Art is by on !!

"That day went... really well." I looked over at Baldi, leaning back in the car seat. "I'm actually surprised."

Baldi ended up teaching the whole day and exempting me from my classes to do boring paperwork. The Principal's job seemed painfully easy. All that was on his checklist was basic things like Make sure school is clean, faculty conference, check email. I just sat there for two periods, scrolling through the Principal's email.

I didn't find anything interesting.

"So, Reese apologised?" He asked, pulling out of the parking lot.

"Hm? Oh, yeah. It was a mutual apology. I think we're good now," I said happily, tracing the shape of the inside of the car with my foot. "She seemed pretty genuine, so I'm glad."

Baldi raised an eyebrow. He didn't seem to believe me fully. But he shrugged and drove anyway.

I looked out the window and saw buildings I've never seen before. Worriedly, I turned to look at him.

"Is this the way home?..."

Baldi laughed and shook his head. "No, I'm taking you somewhere. I have something important I need to do." He looked away as he finished his sentence.

"Okay... where are you taking me?" I was curious why he didn't just go straight home. He worked really hard today, and clearly needed some rest. But even though the school day was over, he seemed nervous, scared even.

No answer.

I decided to try to lighten up whatever mood was present by joking around.

"You're in a suit so it can't be anywhere fun." I tugged at his tie lightly.

He cracked a smile.

"There's the smile," I stuck my tongue out at him and he stifled a laugh. "You worry me, you know. When you're quiet like that."

He kept on driving, and gave a long sigh. "I'm just nervous is all." He said simply.

I didn't want to make him more uncomfortable by questioning further, so I just nodded and looked out the window.

The car persisted through an rocky path, lined with towering conifers. Several small animals passed in front of the car, and I swore I saw a deer peek its head out from behind a tree trunk.

It was rather relaxing to watch the woodsy seen pass by. I leaned against the window and took in every tiny detail.

I lived in the city before coming here, so I barely got to see anything like this. It was... nice.

"Okay," Baldi said with a small hitch in his voice. "We're here."

My head turned to look out the windshield.

A gorgeous lake, lined with cattails and waterlilies sat in front of us. A blossom tree scattered petals across the grass in the breeze.

"It's beautiful..." I said quietly, pressing my hand against the glass. "How did you know about this?"

Baldi looked at me with a warm expression. "It's just a little spot I come to a lot to just... forget about things."

I smiled. "Well it's not much of an experience sitting in the car." I pushed the door open and ran in front of the car, waving him over with my hand. He looked at me and his shoulders loosened. He seemed to reach down for something and stuff it in his blazer pocket.

"Come on!!" I yelled.

He exited the car and walked up to me, staring at me for a few seconds.

"What?" I asked, looking up at him.

He laughed and wrapped his arms around me. "You," he smiled. "Just you. You're just so amazing."

My cheeks flushed and I giggled.

"You too." I rested my head against his chest and he leaned down and kissed the top of my head.

The sun began to go down, covering the landscape in hues of orange and gold.

"Look at that sunset. I never really get to see those." I pointed at the sky and observed the purples, pinks and reds painting the clouds. "It's better without a bunch of skyscrapers in the way."

"Let's go down to the lake." He pulled me to his side and walked me down to the bank side.

I began to sit down until he held out his hand. "Wait. I... have something I need to do." He took a step back from me and glanced over at the lake, then back again.

He took my hands in his and laughed nervously.

"Look, (Y/N)," his face flushed. I could feel how nervous he was. My mind raced with possibilities of what he could be doing.

Sunset, beautiful place, suit and tie... was he?...

"I know this sounds really sappy, but you literally mean everything to me. Ever since you came here, I've been so much happier. You're practically the thing holding me together at this point."

He isn't, is he?! He's really going to?

"And I honestly never want to live another day without you in it. And I know it's sudden and everything but..." he trailed off and let go of my hands.

I finally registered what he had said before.

"I'd love to see you in a white one."

My heart beat sped up like a race horse. I stepped back and covered my mouth as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a tiny box.

He kneeled down in front of me. Opened the box.

"Will you marry me?"

I stood there, silent in complete shock. I uncovered my mouth and laughed, feeling tears brimming my eyes.

I thought about it.

My mom wouldn't approve. The entire school would know. But...

I wanted to.

I didn't care how sudden it was. I had nothing to lose. I had no reason not to. He was everything to me too at this point. We had each other.

A tear spilled from my eye and I happily nodded. "Yes! I will!"

He pulled the ring out and slid it onto my finger.

"I was so scared," he practically threw the box and wrapped me in a warm embrace. "Oh my god, I'm so happy."

I hugged back and felt more tears roll down my cheek. Happy tears.

"M-Me too, I just don't know what to say." I laughed and dug my face into his neck. "I'm just shocked. You never fail to surprise me."

He pulled back but still held onto me. I swore I saw a tear at the corner of his eye too.

"It was just driving me insane, I just wanted to ask so bad and..."

"I'm so happy you did, don't be stupid." I smiled and held his head with my hands. "And I don't care what anyone else thinks."

I pulled his head down and kissed him deeply. It had so much more meaning now. I don't know why but I just felt... complete. He was the thing I was missing in my life.

He pulled back after a few moments and laughed happily, smiling the brightest I'd ever seen him smile.

"My fiancé," he said and looked at me. "My fiancé!" He picked me up and twirled me around, causing me to giggle in happiness. "YOU'RE MY FIANCÉ!" He screamed and pulled me back down, holding me close.

I was practically smashed against him. "Baldi, stop," I chuckled.

"I'm never letting go of you. Ever." He planted dozens of kisses on the top of my head. "You're my angel."

"And fianc-"

"YES! That too." He cupped my cheek and gently tilted my head up to look at him.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
