"Ɩ'm going to give Snoke a piece of my mind for hurting my baby," Leia said as they reached the throne room doors.
"Mother..." Ben began, he knew that while his mother was fierce enough to make most men want to run and hide; Snoke wouldn't hesitate to kill her and Ben couldn't let that happen.
"You won't have a chance, sweetheart. I'm going to kill him the moment I lay eyes on him after what he did to our son," Han said.
"Father, please don't..." Ben began, knowing that Snoke would be ready for an attack the moment he saw them. But his parents weren't listening to him, the whole reason he had joined Snoke was to protect his parents from him. He couldn't just let them throw themselves into danger like this because of him.
As they stepped towards the door, Ben stepped in front of them. "I can't let you do that, it's too dangerous. I should be the one to do it."
"Ben, you're not in the condition to fight him," Leia told him gently.
"Let me speak to him; please," Rey said. "Maybe I can convince him to surrender."
Ben nodded, he was her grandfather and if Rey thought that she could convince him to stand down without a fight, then he was willing to give her a chance. She had helped him change, maybe she could do the same for Snoke. He placed his hand on her cheek. "Just be careful."
"I will," she promised.
Ben nodded, taking her hand in his to show her that he was there for her and that she didn't have to face this alone in a way that words could not.
Rey brushed her thumb over the top of his hand in reply. Then they all entered the throne room to find Snoke sitting on the throne.
Rey took a deep breath, squeezing Ben's hand briefly before she released it and stepped forward. She approached her grandfather, calmly all of the hate and fear she'd felt before were gone.
"Grandfather, I don't want you to get hurt, you're the last of my family. You hurt my husband, but I've forgiven you for that because I don't want to let my hate rob me of happiness again. I forgave Ben and I've forgiven you too, we could be a family. Just surrender, we don't have to fight."
"We already are a family, my child," he stood and walked towards her. "I see that you've broken the prisoners out of the dungeon. You come in here, hand in hand with the man who betrayed your grandfather, the man who murdered your father."
Tears filled Ben's eyes and he lowered his head in shame. He felt the weight of that day all over again. And now his parents knew the truth, they probably wouldn't understand why Rey had forgiven him or why she'd fallen in love with him. He didn't understand it either, he knew that he didn't deserve it but he just wanted to make her happy.

Han and Leia turned to look at him, as if they weren't sure rather or not they could believe Snoke. But the shame that was written across his face confirmed Snoke's words.
Rey sighed, she hadn't wanted his parents to find out about that; but now they knew. Her heart felt heavy, knowing what he must be feeling in that moment. And she knew that he still hadn't forgiven himself, she hoped that he would in time but she could still see it in his eyes. Now as she thought about it she wondered what he would've done if he learned the truth and she hadn't offered him her forgiveness.
"He didn't murder him, it was an accident he was attacked from behind and my father got mixed up in the fight. It wouldn't have happened if you didn't send him to destroy my village. Your orders were to kill everyone including the women and the children, he risked facing your wrath to spare me and the others," she answered. "My father's blood is on your hands, still I will forgive you because that's what is right."
It was obvious that Snoke had ignored the forgiveness she was offering him as he continued to speak against Ben. "Still it was his blade that slew him."
"I've forgiven him," she repeated.
"This is the very reason I ordered you not to go to him, he is weak like his parents. You carry my blood, my strength and he has made you weak."
"No he makes me strong, it doesn't take strength to give in to vengeance, but forgiving someone takes great strength. Was it weakness that made me take his punishment?" She looked back at Ben and offered him a sad smile. "Or attempt to anyway."
Ben didn't say anything, but he looked at her with affection; his eyes speaking volumes.
"No it was foolishness," Snoke replied, drawing his sword.
Rey watched him cautiously.
"Did I not warn you what I would do if you went to him?" He lunged towards Ben.
Rey's heart froze. Ben was in no condition to fight and he couldn't run, he could barely walk alone.
"No!" she screamed and without a moment's hesitation, she jumped between them. She felt a sharp pain as the blade of his sword sliced her side.
As he slammed against her, he fell on her raised sword. The bloodstained tip of it emerged from his back.
Tears spilt from her eyes. "I'm sorry grandfather."
He looked at her in surprise before his eyes went dark and he fell to the stone floor dead.
Rey looked down at the bloodstained sword in her hand, she dropped it and looked at her hands. She had killed him. She hadn't meant to, she'd just moved instinctively to protect Ben. She started to cry, he was in no way a good person...he'd tried to kill her when she was little and he had abused her husband since he was a child; but she wasn't heartless. He was still her grandfather no matter what he had done.

Ben felt his heart breaking, it was his fault that this had happened. He knew the guilt that she must feel and it was his fault, she'd done it to protect him. He doubted that she would want him around right now, but he loved her and when she was in pain he wanted nothing more than to comfort her.
He limped over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder.
She turned to look at him and when she saw him standing there, she threw her arms around him and began to cry on his shoulder. "I didn't mean to...I...I just couldn't let him kill you."
He rubbed her back soothingly. "Shhh...shhh I know," he whispered, trying to calm her down. He felt tears stinging his own eyes, not for Snoke but for her. He hoped that she could forgive herself for this, he knew what it was like to carry this kind of guilt.
"Are you alright?" he asked her after a moment.
"Yes," she whispered, letting out a shuttering sigh.
She took several deep breaths and when he was sure that she had calmed down he scolded her slightly. "You shouldn't have jumped in front of me, you could have been killed." There was no anger in his voice; only concern.
She covered the deep cut on her side so that he wouldn't see it. The edge of Snoke's sword had caught her as she moved in front of Ben, but she didn't want him to know that she had gotten hurt protecting him; it would only make him feel guilty. She reached up and cupped his cheek in her palm, pulling him down closer to her. "You're worth it," she whispered. Then she kissed him affectionately, not caring that others were watching.
He returned the kiss enthusiastically, expressing his overwhelming relief that she was alright.
It was the first time they had kissed in front of his parents and he could imagine what they must be thinking. They were probably happy that they had finally began to love each other, but they were probably confused too. Especially after what Snoke had said.
"I love you, Ben," she whispered against his lips.
"I love you too, sweetheart," he breathed. He reached down, placing his hand over hers where it rested on her side. His brow creased as he felt how wet it was, he lifted his and looked at it to find it stained crimson. He looked down at her hand, the scarlet liquid was slowly flowing over it. "You're bleeding," his voice was filled with concern.
She sighed in defeat; she'd hoped that he wouldn't notice.
He looked around desperately for something to use to stop the blood. Finally, he tore off a corner of his shirt, then he moved her hand and pressed it firmly against her side.
"How deep is it?" he asked.
"It's just a scratch," she replied.
He raised an eyebrow in disbelief.
"It's just a flesh wound," she amended. "I'll be okay."
"You still need a doctor," he told her.
She nodded; she wasn't going to deny that she did.
Ben didn't want to leave her, but he felt that it was his duty to end this war. With Snoke dead; there was no reason to continue fighting. "I don't want to leave you but..."
"I know," she interrupted. "I'm coming with you."
"No, you're staying here, you're hurt. You're in no condition to fight," he answered.
"Neither are you," she replied stubbornly.
Finn came over to them. "We'll take care of it, you take care of her."
"Thank you, Finn," Ben answered; relieved that he could stay with Rey.
Finn nodded, then he and the others left to try to call off the fight.
The king and queen stayed behind, along with Christopher and the doctor.
Ben sat down on the floor and gently pulled Rey into his lap. He kept his hand over her wound to slow the bleeding.
King Han and Queen Leia came over to them.
"Is she alright?" King Han asked; the concern all too obvious in his voice.
"I'm okay," Rey placed her hand over Ben's.
"Thank you for saving our son, Rey. I could never thank you enough," said Leia.
Rey intertwined her fingers with Ben's, she gave him an affectionate smile. "I would do anything for him."
Ben smiled warmly at her. "I would do anything for you too." He leaned down to place a soft kiss on her lips.
Han smiled. "I'm glad that you two are happy together."
"Thank you father," Ben replied.
"About what Snoke said ..." Rey began.
The doctor then came over to join them. "May I take a look at her?" he unknowingly interrupted.
King Han and Queen Leia stepped aside to allow the doctor to get to Rey.
"Of course," Leia answered.
The doctor knelt down beside them and Ben moved his hand so that he could see the wound.
"She'll be fine. It's deep but it's just a cut not a stab wound. The blade didn't cut deep enough to do anything serious, we just need to stop the bleeding," the doctor said. "And it'll need stitches as soon as we can get her somewhere more safe and comfortable."
Rey grimaced at that, unlike Ben she wouldn't have the mercy of being unconscious while she was being stitched. She knew that it was going to hurt a thousand times more than the cut itself had.
"I'll bandage it for now, that should keep her from bleeding out," the doctor pulled a long bandage from his bag.
Ben cradled Rey in his arms as the doctor wrapped the bandage around her waist. He knew that the wound wasn't fatal, but he couldn't help but worry.
The doctor smiled at him. "Don't worry, she's okay."
Ben nodded, gently running his fingers through her hair. He still felt bad that she'd gotten hurt because of him.

The Dao of Magic

First, they sent all the sect masters and hidden dao protectors to off me - which failed, obviously. Heh, afterwards they simply bitch slapped me out of their universe though. That is interesting and all, but I just woke up in a valley watching some critters murder each other while trying not to freak out about how bad it smells here.Soo… where the fuck am I? Sanguine
The Coles are probably the definition of a small dysfunctional family, even if they weren’t the worst in existence; they would probably be lauded as an example of the term. The Coles were a small family though. The father, Oliver Cole, was an asshole ex-football jock who bounced around in small paying jobs after wasting most of his life drinking, drugging and whoring. The daughter, Stacy Cole, was smart, but had many issues including anger, trouble with authority, and occasional suicidal thoughts, and was kicked out of many a school for disruptive behaviour. The son, Mike Cole, was innocent, and tried his best to be kind to anyone and everyone, however his own speech impediment, and slow nature only aided people to bully and belittle him, including his own father. The Coles were indeed a dysfunctional family. At least they were, until they got to the small town near the border between the United States and Canada, Sanguine. Welcome to Sanguine. You will stay. With the exception of the first chapter, each chapter only follows one character. The first chapter is the only chapter in which I will include 'Sides' where it follows a different character. This is a short Lovecraftian story, it won't go above seventeen chapters. Note: the book cover is my first attempt, it might not even remain like it is, I was just tired of seeing the standard 'no cover' thing on it.
