《Holden Steele's Ruin [Completed]》Chapter 23

Things with Holden had been great, given that it had only been two day since we decided to venture into whatever feelings we have. He had shown up at our door yesterday after his practice, offering to drive me to class, I didn't expect this. Frankly, I was still waiting for him to run.
He was however still a brooding mystery to me, but his actions filled in for his quiet demeanour. He'd made a point to put an arm around me or hold my hand at every chance he got, it had almost become a subconscious habit. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like it, I liked it enough to disregard the curious stares we would evoke around campus.
It was currently Friday and I had just finished my last class, just like last Friday everyone was buzzing with excitement at the offing of yet another game. Only this time it was slightly less annoying; am I being biased? completely.
Nervous excitement settled in the pit of my stomach during the whole day.
Unlike the previous game, I was attending the current one without Avery's persuasion, much to her delight. I would like to say I was going for my new found liking to the game, but in all honesty I was only going to see Holden play, it really wasn't my fault he looked godly in his uniform.
Arriving at my empty dorm room, I sighed loudly after finally making my way past the crowded hallway, removing my shoes before plopping roughly on my bed. I had more than enough time before the game, so I decided to get some work done to lessen my load before the weekend.
I had just finished on my first assignment when the shrill ringing of my phone startled me. Unfortunately, the weird phone call was still hunting me. I was jumpy at sudden noises, my head immediately jumping to the worst possible outcome at the simple sound of a ringing phone.
Slowly pulling out my phone, I sighing in relief at Holden's name flashing brightly on my screen. exhaling loudly, my lungs deflating as I answered the call, pressing the phone to my ear.
"Hey, where are you right now?"came his deep grumble, my stomach tightened at the prospect of his voice alone.
"In my room" I responded, not knowing what exactly he had in mind seeing as he had a game tonight.
"I'm coming by" I could distinctively hear the low rumble of his engine before he cut the call, leaving me to frown at the screen of my phone.
A few minutes later a loud knock against the door had my heart racing, the hairs at the back of my head standing erect. I took deep breaths, making my way towards the door.

Holden stood outside in the hallway looking sinful as always, dressed in his trademark black jeans and grey shirt. I opened the door further letting him in as his large figure immediately dwarfed the room.
"What are you doing here?" I asked genuinely curious as to why he had suddenly shown up when I knew he was supposed to be at a team meeting.
"Am I not allowed to visit you when I feel like it?" He shot back as he slowly closed the distance between us wrapping an arm around my waist "I want you to wear this today" he said, handed me a red and gold Jersey with his last name and a large number thirteen on the back.
"Why"came my confused replay as I took in the soft materiel of the jersey.
"I like having my number on you" Holden said as he lowered his head so that his soft lips would descend on mine.
The kiss wasn't like the others, it had an undercoat of possessiveness. His lips caressing mine with feline need, before long it became more heated as my legs wrapped around his waist. I could feel his physical need rubbing against my thigh, warning sirens were going off inside my head but I was too far deep in my passionate haze.
A sudden vibration got my attention causing me to quickly pull away as Holden groaned roughly pulling his phone out before sighing and stuffing it back in his pocket, all the while still holding me in place.
"I'm sorry I have to go, coach's calling" he explained as he lowered me onto the ground giving me on last peck before heading out. I couldn't focus on my work anymore after he left, resulting into scrolling blindly through my phone while waiting for Avery.
"Is that Holden's jersey?!" Avery gasped, making a bee line towards the red and gold material clashing greatly with my sky blue comforter. Avery had gotten back to the room around an hour ago and we were currently in the process of getting dressed for the game before her interruption.
"He um...wants me to wear it to the game" I said hesitantly, I had no idea why I felt so nerves about wearing it, perhaps it was because I knew how vital his love for football was. Holden asking me to wear his jersey seemed almost like he was letting me into his happy place.
"Wow...I don't think his ever actually given it to anyone, even in highschool when he was a little laid back he never once gave anyone his jersey. You guys must be pretty serious" she said wiggling her eyebrows suggestively, this made me blush crimson, all my blood running to my face. Surely he must have given his Jersey to someone else even once.

"Are your parents meeting us there?" I asked desperate to change the topic. She had earlier on told me that her parent would be coming to the game, she didn't seem excited though which baffled me.
"Yeah, they said they'd meet us at the stadium" Avery said as she continued applying her make up. She had dressed in dark blue jeans and the same jersey she had on last time while I had gone for dark jeans and Holden's oversized jersey.
Cinnamon and mint wrapped around me, making my nerves decrease slightly. The shirt smelt exactly like him, it was oddly comforting.
We took a cab to the stadium, arriving to the loud hooting and cheering of an excited crowd. The climb up the bleachers was like moving through murky water as Avery dragged me by my hand to where her parents sat.
"Hey mum, dad. This is my roommate savannah" Avery introduced me after she had given them both a hug.
"Hello Mr and Mrs Robinson" I politely stretched my had to them offering a hand shake. They looked very much like the polished couple Avery had described, the man wearing dark grey slacks and a white button down shirt. Avery's mother had opted for a beautifully designed black jumpsuit, which she probably designed herself.
"Oh please call my Lisa, this is my husband James" her husband gave me a firm nod before returning his eyes to the field while his wife grabbed my hand, shaking it overzealously "Your quite beautiful. Have you met our son Archer?" She said, an unnerving glint shining in her pretty blue eyes.
"Mum she's dating Holden, I already told you this" Avery attempted to whisper, passing me an apologetic look. Her mother's smile morphed into a tight lipped frown, disdain clear on her features.
"You also said they started dating recently, she can still keep her options open, right James?" She asked, dainty fingers wrapping around her husband's arm who simply nodded inattentively.
Even though Holden and I practically weren't dating, her suggestion created a churning in my stomach. My thoughts of them were already wayward, what type of parent would try to hook up their son with his best friend's girlfriend? That was completely vile and heartless.
I was relieved when a cheery voice came through the speakers, announcing that the game was about to begin. Both teams soon entered the field, the cheerleaders ushering them in.
I watched as they immerged from the dark hallway in anticipation, craning to find a familiar mop of black. My heart immediately lunched at the sight of Holden immerging out of the tunnel his helmet in one hand as he leisurely walked across the grass
Grey eyes swept over the bleachers before quickly finding my own green ones, a brilliant grin spreading across his lips. I smiled back at him, rather shyly still not used to having his attention centered on me. The interaction was however, short lived as he had to turn back and listen to what his coach was saying.
The game begun not long after while I watched at the edge of my seat as Holden sprinted down the the field effortlessly. My heart would still constrict whenever he would get hit as physically flinch in my seat.
"I told Coach not to pick that boy as quarterback, look at how sloppy he is" Mr Robinson quipped from his seat, a displeased expression merged into his wrinkled face. He had been doing this since the game started, it began with him throw off handed comment about the game but his cruel remarks had soon centered solemnly on Holden. His wife would nod in agreement a displeased frown on her face while occasionally praising her son, making sure I heard every word of it.
I was seconds from shoving the hotdog in his hand down his old throat when he scoffed at the touchdown Holden had scored. I didn't understand why they seemed so cold toward Holden when Avery told me they had known him for so long.
The game ended and our school won, but my excitement came to an abrupt halt when James threw another off handed comment at the lack of Holden's help to achieve the win.
Wasn't he here to watch his son play?! Screamed the angry voice inside my head.
I was lagging behind the Robinson's as we made our way towards the parking lot where Archer and Holden would meet us. Avery didn't look pleased either as her parents chatted away about the game, picking at every flaw they found.
Sighing in relief, my shoulders slumped slightly when I sighted a familiar black baseball hat. I noticed how tense and detached Holden's eyes seemed, he walked rigidly as a stony look passed through his face so unlike the easygoing grin he had during the game. He walked towards me wrapping a possessive arm around me before placing a scorching kiss on my lips, earning a displeased frown from Mrs Robinson.
"Would you like to join us for dinner Savannah?" I noticed how she only looked at me, leaving out Holden like she hadn't seen him. His hand around me immediately tightened, his stance widening as he glared heatedly at the concrete ground.
"No that's fine, Holden and I had some plans already" I politely declined not wanting to spend any more time than I had to with them.

Hero
Kuren is just your average boy. He's just been asleep for one thousand years. Heroes and grand epics. Kuren doesn't have the time to think about things like that, nor does he really care. Join Kuren as he wanders the fantasy land of Alurca in search of his lost memories and the reasons behind his lengthy slumber. This is sort of a reboot of Anomaly, the first novel I tried to write. I gave up Anomaly after going to college. I thought about going back to it, but... when I look at it now, it's not very good. It was very edgy and not much substance behind that edge. The story wasn't quite going anywhere since I hadn't given the main character a goal. I had planned out a story, but I forgot to to plan out the details between the beginning and end. So this one's for real. Hopefully you won't be disappointed.
