"There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness."
♰ ♰ ♰
Allison drives Isabel and Lydia back to their house. The drive is awkward as the silence burns through the air. Allison pulls up outside the girl's house and takes a deep breath, rubbing her forehead with her hands. Lydia watches her as she turns to face her.
"I need you to promise that you won't say anything about what just happened," Allison speaks.
"I'll promise not to say anything about what just happened if you can tell me what the hell just happened!" Lydia exclaims.
"It- It's kinda complicated. I..." Allison stumbles over her words.
"How about you start with: why was Derek there? Or, where Jackson went? Or what is wrong with Erica?!" Allison clenches her jaw as Isabel sits quietly in the back. "Oh, do you need a minute to come up with a plausible lie?"
"Part of the reason I'm asking is because Scott and I aren't supposed to be seeing each other, ok? So, it's better if you just keep what you know to yourself."
"Fine." Lydia snaps. "I'll keep what I know about you and your boyfriend, which is nothing, to myself." Lydia breathes out, shaking her head as she starts to exit the car.
Allison reaches out, stopping Lydia from leaving.
"Hey." She calls out softly. "He's not just my boyfriend you get that, right?" Lydia looks at the brunette annoyed.
"Let me go." Lydia coldly snaps.
"Just for one second - please. Just try to remember-"
"Remember what?!" She interrupts, impatiently.
"Remember what it feels like," Allison explains. "What it feels like all those times in school when you see him standing down the hall, and you cannot breathe until you're with him." Allison breathes out, "Or those times in class when you... you can't stop looking at the clock because you know he's right out there waiting for you! Don't you remember what that's like?" Lydia watches the girl in silence before slightly shaking her head.
"No," Lydia responds truthfully.
"What do you mean no? You've had boyfriends." Allison asks confused.
"None like that." Lydia quietly breathes out, before leaving the car without another word. Isabel and Allison sit silently, taking in Lydia's words.
Isabel exits the back seat and jumps into the front seat. She gives Allison a look of frustration.
"I don't know why you all kept this from me, but I want to know everything." She demands the huntress.
Allison sighs, looking at her best friend guiltily. After having Allison catch her up on the latest supernatural issue in their lives, Isabel heads back inside her house to find Lydia.

She makes her way through the house, hearing Lydia calling out for her dog - Prada. She finds Lydia standing in the doorway, calling the dog's name, when she hears Isabel come up behind her she gives her a pointed look.
"Prada is copying you." Lydia jokes, Isabel gives a confused look. Lydia sighs, "Prada has gone off somewhere and disappeared into the night. Sounds more like your forte."
Isabel rolls her eyes, moving past Lydia into the backyard. She turns her head back to ask where Prada had run off to, but Lydia already knew she was going to ask and points toward the back gate.
"You find Prada, I'm going to have a shower," Lydia calls out, Isabel gives a nod in agreement as she reaches the back gate.
Isabel pauses as she hears footsteps and crunching of leaves coming from around the corner of the gate. She freezes in her spot, checking behind to make sure Lydia had gone before building her energy and preparing her chaos as the footsteps begin to round the corner.
Isabel jumps back as the boy from the counsellor's office appears from the shadows, holding Prada. She quickly turns away, attempting to hide her magic.
"Lose something?" He chuckles.
Isabel sighs, turning back as the chaos dissipates into her veins. She gives a sheepish smile, reaching forward to take Prada from his hands. She strokes Prada and she walks back toward the house and motions for the dog to make its way back inside. Prada scurries off to find Lydia, leaving Isabel standing with the teen on the back porch.
"So, should I call the police, or is there a non-creepy explanation for being in our yard in the middle of the night?" Isabel jokes, turning to face the teen boy as she holds her arms to try and generate some warmth.
"I heard him barking, and I live in the house back there. Is that okay, or should I start running?" He jokes back, a cheeky smile on his face.
"I'll let you off then. Well, thanks for bringing him back." Isabel smiles, before starting to make her way back inside.
"Everything okay?" He asks, causing her to stop in place again.
"'Okay' meaning what?" Isabel questions, frowning at the boy.
"Meaning, are you all right? I saw what happened in class." He corrects, staring into her eyes.
"We're not crazy." Isabel sighs. "I may be the girl who jumps out of hospital windows and sleepwalks naked with my cousin, and sees hallucinations of my dead mom, but I'm not crazy."
"Sounds perfectly normal to me." He grins, giving a slight chuckle.

Isabel smiles back, grateful for the chance to talk to someone. Lately, it seemed no one had time to just ask how she was doing. Isabel watches as he steps closer, she slightly frowns as she steps back. He looks into her eyes confused.
"Why'd you do that?" He asks.
"Do what?"
"You-you stepped back..."
"You stepped forward." Isabel counters.
"Maybe I wanted to kiss you?" He shrugs, Isabel lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding as her mind wanders off to Stiles.
"Maybe I don't want you to." Isabel shrugs back. The boy grins at her words.
"Does that mean...? Maybe I could...?"
"If you want me to maybe punch you in the throat." Isabel grins back.
"I think it would be worth it." He chuckles, "How about this?" He asks, taking her cold hand in his.
She freezes in her place as he raises her hand to his lips and presses a kiss onto her skin. She feels the blush rush to her cheeks as she watches his movements. She can't help but feel guilty.
He leans in again, but this time he moves his body to the side as he reaches behind her. He pulls a flower from the awning and holds it out to her. Isabel raises her free hand to take the flower.
"Promise to keep it? If I ask you tomorrow if you have it, and you say "no," I'm gonna be really hurt." He smiles.
"Well, if I don't have it, I'll lie." Isabel grins, before dropping her hand out of his and heading back inside the house.
♰ ♰ ♰
The next day after school, Isabel knocks on the Argent house door. She and Allison were supposed to study tonight, and the huntress hadn't responded to any of her messages.
Chris answers the door, smiling as he sees the young witch on the doorstep. He lets the teen in, and he makes her way up to Allison's room. When she opens the door, she looks around to see Allison wasn't home.
Isabel throws herself down on Allison's bed, still feeling like they were still not telling her everything.
After an hour, she hears Allison arrive at home and sits up on her bed to wait. Allison enters the room, and turns her light on, jumping as she spots Isabel sitting on her bed.
"You scared the hell out of me," Allison exclaims, grabbing at her chest as she takes deep breaths.
"I've been sitting here for an hour, waiting for you," Isabel tells the huntress.
Allison sighs as she pulls her bag off of her shoulder and places it down.
"I can't hang out right now, Izzy," Allison responds, removing her hat and scarf. Isabel rolls her eyes at the brunette.
"Well, for starters we were supposed to study for History? Remember?" She explains as Allison gives a sheepish smile. "But, I don't need anyone to hang out with, Ally. I just need someone to talk to."
"I-I understand that it's important, but if it can just wait-" Allison says, running her hands through her hair. Isabel sighs at her words.
"Why is everyone telling me to wait? Why can't anyone have "right now" available?" Isabel exclaims, feeling the build-up of the last few weeks leaking out.
"Because you can't have everything right now. You know what I need? I need someone to translate five pages of archaic Latin. Obviously, that's not gonna happen anytime soon." Allison stresses.
"I know archaic Latin." Isabel gives a pointed look.
"You know archaic Latin?" Allison asks incredulously.
"I got bored with classical Latin, Lydia pushed for me to learn it with her," Isabel explains.
"Just how smart are you both?!" Allison looks at the girl in disbelief.
"Just show me the pages," Isabel says impatiently. "Does this have to do with what you guys were hiding from me?" She asks.
Allison gives her an apologetic look as Isabel moves over to Allison's desk, where Allison pulled up the pages they needed to be translated.
"Hey, I'm sorry," Allison tells her quietly. Isabel looks at her before looking away, ignoring her apology.
"Like the wolf, its power is greatest at the moon's peak. Like the wolf, the Kanima is a social creature but where the wolf seeks a pack the Kanima seeks a master." Isabel translates. Allison looks at her confused.
"Are you sure? Ms. Morrell said that word means "friend." "The Kanima seeks a friend."
"She was wrong- it means "master," Isabel confirms.
"The Kanima seeks a master..." Allison whispers to herself.
"Lydia knows Archaic Latin too. She's the one that pushed me to learn it. I can get her to double-check just in case."
Allison nods, watching as Isabel takes a photo on her phone and sends the passage to Lydia. Within moments, Lydia translates the same passage and comes back with the same translation.
"Someone's not protecting him - someone's controlling him." Isabel determines, turning back to face Allison who has a worried look on her face.
