《Killer Bay》Death is Not Our End

"Ahmet! Are you ready?!" Adalet yelled up the stairs, "we'll miss the flight if we don't leave right now!"
"Coming!" Ahmet called down as he rushed out of his room, the handle of his rolling suitcase in one hand, his stuffed wolf, Sirius, in the other.
"Alright, let's go!" she says ushering Ahmet and the dogs out of the cabin and locking it up behind them.
The four of them all piled into the back of their taxi and the driver pulled out onto the road. The ride to the airport was smooth and silent, Adalet and Ahmet just watched as the scenery changed around them as they drew closer and closer to the airport. When they arrived, they thanked the driver and unloaded their suitcases.
As the small family was walking through security, Adalet spotted some familiar people ahead of them. Frank and Andrea were standing at the end of the line, the senior detective seemed to be in a heated argument with the airport worker about something. The chief eventually just grabbed him by the arm and dragged him off to where a larger group was waiting. Adalet and Ahmet quickly moved through the security line and made their way over to the group.
The group was made up of all of Adalet's teammates plus some family. There was Yann with his wife Jessica and their kids, Lily and James. Ramirez was beside them telling the children some stories with the same animation he would use to his own. Amy, Hannah, and Russell stood off to the side not far away with Roxie telling them about her latest corpse, the rookie officer was looking a little green. Lastly, Andrea and Frank stood in front of them and smiled when they saw Adalet and Ahmet approach.
"What are you doing here?" inquired Adalet confused as to why each of them had luggage with them.
"Well, I decided the team needed a break from the city," Andrea replied, "and that you could you some support for your husband's funeral."
"So you guys are all coming to Grimsborough?!" she exclaimed.
"Yup!" Amy beamed, "I looked it up and it sounds amazing!"
"If a murder a day is your definition of amazing, I'm not going to any party you plan!" Adalet teased, "but you're not wrong, it is a nice place to visit."
"If only I could have brought my flask with me," Frank sighed, "flying makes me queasy!"
"Which is why I had Yann pick you up some medication," Andrea told him, "and why I made sure security confiscated your flask!"
"Don't worry, Frank!" Roxie laughed at their flight was called, "it's only a six-hour flight to Grimsborough!"

"Only?!" Frank cried.
Time-skip through the flight because the last time I was on a plane was when I was four so I don't remember anything about flying...
"If Russell says one more thing to me about psychology to me, I will strangle him!" Frank vowed.
"At least you weren't the one sitting next to the screaming baby!" Roxie complained pulling the earplugs out of her ears, "that kid has a set of lungs on them!"
"The good thing is we're here now," Yann says not fazed by the flight in the least, "so, do we call cabs for all of us or?"
"Actually," Ramirez spoke up, "I think our rides are right over there!"
The Pacific Bay police team turned to where the PI was pointing. Standing off to the side of the airport was a pair of men, one with brown hair and a blue dress shirt plus a tie, the other with longer hair and a grey hoodie with a pair of headphones. When the pair saw the group watching them, their face broke out into matching grins and they ran over.
"Adalet! Ramirez!" Jones yelled, "it's good to see you guys!"
"Jones!" Adalet grinned as her old partner hugged her, "I didn't think I'd miss seeing your ugly mug so quickly!"
He punched her in the arm, "the same goes for you, Grimsborough's been boring without you!"
"Yeah!" Alex chimed in, "we haven't even been sent a new Chief yet!"
"There's still no Chief?!" Adalet exclaimed, "what about a Mayor?"
"We have one of those," he replied, "Martha obviously stepped up, but according to the news our new Chief should be here soon."
"Where are the others?" Ramirez asks.
"Cathy is waiting for us at the hotel where you guys are staying," Jones answers, "Grace needed to go help Luke with something for his class at the University, so she might not make it for supper, so she asked me to tell you that's she's sorry."
"It's alright, I understand," Adalet responds, "what about Nathan, Valentina, and the kids?"
"Valentina and the kids are going to meet us at the studio," he replies, "she planning a big dinner to welcome you all to town!"
"You're going to love my wife's cooking!" Ramirez boasted to the others, "she has a talent for it!"
"I'm already hungry!" Frank laughed, "the faster we leave, the faster we get to eat!"
Everyone grabbed their suitcases and followed the Grimsborough men out of the airport. They led the team to the two large vans parked outside and they split into two parts. Jones took Andrea, Frank, Roxie, Ramirez, Adalet, Ahmet and the dogs, while Alex would be taking Yann, Jessica, Lily, James, Amy, and Russell. They would first be brought to the hotel and once they were settled in, they would head over to the studio for supper.

Another time-skip...
"Hey Jones," Adalet says as she and her old partner watched the others enjoying themselves at Valeneina's studio, "you never told me where Nathan was."
"Oh, ah..." Jones looked highly uncomfortable, "you see, the thing is... I don't know."
She raised an eyebrow, "you don't know?"
"Yeah," he replied, "about two weeks ago, Avi called me saying that he'd got home from school and Nathan wasn't there. I found a note from him saying he had to go away for a while and to take care of Avi."
"Do you know where he went?" she asks growing concerned.
He shook his head, "I searched the whole town all night trying to find him, but no one knows where he went... or why."
"I'll have a look around tomorrow, after Fili's funeral," she said petting Dean's head.
"I never got to tell you that I'm sorry," he says, "I know how much Fili meant to you."
She sighed, "it's not his death that's hard, it's the fact that I can't bury him that is."
He cocked his head in a 'huh' action.
"He was killed in an explosion," Adalet explained, "but when the MI6 went to retrieve his remains, the only thing they could find was a bloody room."
"A bloody room?" Jones echoed, "what do you mean?"
"I was able to read some of the official report regarding his last mission. Apparently, he was over in Australia when he was captured by the people he was spying on. He sent out a distress signal but by the time MI6 arrived..." she took a shaky breath, "I saw a picture of the room they think he was kept in... The walls, the floor, the ceiling... They were all painted in his blood..."
He pales, "oh God... There's no way someone could survive that much blood loss, even someone as big as Fili."
"I know," she sighed, "I just wish I knew what they did with his body..."
He pulls his old partner into a side hug, "I'm sure where ever he is now, he's at peace."
She returns the hug, "yeah, I think so too..."
Lats time-skip, I promise...
The mood was sombre as the people dressed in black stared at the casket in front of them. The large oak box was draped with the flag of Ireland, the honour guard which was made up of Fili's six closest coworkers from MI6 bent down to pick it up by the edges.
John, Quinn, James, Adalet and Ahmet stood closest to the casket as the firing party fired off three volleys. Once the last round had been fired, the burglar began playing "Traps" and the honour guard started folding the flag. As the last note faded away, one of the agents took the folded flag and presented it to Adalet. The captain gave a nod of thanks and held the flag close to her chest, a weight settling into her heart as the casket was slowly lowered into the ground.
James placed a hand on his sister-in-law's shoulder, "Fili's probably beating himself up there for breaking his promise."
Adalet gave a sad laugh, "probably... but it is good to see you again, James."
"Same to you, Adalet," he smiled, "I bet Jones already told you how boring this city has been since you left."
"He did!" she chuckled, "I've only be gone less than three months! It can't be that boring..."
John chuckled, "they mean the murders have gone down, after the Crimson Order was arrested the number of murders seemed to get cut in half!"
"Really?" Adalet questioned.
"Yes," Quinn answered, "it's remarkable, really."
"And the best part is-!" Cathy was cut off by her cell phone ringing, she flushed, "sorry, I could have sworn I had put it on silent... Just let me... Hello?"
"Is this the police?!" a loud male voice could be heard shouting from the speaker.
Cathy ripped the phone away from her ear, "yes?"
"Good, it's Charles Parker!" the voice continued still yelling, "I'm at my greenhouse, and I just found a body!"
"What?!" Jones cried taking the phone, "Mr. Parker, you found a body?!"
"Yes!" they could still hear Charles, "I just came in to check my plants, and I found a body bleeding into my flower beds!! You better send someone over here right now!"
"Understood," he replied, "we'll have someone over there shortly."
"Well," Grace says as Jones ended the call, "looks like the murders are back!"
"Yeah," Jones handed Cathy her phone, "well, looks like we have a case!"
"Hey, Adalet do you want to work on it?!" Alex offered excitedly, "it'll be just like old times!"
"Well..." Adalet thought about, "why not! Want to help me, Frank?"
"You want me to work on my vacation?!" Frank cried, "jeez Adalet, you must have been one hard Chief!"
"Frank," Andrea said.
He gulped, "but not as hard as Andrea, let's change out of these threads first, Adalet, then we can get to work!"
