《One Moment, One Breath》Chapter Five

"So you're a hybrid?" The tall vampire with short blonde hair who had introduced himself as Dr. Carlisle Clueen asked, looking a little worried but also fascinated.
Everyone had all gathered at the Cullen's large main house to discuss who, or rather what She was. It was a little uncomfortable if she was benign and completely honest.
They all sat or stood around the large pristine family room forming a sort of circle around her and it set her a little on edge. She didn't really know them at all and it made her a little...testy to be in such a predicament.
She nodded, "Yes I'm a hybrid. My mother carried the wolf gene and my sperm donor, whoever he was, was a vampire."
"That shouldn't even be possible." He mumbled absentmindedly with a far off look in his eyes.
"Trust me, I know." She huffed. She had been told so multiple times while she was growing up. That she was a mutant, unwanted, a freak accident that should have never happened.
"How did he get past the smell?" Emmet asked, scrunching up his nose before glancing at her and smiling sheepishly, "Not that you smell bad."
"Really?" She asked, curious. She had always been told she smelled like chemicals growing up. That her smell was harsh and unnatural.
"You smell like The forest after it rains and something else that's fresh, almost floral." Jasper spoke up from his position across the room. He was leaning with his back against a bookshelf, arms crossed and one leg resting on the other. He was wearing a black button up shirt and khaki pants that fit him perfectly. He looked calm, in control and positively Delicious but she wasn't about to say that out loud.
Aleesia chuckled when she heard Edward huff and she said, "Suck it up Ed boy."
"Can you at least TRY to control your thoughts?" He begged, looking like he was having an onset of a migraine.
"I can't not read minds anymore than Jasper can not feel other people's emotions." He muttered almost to himself and she whipped her head around.
"Say what now?" she asked, her eyes wide.

"That's my gift." Jasper admits, "I'm an empath. I can feel the emotions of others and control them."
Without warning, a sudden wave of calm surrounded her and she gasped, "Woah. Freaky." Jasper nodded his head and the feeling was gone a second later. Aleesia shivered a little from the feeling. She tilted her head a little, wondering what other...feelings he could inflict if he wished and decided to file that information away for later when she heard Edward sigh, annoyed.
"Get used to it Edwina, This is new for me." She reminded him with a small glare before asking, "Anyone else got any freaky abilities I should know about?"
"I can block some people's gifts with a shield." Bella says with a shrug.
"I can make people see thoughts or memorie if I touch them." Renesmee added, "It's kind of like a mix of my mom and dad's powers." She says pointing at Edward and Bella.
That's right, Renesmee was kind of like her except she was half human. Aleesia could smell it on her. Similar but at the same time, not really.
"I can see the future. It's not always set in stone though, it changes based on the choices people make." Alice says, bounding over to Aleesia. She sat down and pressed close to her side and Aleesia instantly felt herself relax.
"Do you have any powers?" Rosalie asked from her spot on the other side of the couch where she was comfortably tucked under Emmet's arm.
Aleesia shook her head, "No, at least not that I've noticed. Haven't really had a lot of time to experiment or whatever. I was kind of a shut in with the pack. I wasn't really able to start exploring my vampire side until they booted me out."
"That's horrible." Esme said, her voice sounding sad.
"Yeah, it wasn't pleasant." she admitted, absentmindedly rubbing the long scar that ran along her forearm under her shirt.
The pack had gotten curious and decided to test her a little, to see if she was more vampire or wolf. One of the elders had shifted and scraped their claw along her arm, causing her to lose an awful lot of blood before the wound naturally healed a few hours later. She didn't know what they expected. She was still half wolf with a beating heart and even a full blooded vampire's skin isn't immune to their claws. The stupid old bastards probably just wanted to see her bleed.

"Glad you're not there anymore." She heard Edward mumble.
Yeah, me too.
"So what's your diet like?" Carlisle asked, making everyone in the room tense up aside from the mind reader who already knew because my stupid brain was like an open fucking book.
"I hunt animals. I've never actually tasted human blood." She shrugged, "Not that it doesn't appeal to me, I just couldn't even bring myself to do...that. Also I can obviously eat regular food. I don't actually have to hunt very often. Maybe once a week as long as my emotions don't get the best of me."
"It'll be nice to have another wolf around." Jacob pipes up, sending her a wide smile which she gladly returned.
"I don't actually shift but the instincts are there. I can actually control my senses, which now that I think about that maybe that's my ability? I don't know." She says, her brain derailing and taking another track, "I've never thought of it that way. It's like I can turn my enhanced sight, hearing and smell on and off. It can be convenient. Especially if I'm thirsty."
Aleesia was lost in thought when she heard someone moving and then felt the cushion on her other side sink. She smelled Cinnamon and knew automatically that it was Jasper. She glanced over at him as he relaxed and swung his arm over the back of the couch, resting it along her shoulders. The move was casual and he looked so natural but Aleesia still felt a little odd. The butterflies in her stomach went crazy having them both pressed so close. Her hands twitched in her lap, wanting to reach out and touch them as well but she held off, feeling that it wasn't appropriate.
Would they be upset when she told them? They seemed happy with each other, completely content without her in their lives. Would they get angry with her if they knew? She shook herself internally and sighed. For now it was best to keep the imprinting a secret.
"Alright, maybe that's enough for now." Jasper suggested, sensing Aleesia's mood drop but not knowing what caused it.
"Sounds good. Esme and I are going to hunt. Don't destroy my house!" Carlisle called over his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around his wife and sped from the room.
"Wanna arm wrestle?" Emmet asks, a happy glint in his eye.
"No, Emmet." Rose yells, smacking his arm with a glare and the atmosphere of the room instantly relaxes.
"You still have to fix the wall upstairs where you and Jasper were wrestling." Edward reminds him and Aleesia's eyebrows shoot up and she trys to imagine Jasper's lean predator-like form going up against the bear that is Emmet Cullen. She almost immediately decides the Jasper would win.
"You're not wrong!" Edward laughs and She smiles, wondering if she will get to see the next fight. She bet Jasper would look downright sexy kicking ass.
"Who would win in a fight between Alice and Edward?" She asks curiously, wondering if they have ever tested it.
"Depends on the day." Bella answers, "and the motivation."
Next time you fight Alice I want to watch! If you beat her I'll try to keep my mind out of the gutter when you're around but if you lose it's going to get SO MUCH worse! I gleefully yell at him in my head.
"Deal." He answered out loud without hesitation.
"What deal?" Alice asks, turning to me with a questioning look.
"Nothing!" Aleesia jumps, then askes, "So what do you guys do for fun around here?"
"Wanna play Mario Kart?" Emmet asks excitedly, making everyone else in the room groan and she smiles.
"Hell yeah!" Which earns her a look from Jasper that has her ducking her head and she takes the controller from Emmet.
The rest of the night is spent with her tucked between Alice and Jasper on the Cullen's couch, trying to control herself as she repeatedly beat Emmet at every game he brought out.
