The palace was filled with sorrow and cries of the people who were mourning for their death Sultan and the crown prince while on the other hand, the war for the throne already started.

Yusuf Effendi, one of Hafsa Sultan's minions leaded the rebellion as they wanted Orhan on the throne not Mehmed but do they seriously think they can succeed when I'm still alive? Never.

The people were outside the palace throwing stones inside making me want to put them all in a zoo because that's definitely where they belong too.

I ordered Gülnihal to look after Osman before quickly grabbing my black scarf to match with the black dress and ran out as I had enough of the people. They tested my patience and have crossed their limits.

I ran past the Harem where all the women were bawling their eyes out on the ground. I'm pretty sure they don't miss the Sultan or is sad about his death. They just didn't want to move to the old palace and stay there for the rest of their life.

I told Nilüfer and Esma to wait for me in the entrance before walking out of the door. Its either now or never.

"STOP. EVERYONE PLEASE CALM DOWN." I shouted on top of my voice but my voice was no match to the angry shouts of the people.

"Sultanam, please go inside. It's not safe for you to stay outside." Dervish Pasha, the commander of the Janissary soldiers said.

"No, Pasha. I can't." I told him before turning towards the soldiers who already had their gun pointed at the rebellions.

"AGHAS, STOP. PUT YOUR GUNS DOWN." I shouted and they turn towards Dervish Pasha who nodded at them and they immediately put their guns down.

"I'm Halime Sultan. Şehzade Mehmed's wife and the mother of his son Şehzade Osman." I said in a loud and clear voice and the people thankfully stopped shouting and calmed down.

"Our Sultan just died and you all already started to rebel. Is this how you pay your last respect to our late Sultan? Answer me?" I shouted but nobody even uttered a word.

"Şehzade Selim was the crown prince but unfortunately he passed away along with his father, our Sultan. Which makes Şehzade Mehmed next in line but what are you all thinking? How can you even think of putting Şehzade Orhan on the throne when his brother Şehzade Mehmed is still alive. HOW DARE YOU!?"

"Is this how much you respected our Sultan by causing a rebellion on his funeral over whom to place in his throne when the law clearly states that Şehzade Mehmed is the next in line!? What kind of insolence is this!?"

"Forgive us Sultanam, but Şehzade Selim was crowned the crown prince by the Sultan himself so if not him, his son should be on the throne." One of the aghas present there said and I raised my eyebrows at him.

"Do you hear yourself? Or are you insulting our late prince?" I asked in a stern tone and he quickly bowed before stepping back.

"Forgive me Sultanam."

"Our late prince have no heir. He was blessed with 2 daughters." I reminded that stupid man whose eyes widened in realisation. Stupid.

"We don't want any more death. We are already depressed by the sudden death of our Sultan. Go back to your house, to your wife and children, parents and siblings and pray for our Sultan and our prince. Don't make a mistake and die in vain." I reminded them and they murmured among themselves and started walking back when suddenly Yusuf Effendi stopped them.

"Don't listen to her. Don't you know that she is a witch!?" He yelled and people gasped. Dervish Pasha took out his sword but I stopped him.

"She is trying to put Şehzade Mehmed on the throne. Don't be fooled. Şehzade Orhan is the right one for the throne not Şehzade Mehmed." He yelled and I glared at him. How dare he.

Just as I was about to give him a piece of my mind, he picked up a stone and threw it at me and it hit right on my forehead making me lose my balance and nearly fall down crying if Dervish Pasha didn't catch me.

"Sultanam, are you ok? Sultanam?" He asked in panic and I nodded as I hold my forehead before pulling away from him.

What surprised me was people started to beat him. I seriously didn't expect that.

"Dervish Pasha, take Yusuf Effendi away from here before they kill him. He is for Şehzade Mehmed." I said and he nodded.

"As you order Sultanam." He signalled some soldiers who immediately went to them.

Mehmed burst open the entrance door as his eyes searched for mine and as soon as his eyes landed, he rushed towards me and embraced me into a hug and the soldiers and the others lowered their gaze.

He cupped my face and examined my face before his face darkened. "Who did this?" He asked in a dangerously low voice, trying to control his anger.

"Mehmed it's nothing-"

"Dervish Pasha, explain this. Right now!" He yelled as he glared at him hard. Nobody even uttered a single word as they watch their Şehzade's anger in silence, scared to even utter a word.

"Şehzadem, Yusuf Effendi did it." He replied with his head bowed.

"And you let it happen? There are more than 100 soldiers here and you all couldn't even protect my wife!? How could you let it happen?" He roared at them and they all flinched. He return his gaze back at me and his eyes softened.

He wiped the blood away with his handkerchief and I hissed in pain. "Come, I'll take you to the physician and we'll get you treated." He said and I nodded.

"Get him in the dungeons. I'll deal with him personally." He gritted out and Dervish Pasha nodded.

"As you order, Şehzadem."

Mehmed lead me inside with his arms wrapped around my shoulders. "Don't you have your crowning ceremony to attend? What are you doing here?" I asked more like scolded him and he frowned at me.

"My wife matters to me more than the throne." He stated and my heart melted. "Why did you do such a reckless thing? You could have got badly injured do you know that. Or maybe worse, the people might have killed you. You didn't even think about me and Osman. We can't live without you. Please don't do such things next time. I can't even bear the thought of losing you, Halime."

He cupped my face in his palm before leaning in and capturing my lips. I pulled away as soon as I realised the maids were just behind our back following us awkwardly.

He groaned but shut up when I glared at him.

Someone cleared their throat and we turn to see Hümaşah Sultan standing infront of us. She smiled at me brightly before embracing me into a bone crushing hug.

"You saved the dynasty once again. We can't thank you enought Halime. The whole dynasty is in debt of you." She cracked at the end.

"No, Sultanam. Please don't say that. You said I was a member of the dynasty and being a member of the dynasty I did what I was suppose to do." I said and she smiled at me but her smile turned into a frown. She quickly took out her handkerchief from her sleeves before wiping the blood off my forehead.

"Mehmed, take her to the physician quickly. Go." She ushered as she slightly pushed me into Mehmed's arms.

Mehmed took me to the physician who cleaned the wound before adding some ointment on the cut. The cut was small and thankfully the physician said it will be gone in no time.

We went back to our chamber before changing our clothes for the crowning ceremony and going to the Sultan's chamber which will belong to Mehmed from now on.

Hümaşah Sultan was already waiting for him there with cheerful Ayşe and a gloomy Fatma.

"Hünkarım." They all said in rhythm and bowed and I walked past Ayşe and Fatma before standing beside Hümaşah Sultan. I bowed to her and she smiled at me.

After Hümaşah Sultan dressed up Mehmed into the Sultan's attire, he went out for the ceremony and we walked up to the tower to watch the ceremony from there.
