"Fana?"
It took a minute.
For it to sink in.
""
In an instant Mars was headed straight towards her, Asta jumps up and pulls him back.
"Woah, woah, woah! Hang on, wait up! You're gonna die man! Is that the kind of Character you are?!" Asta yells as Mars struggles to get out of Asta's arms.
"It's me! Fana! It's me! Don't you recognize me?!" Mars yells, Fana pauses before her expression deepens in anger.
"" She growls back as the dragon lets out another fire ball.
"Heavenly Sky Magic: Sky on Water Reflection!" I cast my spell and it doesn't reflect back, but instead blocks the hit.
"Fana?!" Zell yells aloud in realization.
"You mean that Fana?" He exclaims.
"I'd heard she died in one of Morris's human experiments after I defected." Zell continues, squinting his eyes to get a better look at Fana.
"True, now that I'm looking, she does look just like Fana! Transformation magic? No, there'd be no point to do that." Zell murmurs, getting lost into his thoughts. Fana growls again as she clutches the side of her face as I study her movements.
That eye! It's emitting a strange power, is it someone's spell? Is that group, The Eye of the Midnight Sun controlling Fana with that eye?!
"" Fana hisses as sweat rolls down the side of her face.
"" A blast of fire surrounds her and engulfs her into a sphere.
"Gah! More self-destruct magic?! What's up with that? Does everyone of these people come with that option?!" Finral shudders.
"Not good! In a few minutes, this entire area's going to get blown away!" Vanessa yells. Fana lifts up into the air as the ball of fire enlarges.
This is seriously no joke.
Smaller fire balls start to break off and charge towards us. I make another shield and protect the all of us, except...
Why the hell is he running towards it?!
I spot Mars heading head first against the fire ball, it explodes against his body, the smoke clears and Mars was burned from head to toe.
"Mars! Don't! Block it with magic!" Zell yells from behind him. Mars doesn't reply, he takes a breath.
"Teacher...I have no right to block it! " I walk straight up to him and smack his face with the back of my hand.

""I boom as I point towards the raging Fana. His eyes widen at my words.
"You're right, I'm sorry." Mars says as he recomposes, I turn to the others.
"Neither Finral's spatial magic nor Vanessa's thread magic would work against those flames, and if you agitate it with Noelle's water magic, it might explode. Asta, it's up to you, I'll be your guide!" I say as I smile, I nod my head as I lock eyes with Mars.
"I'll show you how a member of the Crimson Lions' does things her way!" I turn to Fana.
"Because this time..."
"Mars! Take the right, Asta come in from the left!" I yell, the nod and charge towards Fana.
"" Fana growls, she casts more fire balls from her immense magic sphere. Asta's cuts through as Mars's blocks it with his magic.
Her magic...it's!
"Becareful! Her magic is increasing!" I yell at the two of them, I run a little forwards until her flames itch against my body.
"Heavenly Sky Magic: God's Breath!" A wave of ice coats the flames and it dies down a little, I cool off the flaring bodies of Mars and Asta.
It's so hot, she was roasting them alive!
"Still good to go?" Mars asks Asta.
"Yeah! As long as I don't turn into charcoal, I can go as far as you want!" Asta exclaims, he turns to face Mars.
"Are you okay?!" He asks.
"" Mars growls.
He's different from the last time I saw him...
"It's going to blow any second! You should evacuate!" Zell yells to Noelle, Vanessa and Finral. They don't move.
They believe in them...
I turn back to look at the fight.
I believe in them too!
Asta and Mars edges closer to Fana. Asta swings his sword and slashes it down onto the ground, the impact throwing Fana off into the air.
"They...They did it!" Noelle exclaims.
"Not yet!"I yell back as Fana slides across the ground and stands up.
"" Fana growls again, Asta growls in annoyance as Mars leaps forwards and wraps Fana in his embrace.
"" Fana's eye widen as her memories flood back into her mind.
""
""
All the magic, in an instant flushes right back into Fana, the thrid eye on her forehead fades and her eyes turn a glassy light blue.

Her original eyes, their so pretty...
"U-huh. It's a promise. " She smiles. Mars trembles before tears flow down his eyes.
"Fana..."He smiles.
With a blue sky etched behind them, they reunite.
Asta cheers as they let each other go. I go stand beside Asta.
Must be happy when you see a friend that you thought was dead..
I smile at the scene before me.
Must be nice.
"(Y/n), this couldn't have happened with out you, thank you!" Mars says, holding out his hand, I stop smiling and think.
Right! I saved him that time in the dungeon!
"Don't sweat it, we're friends now aren't we?" I take his hand and shake it.
"This person...is your friend Mars?" Fana asks, I nod. She turns to Mars.
"Wow! You made a friend in the outside world!" She exclaims as she claps her hands together.
"Hey! Don't forget about me!" Asta yells from behind me.
"Is he your friend too?" Fana asks Mars.
"No, 'friend' isn't really the-"Mars starts.
"Yeah sure, he's a friend! I mean, we fought once, but whatever!" Asta exclaims as he slaps the side of Mars' arm, he turns to Fana.
"You too. I'm glad you calmed down, but what on earth had-" Asta gets cuts off as Noelle, Finral and Vanessa tackle him to the ground, I hear some shuffling behind me and see Zell.
"You really are...a terrific student!"He praises Mars and Fana.
"Thank you very much, teacher!" Mars thanks him, Fana gasps.
"Mister Fanzell!" She exclaims slightly, Zell's lips curve into a small smile before hugging the both of them.
"I'm so glad..." He breaths out.
"Come to think of it, how did you end up in the hands of The Eye of the Midnight Sun?" I ask Fana as Zell releases them.
"I don't know, I can't even remember everything." She replies.
"You remember almost nothing?!" Asta exclaims as he butts into our conversation.
"That's right." Fana confirms, everyne gathers around to hear her story.
"After that final drill, I remember someone saying that I didn't interest them anymore, and then a figure comes towards me and said something like 'Human even hurts other humans,' and something about living on. I don't have any memories after that point. It was as somebody else entered my body. As if I was being controlled. All I remember is that person's fierce hatred."Fana explains.
So it was The Eye of the Midnight Sun, they were controlling her, but she said 'as if somebody else had entered her body', is this another method of controlling?
"What about the three eyes and the pointy ears you just had?!" Asta asks again, Fana frowns.
"...I'm sorry...I don't know anything." Fana replies looking down.
"You went through that?! I don't know a thing and I..."Mars grits his teeth as he looks down in gloom.
"Mars! You don't need to feel bad about anything! Afterall, we did meet again!" Fana protests. Mars places his hands on both her shoulders and faces her.
"Right, and I'll never let you go, no matter what." He says with a straight face.
"Uh-huh! Let's stay together forever!" Fana agrees.
(This sounded like siblings to me, I'm sorry ;3;)
"Y-yeah!" Mars says back.
"My, my is it heating up over there?" Vanessa smiles slyly while covering her mouth.
"Yes. Childhood friends, tragically torn apart and reunited by destiny...That's really great!"Finral says, I glance over at him before freezing.
He's crying tears of blood?!
"What's the matter Mister Finral?!" Asta yells.
"I'm jealous and envious and bummed out!!" Finral cries back.
"Huh!? You don't have any childhood friends, Mister Finral!?" Asta exclaims.
"NO!! None of them are cute, DAMMIT!" Finral cries back. I suddenly see Noelle, she jumps and smacks Asta.
"I'm not jealous at all, ALL RIGHT?!" She yells with a pink face.
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" Asta yells.
I sniffle a laugh.
After all that, and here we are.
"I still wonder why The Eye of the Midnight Sun came to The Forest of Witches though." Vanessa brings back up the topic. Fana pulls a strand of hair behind her ear when she realizes something.
"There's a intense thought still in mind...'I'm going to reclaim the magic stone!'." Fana says out loud.
"A magic stone?!" Asta exclaims. They go on about the magic stone as I feel something tingle behind me.
Hmmm...this magic...impossible!
I look back at the clearing, light flashing towards us.

The Other - a (man) called Ted
A figure, large and present through time in ways most would not understand. Seemingly uncaring about all except his own principles, the one we refer to as the Other (for legitimate reasons, lest some accidentally call upon his old name), finds his way through life. Though refusing to claim the title himself, this (immortal)'s projects have begun to leave him behind, awaiting some accident to move him back into the world. - - - - - - Initially intended to be a novella, then a project to keep me sane in busy times IRL, this will be considered the roughest of drafts. Also, IRL may prevent me from regular updates after the backlog is done. Tags with a grain of salt, items may be mentioned briefly in story so far, or in chapters already written but not published. Content warnings just in case. Some perspective switching in the first several chapters. Legitimately though, in the first chapters an explanation is provided for referencing to the MC as 'the Other.'

The Wandering Scholar
Zhou Mingzie, A young Chinese American is suddenly brought into a mythical land, similar to China in many ways, but is most definitely not. This new world appears to contain cultivation elements like the Wuxia and Xanxia stories he read throughout highschool, but he can also gain Levels and Skills, I mean Paths and Techniques. Sure he is Chinese, but he grew up in America, so he doesn't want to ascend to the heavens and fight spirit beasts, does he? But Mom wants him to embrace his heritage more...jk...unless? [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Inspired heavily by The Wandering Inn and Beware of the Chicken, as well as cultivation novels in general, this story hopes to take a Westernish approach to the standard Cultivation approach, being more subtle and changing how it approaches the standard tropes of the genre, without abandoning them entirely.
