She walked quickly not pausing to greet the familiar faces along the way. She knew that if she delayed any longer, she will collapse again like the other hundred times before. She brushed past the Madam Malkins' cloth store, the cauldron shop and the other nostalgia-inducing spots towards the object of her intention- the old torn book which is the portkey to her home.
But as luck would have it, she stumbled across a stone on the way, falling down unconscious.
When she woke up again, she was greeted by a very pleasant smell of flowers nearby. She very slowly opened her eyes to gaze into the hypnotic look of - Malfoy.
She sure was dreaming. How else would he be at her home? She closed and opened her eyes again but was met with the same intense look from his face.
She looked around her, it was not her home. The Hogwarts crest on the door told her she was at..her old school? How is this possible..she was about to speak when his hand gestured for her to stop.
"Before you embarrass yourself by asking the cliche 'where am I' question, this is Hogwarts and you are under Madam Pomfrey's care. Technically, I would say under my care because I have been treating you for the past few days"
"Few days!!! That is impossible"
He gave a quiet chuckle. "It is not. You fell down unconscious in diagon alley. You sustained no injuries but you didn't sleep well, you were thrashing and turning until I gave you sedatives and sleeping potions"
"How can you.."
"Really? You are supposed to be the brightest witch of our age" He sighed. "I am a healer now"
"Oh.." She took it all in. She couldn't believe what he was saying though. She had expected Draco to be doing anything else other than becoming a healer. An auror even, but not a healer. Something didn't fit in.

"I can't believe I wanted to be a healer myself"
At her shocked expression he added, "Don't look so shocked. Your face mirrors your thoughts very well. Prof.McGonagall made me realize I have to be doing something to move on in life, so here I am."
His face had gone to a trance like he was remembering something very long ago which made him really sad but he recovered quickly.
"How are you feeling? Any pains/discomfort?"
"Nothing now. Feel sore and hungry and sleepy though" She gave him a small smile.
He chuckled again. "Food is on the table near you. There is potions for relief and sleep right next to it. Go ahead"
"Thank you"
"Oh it's my job. Don't mention it"
"No Malfoy, it may be your job. But thank you for treating me, you know. After all, we weren't the best of friends back in school"
She had called him Malfoy. The first time either of them has used the other's name since they met that day. He smiled.
"Well, it's part of the past, Granger. Some things are better left forgotten".
"You called me Granger"
"So? You called me Malfoy" He was confused.
"It feels different without the usual spite in your voice when saying my name"
Oh. "Er...yeah..I..I mean..likewise here" He smiled nervously.
"The great Draco Malfoy stuttering! Somebody pinch me" She laughed lightly.
"Shut up Granger, or I may try to mess your potion up so you wouldn't be able to talk"
"I dare you to"
"Oh you want to challenge me"?
"I may"
"I am sorry I can't accept though, I vowed to take care of all my patients the day I became a healer. Once you are all right, may be I will rethink your proposition" He smirked.
"Excuses..excuses"
He laughed. "Enough talking, Granger. Take your potions and food and sleep now. And for heaven's sake take the anti-snoring potion I made today. There are other patients here"
She laughed and added "Sir, yes Sir" with a mock salute.
He laughed and left the room.
