《His painful rejection》Chapter 26 face to face

I walked out into the clearing. To see that all the rogues had stopped fighting and were now sniffing the air. The packs looked at them bewildered. I would too if all of a sudden the person I'm fighting against stops throwing the punches. I'm no masques yeah I hate getting hurt but it would just be odd.
The rogues turned and looked at me. The packs bared their canines at them, worried that they might try to harm me. I give them a reassuring smile and walk closer to the rogues.
"Your leader has been defeated," I said as I looked at them all. "You are free to stay in my pack. I will not force you to stay and if you wish to leave you're free to do so."
Some nodded and gave me a quick, "thank you," others glared my way. I nodded and walked up to Hunter. Before I could reach him a hand grabbed my shoulder and pulled me away. I crashed to the floor with an "omf".
Hunter and the packs growled at the rouge. I stood up ignoring the shot of pain that ran up my spin. I turned around only to come face to face with a pissed of Megan.
"You fucking slut!" She screamed. "I was the one that was supposed to be Luna." I caught her fist before it connected with my face.
I looked at her dead in the eyes, "Let it go," I said. "There is no point to this anymore."
"I will never let it go. An omega, a loser, should never be in a position like the one you are in now," she pulled her fist away, "you should have never returned," she hissed. "You were better of taken for dead. And now look at all that has happened because of you." She pointed, "people have died, have gotten hurt, or have lost someone they love because of you. how much more will have to fall because of you, huh?" she asked.
I stared at her running what she had just said through my brain once more. she is right people had gotten hurt because of me. It is my fault people were dead. it is my fault my mother was dead, and it is my fault that Roy died.
Hunter came up to me and wrapped his arms around my waist, "don't listen to her. She's doing this to get into your head like she always does," he cooed. He was right and I knew what she was doing but I couldn't help think about it. I couldn't stop tasting the sour taste of her words. Who no matter for what reason she was saying them were true and will always be true. I knew were true everyone knew they were there.
I pushed Hunter away as she came closer to me, "you know it's true even if you don't want to admit it," she said with a smile, "or am I wrong?" she asked as she tilted her head and knitted her brows. The smile she wore was one of victory one that I had to see everyday for six miserable years of my life. The one that always said she won the battle against me but today...today was not a battle this was a war and it is a war I intend to win.
"Like it or not," I said, as I took a step closer to her. "I am now the leader of these rogues. And because of your greed for power you left your pack and are a rogue now too. So which means that you listen to me."

She laughed and poked my chest, "I will never listen to you," she tilted her head and smiled at me. "You know Kristen you could have changed the way you look and dress, but you will always be that nobody that no one liked." She smiled and poked my chest, "you will always be that unlovable nerd nobody ever liked. The one that nobody ever wanted from the beginning."
"That is a total bull shit!" Hunter yelled at her and others around us agreed.
I gritted my teeth and glared at her. My fist clenched and unclenched at my side. She kept on talking but all I could think of is different ways to murder her. After all I could just order everyone to never say a word about this. Yet again I will have to live with more than one person's blood on my hands. And do I really want that?...Hmmm... tempting, but sadly I can't. I have to take the high road or I will never be better than her i will be just like her and I would never forgive myself is I fell to her level.
"Shut up!" I said in my alpha voice. Making everyone around us bow their heads. Megan stayed quiet and stared at me shock written all over her face.
"You will shut up now. I can not stand your squeaky voice," I pushed her making her stumble back. "You will listen to me right now, you hear," I hissed.
She nodded and looked at me frightened. "For years I've had to hear your insult. And I've let you abuse me. You have never been nice to me. And when I was ever happy you tried to find ways to make my life miserable. I put up with your bull all my life, but today...today I'm done with it. You will shut the hell up or I will shut you up. Do you understand?" I asked in a deadly tone.
Megan stared at me and didn't say a word. "I said did you hear me?" I roared.
Megan coward in fear and nodded, "y-yes Kristen... I-I mean alpha," she said with a bow of her head
"You May go now," I said to her. She nodded and walked away quickly.
Hunter came and hugged me from behind, "that," I pointed at Megan who was walking away, "felt awesome."
Hunter smiled and kissed my forehead. "I'm glad for you," he said.
"Do you think this is all over?" I asked
Hunter shrugged shook his head "I can not tell you if it is, but if it isn't we'll be ready for it."
I nodded and looked around. A third of the rogues had left. They could have had a better life and food with the pack, but they made their choice and I can not force them to stay.
My dad walked up to me and gave me a sad smile. I gave him a hug and looked him in the eyes.
"Are you okay dad?" I asked.
My dad sighed and looked at me, "yeah sweetie I'm fine," he gave me another hug. "Your uncle passed away an hour ago," he said.
"I thought you would be happy because of that dad," I said confused.
"Even after all he did. He is still my brother and I still care about him," he said. " I just wish none of this had happened," he ran his hand through his grayish hair.

"I'm sorry dad," I said as I held his hand and gave him a sad smile.
He smiled back and cupped the side of my face, "it's okay as long as my baby girl is safe," he said with a smile, I smiled back.
Our small moment was interrupted with Jace running up to us. Tears were running down his cheeks and his face was full of worry.
"Jace what's wrong," Hunter asked as he ran to his friend I ran behind him.
"It's Lucy," he said as he collapsed to the floor and began to cry.
"What about Lucy?" I asked as I knelt down and grabbed his face. I stared him straight in his blood shut eyes.
His words were muffled and hard to understand.
"Jace what's wrong with Lucy!" I yelled as tears began to stain my cheeks. Jace kept crying and wouldn't look me in the eyes.
Anger boiled inside me and I did what I had to do I slapped him across the face and shook him, "get a hold of yourself!" I yelled and Jace nodded. "Where is Lucy and what is wrong with her?”
Jace took me to where Lucy was. A few of the pack doctors were around her checking her pulse and any sign of life.
"Is she okay?" Jace asked.
The doctor rose his hand up asking jace to wait. After a few seconds the doctor stood up and turned to us.
"Is she?" I asked
The doctor sighed, "she's breathing but if we don't take her to the pack house soon she won't be for long," he said.
Jace rammed the doctor into a nearby tree. His canines bared at the trembling doctor who was now being held above the ground by Jace.
"Jace put him down," I said as I touched his shoulder. he shook his head and began to choke the doctor. "Jace you're hurting him. Lucy would not want to see you act this way," that caught his attention he dropped the doctor and turned to his mate who was now being carried away.
Jace ran up to them and took her from them. Without a word he began to run towards the pack house with Lucy in his arms.
I let out a breathe that I had no idea I was holding back and helped out the doctor, "I'm sorry for the way he acted," I said to the poor man who clutched his now sore throat.
"Don't worry about it Luna a mate can't help being over protective about his mate specially when she's injured," I nodded and excused myself.
"Is she okay?" Hunter asked as I walked up to him.
I shrugged and turned to look the way Jace left, " I hope so, I don't think Jace would handle the loss of his mate well if she is not." Hunter nodded and took my hand.
"Let's go home pack," I said to them all. They all nodded and disappeared into the forest.
..........
We have been here now for five hours waiting for the doctor to come out. Jace has practically burned the rug of the waiting room because of his pacing.
"Jace calm down and sit down," I told him. He stopped and looked at me shaking his head he went back to pacing. I sighed and fell pack onto the nice comfy chair. Hunter came in with a tray of coffee and handed each one of us a cup. sitting next to me he asked, "no news yet on how she is?"
I shook my head and took a sip of the hot beverage, "no every time we see a nurse or a doctor we ask and every time they give us the same answer," I sighed and put my cup down on the small wooden table next to me. "we will inform you when the doctor is done with her," I mimicked.
"I doubt they always say the same thing," Hunter said as he stood up and walked up to the nurse who was now popping another stick of gum into her mouth for the seventh time this hour.
"Excuse me may I know how Lucy Lewis is?" he asked. The nurse rolled her chair back and stood up with a sigh. Excusing herself she walked to the door she opened it and vanished into the vast place that was the pack hospital. A few minutes passed and Hunter grew impassioned while the rest of us hoped that the nurse would bring good news.
Half an hour later she returned a small smile on her lips and a cup of coffee in her hand with her other hand she held a phone she laughed with the person on the other line. Completely ignoring our worried expressions who were now sketched onto our faces. We stood up and ran up to her hoping that smile was because she had good news. We held our breaths as she took her time sitting down and organizing her things on the table. Saying her goodbye to her what I presume friend she turned to her things.
"So?" I asked
"So what?" she asked
"So how is Lucy?" Jace asked.
The nurse seemed like she had remembered something, "ah, yes Mrs. Lewis" she said and we nodded. "We will inform you when the doctor is done checking her," the nurse said as she returned to her things.
My eye began to twitch and a small headache began to form all I really wanted at the moment was to wring the nurse's neck which I'm sure went on her lunch break rather than go and check on Lucy. We all sighed in unison and gave the nurse a death glare only earning a shrug from her and a crooked smile. Everyone returned to their seats and once more tried to occupy themselves with anything they could find. Hunter sat down once more next to me and turned to look at me.
"What?" I said as I kept my eyes focused on the large fish tank they kept in the middle of the large waiting room
"Told you they don't always say the same thing when you ask," he said earning a punch from me. "Oww, what was that for?" he asked as he rubbed his wounded shoulder.
"you're not supposed to be lightening the mood when our friends are hurting," I hissed. Hunter huffed and fell back onto the chair.
"He can honestly be such a child," luna said
"tell me about it," i said with an eye roll
"heard that," Hunter said
"you were supposed to," I shot back
"both of you shut the hell up," my father said
"yes dad," I said
"yes sir," Hunter said
A few hours later The doctor came out and informed us that Lucy's situation was now stable. We all took turns to visit her. Jace of course was the first to go in and bursted through the doors to inform us that they were going to have a baby. If we had know she was pregnant she would have never been allowed to fight. But the only good news right now was that she and the baby was fine. We left the pack hospital at four in the morning so we could rest and so Jace and Lucy could have some time alone.
I fell onto the bed with a loud thud and Hunter fell right next to me he snaked his arm around my waist and pulled me close inhaling my scent he whispered, "if I ever lost you I would go crazy with madness," he said as he kissed the top of my head.
"I would too," I whispered.
"I love you," he said
"I love you more," I said
"I love you most." he said as he pulled me as close as humanly possible and kissed me with all his might.
We held each other until sleep took over us he whispered once more that he loved me before falling asleep. With one last look at his beautiful sculptured face I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
