《Dazed and Confused | s. hyde》Chapter 2

☀︎ one week later ☀︎

"Yeah so we usually are all in the basement at any time. You'll even find Hyde there at 2 in the morning sometimes," Donna explained to Randall while the two were talking in Donna's room. "I have to head out, date with Eric, but if you get bored just head in."

"Okay thanks, sounds fun," responded Randall.

After Donna left to go out with Eric, she wasn't sure if she should go to the basement like Donna said or if she should stay in her room. She decided to just hang out in Eric's basement because it aught to have been better than sitting alone. When she got there, Hyde and Fez were watching Gilligan's Island. She stood against the doorway for a bit because she didn't really want to intrude.

Fez suddenly turned to the side,"Oh hello, we were just watching Gilligan's Island. Oh how I love Gilligan," Fez said, pronouncing Gilligan incorrectly. Randall let out a laugh and Hyde just looked up.

"You laugh weird," he said. Hyde found himself a little fond of Emma Randall, but he hates showing that he has any feelings whatsoever, so he usually covers it up by being mean.

"I don't like Zeppelin," She said teasingly.

"Oh you take that back!" Hyde said hurtfully while getting out of his seat.

Emma stood up taller, "I will if you say my laugh is normal."

"Fine, your laugh isn't strange," Hyde said.

"Fine, Zeppelin is not bad," she replied, and he sat back down after that.

"I am not sure if you are aware but those are very bad compliments," Fez said. "And get out the way, I cannot see my Gilligan," he said because Emma was still blocking the T.V.

She sat down next to Fez for a bit just watching the show until Donna and Eric got back.

There were footsteps coming down from the stairs, it was Eric and Donna. "Hey guys guess what?!" exclaimed Eric.

"What," Fez exclaimed back.

"My dad's thinking of giving me the Vista Cruiser," he said.

"Thank God!" Hyde exclaimed.

"Wow Eric, have I ever told you how attractive you are," Fez said. He even batted his eyes a bit, but he was just trying to get driving rights.

"No, you haven't," Eric replied.

"Once, you told me if Eric was a girl you would date him," Hyde said.

Fez just laughed nervously and Randall let out a laugh.

"Guys, you're missing the point. We can leave the town!" Eric exclaimed.

"Your dad said no going out of town," Donna said.

"Okay well you know what, he doesn't have to know anything," Eric responded.

"Wow, my soft little Eric has gone tough," Donna said, amused.

"Well, now that I have a car, I am pretty manly," Eric said.

"In your dreams you are," said Fez.

"You guys are so strange," Randall said to all of them.

Just then, Kitty and Red walked down the basement stairs and asked to see Eric.

Eric walked up to his parents and when he was at the first step, he turned around and flexed his tiny muscles to the gang while sticking his tongue out.

The next day, after they all got the news that Eric got the Vista Cruiser, they all decided that they would go see a Todd Rundgren concert.

Everyone arrived at the basement, and they then went upstairs, outside, and into the car. Red walked outside to say bye to them, but mostly to remind them that there's no going out of town.

"Oh crap, now we can't leave," Eric said disappointedly.

"Eric, this is your car, you are a man. You get to decide whether we go or not," Donna said.

"Alright! Lets go see Todd Rundgren!" Eric replied.

Hyde and Randall were sat next to each other in the car. Donna and Eric were talking, Jackie and Kelso were making out, and Fez was napping.

"So, why did you move in with Donna," asked Hyde.

"Oh you know, reasons," she replied, slurring her words so he would hopefully drop the subject. She didn't like to share the fact that her dad was in jail and her mom was absent.

"Come on man, I don't bite," Hyde said, prying. She wasn't exactly sure why Steven Hyde seemed to care about her personal life, but she shared anyways.

"Fine, well my father's in jail and my absent mother doesn't really care about anything anymore. Happy now?" Randall asked.

"Yeah, I am. But you know, you're lucky. My dad bailed when I was seven and my mom's never home either, at least you have an aunt an uncle who took you in," Hyde said.

"Oh my, I didn't know. It really sucks, doesn't it?" Randall said.

"Yeah man," Hyde said back.

"Well, I hope it works out for you," she said while tucking her hair behind her ear. Over the past week, Hyde has kind of grown to like her. So he put his hand on her thigh.

"That was sympathy, Hyde. Not an invitation for you to put your hand on my thigh," she said.

She smiled, and Hyde didn't move his hand. "Move your hand," she said while letting out a little laugh.

He just moved his hand up and down her thigh instead of moving it off her. "You are one smooth son of a bitch," she said.

"And you like me," he said, not looking at her.

"No I don't. Move the damn hand!" she said.

Hyde moved his hand from her thigh and put it around her shoulder instead.

"Oh now you're just trying to bug me," she said.

"Yes I am, actually," he responded.

But this time, she didn't tell him to move his hand.

☀︎

After the concert, they got home and hung out in Eric's basement. Randall was new, so she took the spot closest to Hyde's chair on the couch and Fez sat on the dryer. After they got sick of TV, they went out to play basketball. The rest of the night was just as good as the concert, and Emma Randall was starting to properly feel like a part of the group.
