pull Cassandra tighter to my back as I take small steps back. I keep my eye trained on the men but also fear for the naive boy. The story begins 2 weeks into Laurie's employment, one day before the Heelshire's commit suicide, five days before her life is changed irrevocably.
