What did you ask for Christmas?

Athena's POV 

For the rest of the day, I didn't hear from Max at all. I must admit, I was itching to call him. I'm being ridiculous. Shaking my head, I focused on the movie that we were all watching. Shortly after, I didn't even realise that I fell asleep. 

The next morning

As I slowly opened my eyes, I tried turning but I was feeling restricted. I finally opened my eyes which took a few seconds to adjust to the bright light of the sun coming from window. Looking beside me, I saw Dereck sleeping. He was literally crushing me with his legs on me. Pushing his leg off of me, I sat on the bed while I rubbed my eyes. "Wake up lazy butt," I said as I shook his shoulder.

Dereck groaned in disapproval. "Come on sleeping beauty," I said as I got up and went to see Jacob. As I opened the door of his room, I saw that he was still asleep. Those guys are lazy, it's already nine in the morning. I ran to his bed and jumped on it, carefully so as not to hurt him. "Get uuuuuuuuuup, Jayjay," I said as he just snaked his arms around my waist and snuggled against me. "In a minute," he said in an annoyed tone as I was continuously poking his back. I got out of his room to brush my teeth. 

As I finished making breakfast, I was thinking of something for us to do today but my thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell. Quickly making my way to the door, I noticed Jacob and Dereck coming downstairs. "Are you guys expecting someone," I asked and they both shook their heads. 

Opening the door, I was surprised to see Max standing in front of me with his hands in his pant pockets. He looked incredible in his work attire. "Max? What are you doing here," I asked him. "Won't you ask me to come in," he said completely ignoring my question. I got to the side as he came inside. 

"What a surprise," Jacob said as we got in the kitchen where they were having breakfast. I couldn't help but chuckle at the scene before me. Dereck and Jacob were just out of bed, wearing just pj pants while Max was all dressed in his suit and pants. Why does he have to be so gorgeous? "My fake fiance is a whole snack," I said to myself. "I'm not even surprise that woman throw themselves at him. He has he charms. He is fucking loaded. Oh wow I sound like I'm a gold digger," I thought as I sat and look at Jacob and Max talking. 

Well I'm happy that they are getting along but Dereck hasn't been easy on him. He is very cold towards Max. It's understandable when I'm pretending to be his fiance and that he has a bad reputation concerning his love life. Dereck is definitely just looking out for me. 

"Little dove, I have been calling you for the past five minutes. Is there something wrong," he said looking concerned. "Uh no I just zoned out for a bit," I said as I felt embarrassed. "Oh and why did you come so early," I asked him as I stole a piece of egg from Dereck's plate. "Deliaaaaaaa," he whined making me pull my tongue out at him. 

Max chuckled before shaking his head. "I came to pick you up," he said. "Ok then I'll get my bag from upstairs so that we can go," I said before going. At that moment, I felt contented that I was able to spend some time with my favourite people. 

After saying goodbye to the boys, we went to my house and said goodbye to my mom and Eros. I didn't know why but when I got in the car, I started tearing up. "Hey what's wrong," Max asked me as he placed his hand on my chin. He pulled my chin up making me look at him in the eyes. "It's nothing. I'm being emotional for no reason," I said as I was going to wipe my tears away but Max beat me to it. His thumb stroked my cheek, wiping away the bead of tear that was gliding down to my lips. "I'm always here if you want to talk about it," he said making my heart melt. 

Cupping my face with his two hands, he pulled me forward and placed a comforting kiss on my forehead. At this instant, I felt at home. I knew that I was in love with this man in front of me. I forgot about the reason for me being with him, I forgot that I'm just his pretend fiance. I forgot that the relationship we have is just a facade for the world. I forgot that I could actually never be with him in the future. 

All I could think about was that this man makes me go insane. I want to stay in his arms forever. Looking at his beautiful face, I wondered how could I end up in this situation. A few months ago, I didn't even know his existence and now here we are. His arms holding me in comfort as I was crying because I was missing my family already. 

As he drove back to his house, I realised that I just became vulnerable in front of him. He showed that he cares for me. When he was comforting me, I can't help but feel the weird attraction towards him grow more and more and more. I feel like at one point, I'm already in love with him. 

He just came into my life and unknowingly helped me out to support my brother. Now that I remember, at the end of the year of the contract, I will have to leave and never turn back. I will have to forget him. I need to get my feelings in check. 

What is wrong with me? For a minute, I was crying because I was going away from my family again and well I was definitely overreacting. And secondly, I was now engulfed by the thought that I will have to forget about the man that I'm in love with. Am I overthinking things?
