《Gun To My Head, Stake To My Heart》31

Domenico, my uncle's right hand man, called to speak with us. He reported rogue attacks outside of Napoli. My uncle hissed his teeth and said some very colorful words in Italian. My uncle ordered Domenico to send a group of wolves to snuff out the rebels.

That's when Domenico shocked us. The rogues were conspiring with vampires to wreak havoc amongst the town. Matt briefly explained that rogues who were conspiring with the vampires were shunned from werewolf society as they were deemed vampire sympathizers. I glanced to see if Lara was offended, but she shrugged and agreed that anyone who supported the vampires in the war were psychotic.

Jade, Domenico, and my uncle were devising a plan on how to disrupt their current occupation of Napoli. They knew this was strategic since Napoli and Amalfi were a little over an hour away. The rogues chose the city for its close proximity to the kingdom.

My uncle was furious, since they had been so preoccupied in acquiring some areas in Switzerland, they failed to notice vampires occupying Napoli. The three of them were stumped on how to formulate a secret attack, especially when they didn't know how many were occupying the city. My uncle, Domenico, or any of their inner circle couldn't go since their scents were widely recognizable.

I then offered to go on behalf to uncover as much information as possible. They immediately rejected my offer, but I pointed out my entire career consisted of me fraternizing with the enemy to acquire information. Lara smirked and nodded along to prove my point. Zayn and Matt vouched for me while Jade was trying to dissuade my uncle.

They were hesitant since they just got me back and didn't want to lose me. My uncle also stated that my dad's dying wish was for his brother to protect me for eternity. And my uncle had no interest in failing his older brother. Domenico was actually the one to tell my uncle that he couldn't put his emotions before rationale. I was clearly the best of the best and this mission would be child's play.

I eagerly nodded, causing my uncle and friends to sigh. Even though Matt and Zayn vouched for me, they still didn't want me in harm's way. Zayn then made a good point. He said the rogue's wouldn't trust me since they didn't know me. It wasn't like I could just walk up to them and imbed into their society immediately. Matt also stated that we didn't have much time for a routine operation where I earn their trust and divulge their information.

"Well, good thing she won't be going alone." Lara stood up, causing all eyes to move to her. "My father is a private man and wouldn't risk the public knowing about our familial spat. They will not know I'm banished, so they will not be suspicious about my arrival. If anything, they'll see it as the king being so pleased with their results that he sent one of his children to oversee everything."

"She makes a good point." Domenico stated. "They'll welcome her with open arms and no suspicions. She'll make it easier for the princess to uncover information."

My uncle ran a hand through his dark hair and groaned. He didn't like the idea, but we were running out of time. With a final sigh, he relented. I couldn't help but smile. He gave me a stern talking about how I needed to contact them right away if anything went wrong. He then tried to intimidate Lara, who was utterly bored and annoyed at him.

We were driven to a hotel where my friends dropped us off. Jade told us to take a shower in order to rid the smell of my uncle and family. With a final hug and warning to Lara, they left. We checked into the hotel and- well I tried to just take a bath, but Lara wasn't up for that.

She originally stated it was to save water, but I'm pretty sure we wasted a lot of water considering how long we were in the shower. I definitely had her scent all over me. We had changed into clothes that were provided to us.

As usual, Lara had on a short dress while I had shorts and a shirt. The girl even had a Tory Burch purse. First off, who made the arrangements? And who authorized her to actually walk around dripping in money? Must she really have a Rolex on too?

She took my hand and led me to the train station. We went on a bullet train and arrived in the middle of the city. Lara pushed for me to try the pizza since this was the birthplace of the food. I didn't fight back since I was hungry and the pizza was to die for. We walked around as I ate my lunch.

"Where do we go?" I glanced at her.

"Hmm..." She looked around subtly. "We will not be doing the searching." She led me to a fountain to sit. "They'll detect my presence and come to meet me... like them." She nudged her head for me to see a young man and woman approaching us.

I could tell that the girl was a wolf while the guy was a vampire. It still shocked me that they were working together to overthrow my uncle. They should be joining forces to overthrow that horrendous man who sits on the throne in France.

"Sua Maestà." The girls bowed.

"Votre Majesté." The man bowed.

"We're here to meet with the leaders. Take us to them." Lara spoke with an authoritative tone.

I stood up as well. The two nodded before turning around and guiding us through the busy streets. I took in the buildings as we passed them to see that we were entering into the rundown area of the city. Trash and homeless people lined the dirty streets. I had to hold in a gag at the stench in the air.

They led us into an abandoned subway tunnel. It was dark except for the flares that lined the ground. I had to fight for control of my eyes, so they wouldn't adjust to my wolf's. The last thing I needed was them figuring out I was a royal wolf.

We walked until we entered an abandoned station. I gasped at the amount of rebels occupying it. There had to be a few thousand. This wasn't good. Lara sensed my unease and gave my hand a gentle squeeze before releasing it.

All eyes were on us, well, they were on Lara. They bowed when Lara passed. Our guides took us into an abandoned store that was converted into a police station. They knocked on the door before bowing and leaving us. I held my poise when the door was slowly opened.
