"Adalet, Andrea has asked me to go with you to the abandoned fairground to meet Randolph!" Amy salutes, "are you sure we should go, though? I mean... Does Andrea seriously believe that Randolph is an alien?! And what if something goes wrong? Colonel Spangler tried to help Randolph, and look where that got him!"
"An order is an order," Adalet replies, "so, let's head over to the abandoned fairground and see what Randolph wants from us!"
"This abandoned fairground gives me a major helping of the creeps!" Amy shivers, "what if there are killer clowns?"
"Abandoned usually means no one is around," Adalet countered, "but right now we need to focus on Randolph!
She nods, "we're here to meet with Randolph. But I don't see him anywhere!"
"Neither do I," she sighed, "do you want to split up? You can take Hunter if she makes you feel safer."
"I'm not the biggest fan of the idea," she admits, "but you have a point. If we split up, we can cover more ground. And... I'll take Hutner if you don't mind..."
She smiles, "Hunter, go with Amy."
The dog barked before moving from the raven-haired's side to the blonde's.
"Randolph must be around here somewhere," Adalet reasoned.
"I bet you'll find him first, Adalet!" Amy declared.
She chuckled, "yell if you find anything!"
The two split up and went in separate directions, Amy and Hunter set off towards the rides while Adalet went to the game stalls. As Adalet walked through the various carnival stalls, she picked up a faded card off the ground that looked to have been dropped there recently. She also spotted a claw machine game that had its lid slightly moved to one side, as if someone had just opened it up.
Turning around to face the opposite direction of the claw machine, she was greeted by a startling sight that made her shout out a cry of fear. There, resting on the bench of the shooting gallery was Randolph's body, his chest cut open like an autopsied corpse showing off all his internal organs to her. Adalet's cry alerted Amy and Hunter and the two rushed over to the captain's location.
"Adalet!" Amy yells as she got closer, "what's wrong?!"
"I found Randolph!" Adalet calls back, "he's in the shooting gallery... But his chest has been opened!"
"Don't tell me he's dead!" she cried, slowing to a stop beside the captain and taking in the sight, "oh my goodness, his organs are just out in the open for all the world to see... First Spangler was killed, and now Randolph? He's the most harmless person we've met in Rhine Canyon! Who would do this to him?"
"Right now, we don't have that answer, but what we do have are clues," Adalet says, walking back towards the claw machine.
"You're right, we must focus on the clues! This fairground is abandoned... and yet this claw machine looks like it's still working!" she remarked, seeing the lights flickering in the machine, "whatever that claw machine is hiding, you're sure to find it in no time!"
"What about this card?" she asks, passing it to her partner before climbing up onto a crate beside the claw machine.
The rookie took the card, "this card has an oddly familiar moth design, doesn't it? I'll get your dusting kit so you can uncover the information!"
While Amy set off back to the hummer to get Adalet's case and also call Roxie to come to get the body, Adalet removed the lid of the claw machine. She lifted herself and bent once the side of the glass tank to be able to reach inside. With the glass digging into her stomach, she plunged her hand into the tank and began digging around all the stuffed toys and other prizes that were inside. Moving a pink stuffed bear aside, she saw a piece of paper sticking out from the pile. Pulling it out she noticed that the page was almost completely soaked in blood.

"Oh my goodness!" Amy gasped as she returned and saw what Adalet had found, "the page you found in the claw machine is covered in blood!"
Adalet drops down from the crate she stood on, "and given how Randolph was murdered, if we get the page to Yann, he'll be able to tell us exactly what we're dealing with."
After putting the page into an evidence bag, Amy handed Adalet the dusting kit and faded card. The captain took the items and used the brush on the faded card to recover the missing writing that had been printed on it.
"The card you found at the crime scene belongs to Otto Schmetterling? He was a suspect in the murder of Burt Montana, wasn't he?" Amy recalled, reading the contents of the card.
"It looks like he's setting himself up as some kind of collectibles dealer now," Adalet frowned as she read the card, "it says he trades in "the occult and the bizarre"... Creepy..."
"Sure, there are collectible items at the fairground, but who would he trade with? The only person hanging out here was Randolph!" she cried, gesturing to the body.
"Then let's ask Mr. Schmetterling what his card was doing at the crime scene!" she replied.
Once Roxie had arrived, they helped her load the body into her van then they all returned to the station. When they returned, Amy called Otto into the station for questioning while Adalet dropped the bloody paper off with Yann for analysis. Otto arrived at the station several minutes later and the cops brought him into interrogation to ask him why his business card was at the fairground.
"Of course I left my card at the fairground, Capt. Adalet. I leave my card anywhere bizarre collectibles can be found!" Otto explains, "I had heard that there was a real live alien in Rhine Canyon and I had to see it for myself! His name is Randolph, I believe..."
"You seriously believe Randolph was an alien?!" Amy deadpanned.
"Yes, I have been handing out my card so people can contact me if they find him. Would you be interested in helping me?" he inquired, "I would pay handsomely..."
"We don't have time for antiquing, Mr. Schmetterling," Adalet replies, "Randolph was murdered!"
"Oh, what a shame..." Otto didn't sound too worked up about the news, "well, I can always scout Area 61 for another alien..."
"Area 61? What's that?" Amy questioned.
"It's a secret military base where all the aliens in Rhine Canyon end up... Or so I hear..." he answered, "but it's hard to get in if you're only a human!"
They thanked Otto for his time then let the eccentric man go freely.
"The desert heat must have gotten to Mr. Schmetterling! Area 61 involved with aliens? That's crazy!" Amy shakes her head with a smirk, "I know Randolph was convinced he was an alien... Colonel Spangler thought so, too! Maybe someone at Area 61 was also a believer?"
"If there is then we need to go there right now!" Adalet declared.
"But how will we get into Area 61? The security is too tight..." she reminded the captain.
"You let me worry about that," Andrea says, overhearing their conversation, "go to Area 61. I'll call Judge Dante. You'll have your clearance in no time, Adalet, or they'll be sorry!"
After getting the address for Area 61, Adalet and Amy drove out to the desert base to search for anything related to Randolph's murder. Looking around the entrance of the base they found a tablet in a camouflage protective case and a torn paper lying among the crates and sandbags stacked around the perimeter.

"You know, I think this Area 61 place might even be creepier than the abandoned fairground... Where is everybody?" Amy wondered, looking around the seemingly empty base.
"We're not here for conversation, at least not yet," Adalet corrects, "right now we're here for clues!"
"Right! What have you found?" she inquired while looking at the items, "the camouflage pattern on that tablet screams "military." I'm sure you can unlock it and see if there's any information about Randolph!"
"And a torn paper doesn't belong out here," she reasons.
"You'll piece it back together in no time, I'm sure!"
Adalet worked on the tablet first. She hooked it up to her own and cracked the code after just two tries. With it unlocked she disabled the passcode so it couldn't lock on them again.
"You unlocked that military tablet in record time, Adalet! I see some folders... What could be in them?" Amy looked at the files on the home screen.
"Given how many there are, this looks like a job for Hannah!" Adalet said, placing the tablet in her case, "she'll crack this tablet wide open!"
With the military tablet finished, Adalet quickly tapes up the torn pieces of paper she had found. The pieces ended up making an article from Weird Science Monthly and the article's title was Do our Own Alien Autopsy! The article also featured a picture of the author, but only listed Dr. D as the man's name.
"The article you pieced together is from "Weird Science Monthly"? Talk about a niche market!" Amy commented, "the title of the article is "Do Your Own Alien Autopsy"! Who would even do that? There are no aliens! And besides, it's disgusting!"
"The article's author is a "Dr. D"..." Adalet frowns.
"That won't help us find him!" she complains.
"No but his face will!" she replies, reaching for her tablet again, "I just need to compare the author's photo against the database!"
After scanning in the picture of the man, she uploaded it to the database to quickly compared it to pictures they had on file for residents of Pacific Bay. After helping the program by matching some of the man's features, they had a name and profile to work with.
"According to the database, a certain Jarvis Donne wrote that alien autopsy article. The database also says he's involved with medical research at Area 61!" Adalet reads, nodding her head at the base as she finishes, "and given what his article is about, maybe his autopsy expertise was applied to Randolph!"
"We should go have a chat with Mr. Donne about his article!" Amy decided.
Adalet and Amy entered the base and walked through it in search of Jarvis Donne. Had the building not been so clean and the lights all on, they would have assumed it to be abandoned just like the fairgrounds. As they were walking through the halls they heard the sound of metal clanging together and entered a room with a plaque reading Morgue 1 on it. Inside was Jarvis closing a filing cabinet but he turned around when he heard them entering.
"Jarvis," Adalet greeted, "would this be your article by chance?"
"It's so nice to meet fans of my writing outside of UFO conventions! For whom shall I sign the autograph?" Jarvis inquired politely.
"We're more interested in your autopsy work than your writing, Mr. Donne," Amy corrected the man.
"DOCTOR Donne, thank you. I DO have a Ph.D. in biology and I have worked on several major research projects!" he boasted proudly.
"You have a Ph.D. in biology and you wrote for "Weird Science Monthly"? That's... interesting..." she hummed.
"Anyway, did any of your research at Area 61 involve a young man named Randolph?" Adalet questions.
"Yes, it did! Randolph and I became friends during his time at Area 61. We played a lot of word games between... other tests..." Jarvis replied ominously, "unfortunately, Randolph escaped at a crucial point in my research..."
"Randolph "escaped"?! You make him sound like a prisoner, not a friend!" Amy shouted.
"Oh no, we WERE friends," he assured, "Randolph was the kindest and most trusting alien I've ever met!"
She slapped her forehead, "oh great... Yet another person who believes that Randolph was an alien!"
"Well, Adalet, I guess Randolph was as human as you and me, in the end!" Roxie quipped, gesturing to the body on her table, "but I do appreciate the fact that the killer did my job for me! Randolph was effectively autopsied to death!"
"Roxie, have a little respect. Randolph may have been a little loony, but he was still a nice guy!" Amy reminds.
"Sorry... At least the killer had enough respect to use a proper scalpel to do the job..." she offers.
"So the murder weapon might be a scalpel?" Adalet guessed, "we'll have to keep an eye out for it..."
"There's more! His organs are squeaky clean! Factory fresh! Randolph may not have been an alien, but he is the healthiest human I've ever seen in the morgue!" Roxie rambled, "of course, that threw into question the little patches of colour I found on his skin... They were from food colouring used in a popular candy! But judging from his insides, Randolph wasn't eating any candy, so..."
"So you're saying that the killer eats candy?" Amy inferred, wrinkling her nose, "what kind of creep would eat candy while autopsying someone?"
"What can I say," Roxie shrugs, "sometimes you need a snack! Still, I LEAVE the morgue to eat. Whoever did this was driven... or maybe just driven crazy."
Thanking Roxie for the information, Adalet and Amy left the morgue and headed over to the forensics lab to see what Yann had discovered about the bloody page he had been sent. When they got to the lab, they found Hannah inside standing beside the forensics expert.
"Adalet, Amy," Yann greets, "I ran a comparison and the blood you found on that page from the fairground was definitely the victim's!"
"And I've seen that page before! It's from a book called "Truth About Aliens"!" Hannah chimed in, "I know it sounds silly, but the book's considered a classic for UFO and alien nuts who want to find aliens among us!"
"Well, there's so much blood on this one page that it's safe to say whoever killed Randolph was reading the book," Yann continued.
"So the killer was reading "Truth About Aliens"..." Adalet began updating the killer's profile on her tablet.
"Maybe they wanted to know if Randolph was an alien or not!" Amy suggested.
"Good idea," she agrees, "what about the tablet, Hannah?"
"As you might expect, I managed to decrypt the applications on this military tablet," Hannah boasted, "it was standard military stuff... until I unlocked the videos and found a rousing speech from General Freeman! Take a look..."
"General Freeman wanted his unit to track and capture a "visitor to our planet"? Did he mean an alien?" Amy pondered, "and he mentioned Colonel Spangler specifically... Do you think the "visitor" Freeman was referring to was Randolph?"
"If what everyone has been saying is true, then most likely," Adalet says, "we need to have our own sitrep with General Freeman!"
She nods, "it's time to stop this alien nonsense!"
Returning to Area 61 they did not have to go far to talk to General Freeman. The man himself was waiting for them just outside the entrance to the base, a look of anger on his face as they approached.
"You've got a lot of nerve coming into Area 61 and confiscating military property, Capt. Adalet! We handle sensitive national security issues here!" General Freeman barked.
"National security issues like aliens, General Freeman?" Adalet inquired in a light tone.
"I can neither confirm nor deny any activities that occur in Area 61," he answered.
"Then maybe you can tell us more about our murder victim, Randolph?" she suggested.
"Randolph was murdered?! How?!" that got a shocked reaction out of the stoic man.
"We're not at liberty to discuss details of active murder investigations, General Freeman," she smirked in satisfaction.
"Well played... Here's what I CAN tell you. We had intel that Randolph was still around Rhine Canyon. I launched a mission to bring him back to Area 61," he informed them, "and that is still my mission. I demand you bring his body and everything pertaining to your investigation to Area 61 immediately!"
"Fat chance, Freeman!" Amy shot back, "besides, people might get suspicious and start nosing around your super-secret hideout!"
"Poor Randolph... Quite a few people were convinced he was an alien and someone autopsied him to death! Were they trying to prove it?" Amy wondered, "Jarvis Donne has the expertise to have committed the murder. And he was convinced that Randolph was not an "Earthling"."
"General Freeman wanted to capture Randolph and take him back to Area 61," Adalet continued, "he still wants Randolph's body!"
"Adalet! You have to see this!" Hannah shouts as she stumbles into the office, "I just intercepted a message from space!"
"Hannah, what on Earth are you talking about?!" Amy questioned.
"Do you know about SFAL? The "Search For Alien Life"?" the two shook their heads, "researchers at SFAL scan the universe for radio waves in the hope of finding intelligent life! Well, I rigged my computer to intercept radio signal data from SFAL and I just saw data, not of this Earth!"
"Not from... Earth?" Adalet echoed.
"The data is not random, but repetitive. So far, my translation program has found the most repeated word: Krep-9!" she resembles, "Adalet, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Krep-9 the planet Randolph thought he was from?"
"Yes but-"
"It's not like we believed Randolph when he said that. How can you believe you've received a message from another plant?!" Amy demanded, cutting Adalet off.
"I'll work on translating the entire message, it'll probably shed some light on this," Hannah offered.
"In the meantime, whether we believe it or not, we should go check out the SFAL radar field!" Adalet said, reaching for her keys.
After getting the address for the radar field from Hannah, Adalet and Amy hurried out there to search for clues. Descending the stairs leading down to the commander center and field of satellite dishes, they spotted a torn photo on the ground just after the final step, and a bloody candy bag near the building that had just missed going into the trash can.
"Would you look at this place? Between the stars in the sky and all these radar dishes, I feel so small and insignificant..." Amy breaths looking around the field of satellites that stretched on for kilometres, "so what was the radar field hiding from us? A bag of candy! That's what the killer was eating while they autopsied Randolph..."
Adalet picks up the bag so that the lights around the building illuminated it further.
"Oh wait..." she gags, "that candy bag is covered in blood... There's more than enough blood for a sample, Adalet. I'll let you handle it. Please distract me... What else did you find?"
"A torn photo," Adalet supplied, swabbing the candy bag.
"With your puzzle skills, we'll have the whole picture soon enough!" she grins, already looking less green.
