《My famous boss (gxg)》Chapter 41

"Finally! My arse was getting tired from sitting around." Alex sighs as the place lands.
"You hate flying?" I ask
"Duh. I have too much time to do nothing. I can't ever fall asleep during a flight." He says unbuckling his seatbelt.
"Well if it makes you feel any better I sleep through most of my flights." I taunt.
"You know what? It does not make me feel any better" He replies and I laugh.
"How are we going to get to your place by the way?" He asks
"Chris will pick us up." I say
"I can't wait to see where you live here." He says excited.
"Don't get too excited. It is nothing like back home." I say
"Of course it's not like back home. You live in a fucking castle mate." He says
"Eh, fair enough." I say
"How big is your apartment?" He asks as we leave the jet.
"You and I both know I don't know shit about space and measuring." I say
"Oh right, you're not math smart. I keep forgetting that."
We walk down to the parking lot and I see Chris leaning on his car. He has his phone in hand and sunglasses on. I've missed him so much.
"Evans" I yell
He jumps and looks around until he sees me. I drop all of my bags and run to hug him.
"Hey there Lena." He says into my ear as we hug. He holds me there for a minute before we let go.
"Hi Chris" Alex says getting my bags off the asphalt
"Hey Alex, how was your flight?" He asks
"Bloody boring."
"YOU were bloody boring that's what it is. Chris when I tell you this man acted like he had worms in his arse the whole way here. He couldn't sit still for a god damn hour." I say
"Oh please like you cared! You read a whole fucking book on the way here." Alex says
"I could have slept." I say
"Children! Let's go." Chris interrupts
"I call shot gun." Alex yells
"Oh fuck off." I say and put my bags into the trunk.
We drive off to my place and I am so tired. I guess it is from the flight. Thankfully we calculated everything perfectly. We arrived here at 1pm so now we have the entire day at our fingerprints. We got some starbucks on the way and Chris played some music while we chatted. I enjoyed the carefree energy that roamed in the car.
"I unfortunately can't come in with you two. I have some business I need to attend to. We'll hang out soon though." Chris says while helping me with my bags.
"It's fine. Thank you for the ride." I say and hug him.
"You're welcome. You know I love you right." Chris says
"Until next time" Chris says and says hugs Alex
"Until next time." Alex says and smiles at him.
We get into my apartment after we wait for Chris to leave. I unlock the door and swing it open. It's freshly cleaned. Huh that's weird. I go over to the shelf to put down my keys when I find a sticky note attached to the wall.

Hope you don't mind I had it cleaned for you.
ps. I didn't break in, you already gave me a spare key :)
-Chris.E
I have the sweetest friends ever. I smile at the sticky note and go to put it in my planer. I keep a lot of things in there. I know we are at an age where everything is digatilized but I like writing things down. It makes me more organized.
"Your apartment is beautiful." Alex says and he goes though it.
"Oh my heavens you have a mural of London in you living room. That is so cool!" He says
"Let me show you to your room." I say and lead him to a door that is down the hall.
"Ooh I even have my own bathroom and everything." He says smiling.
"There is also a view." I say pointing to the window.
"You gave me a room with a view?" He asks
"No I gave you a room with a desk and a view." I say smiling at him.
"Thank you. I already know I'll have a shit ton of fun with you." he says
"Make yourself at home. I have no energy to do anything so I'll head to sleep. The car keys are on the hook and there is a spare in the foyer. If you want you can also cook. I know you'll love the kitchen." I say
"Okay, well have a good rest. I'll be exploring the house and unpacking." He says
"Bye" I say and shoot him a kiss.
I go to my bedroom and sit on my bed. I find the familiar jewelry box on my night stand. It's the necklace she gave me. I left it here because I thought that way I won't have a reminder of her. I was absent for two months only but I can't say that leaving the necklace helped me any way.
I change into some shorts and a tank top and lay in bed. I can't wait to see her again.
I wake up to a smell of chicken. I get up and run to the kitchen where I was right. Alex is standing there in some sweats and a t shirt making dinner.
"Is that chicken I smell?" I ask sitting on the bar stool.
"Yes. I know you like my roasted chicken the best." he says smiling at me.
"Yes I very much do." I say
"Since it is only 5 pm how about we eat and then take a stroll around town?" Alex offers
"Sure. I thought you already did that." I say
"Well yeah I did, but it is no fun when you're alone and have no clue where you're going." he says
"Alright then. We'll head out when we finish with food." I confirm.
The two of us enjoyed his chicken and laughed so hard I thought that we're going to choke a few times. We put away the dirty dishes into the sink and we parted ways to get changed. It was already 7 pm so it was perfect for a walk around the block. I put on some jeans and a crop top. Since it may get cold I topped it all off with a zip up hoodie. I don't want to try too hard because I doubt we'll see anyone while we're out.

"Are you ready?" Alex says through the door of my bedroom.
"I am." I say and open the door.
We decided we will stop by an ice cream shop. Well, I decided. He doesn't know where everything is so he just follows me. It feels weird being joined by someone who was never even in the US. It was nice. The sun had just set but it was still visible outside. There weren't many people on the streets so it was fairly calm. Calmer than what I remember it for. We go into the ice cream shop and get our ice cream. We wanted to walk around while eating it so why not just go to a park or something. Walked through the park when in the distance I saw someone familiar. I couldn't see their face fully because they were wearing a mask, but I could tell it was a man. When he came closer he spoke to me.
"Lena, hey how are you!" Colin...
"Hey, I'm good and you?" I ask and he hugs me. I feel immense guilt wash over me. The last time I saw him was when he convinced me into talking with his fiance. Little does he know that we talked the least if you know what I mean.
"I'm fantastic honestly. Who's this?" He gestures towards Alex.
"Hi, I'm Alex." He says and offers a hand for Colin to shake.
"I'm Colin. Nice to meet you." Colin says as he shakes his hand.
"How is everything?" I ask
"It's great. I'm waiting for our wedding and counting down the days if we're being honest." He says
"That is great. I'm happy for you." I force out.
"Thank you. How's the company doing? I know something happened with one of your factories." Colin says sitting on the bench next to us.
"It is figured out thankfully. Yeah, the company is doing good. I just finally got a hold of a lot of things." I say sincerely.
"Congrats on meeting the queen. I almost forgot to mention how amazing it is you got all those prizes." He says smiling at me.
"Yeah, well I didn't expect to get them honestly.."
"See you always do this. She deserves them out of all of those stuck up pricks that we've seen that night." Alex interrupts.
"She wouldn't have been so great if she was aware of how amazing she actually is." Colin says
"Thank you, both of you. What are you doing out all by yourself?" I ask Colin.
I'm a little curious on what is going on with Scarlett. But, I am too scared to ask so freely.
"I went onto a run. Scarlett and Rose are having a mommy-daughter movie night and I didn't want to invite myself."
"Thats sweet. How are the two of them?" I ask
"The're good. I have some concerns about Rose though. She seems to not like me very much."
"Try doing something she likes with her. She's a kid it is not that hard to get them to like you." I say smiling at him.
"Oh believe me when I say I tried. I tried almost everything this past month." He says
Maybe you're the problem douchebag.
"Just give her time man. I'm sure it will turn out alright." Alex says
Thankfully he spoke instead of me. I don't think I would be able to lie about that.
"Well it was good seeing you. We should go out sometime. You know as a double date." Colin offers.
"Great. I'm looking forward to it." Alex answers and I throw daggers his way.
"It was great seeing you. I'll tell Scarlett hi from you." He says and walks away.
"Now why in the hell did you say that?" I ask Alex.
"Look, this is your chance to see what they are truly like together. I will keep an eye out and so will you. So what if he thinks we're together. That just makes it all better."
"How does that make any of this better?"
"This was you'll see if she truly likes you. She'll get jealous and I'll know if she looks at us strange." He says
"You do know I am going to kill you in your sleep right?" I say
"What you meant to say was Thank you. And to that I'll add you're welcome" He says and smiles at me.
We walked around New York and it was honestly so nice. I wonder why Rose dislikes Colin. That kid was a breath of fresh air. She is so cute and just nice. I remember when we spent days together. She is so well-mannered and simply adorable.
We walked back to my place and Alex wanted to go to bed because he was very tired from everything. I let him go to bed while I watched my favourite tv show. I wasn't as tired as he was, but I was getting there. I finished two episodes and decided I'll head to my room. I lay down onto the bed, right after I took of my jeans and put on some proper sleep wear.
What is Scarlett up to now? I wonder. Maybe she is home alone and Colin lied. I doubt that he'll say something like that. Alex told me on the way back that he has a bad feeling about Colin. He said that his whole vibe is somehow corrupted. I don't know what that means nor do I want to honestly. I know my experience with Colin and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. I just hope I'm not wrong about him. I would never forgive myself if something happened to Scarlett because of him.

Faeos Book One: The Stuff of Legends
A ragtag assemblage of adventurers, scraped together by seeming circumstance, investigate the theft of an ecologically essential artifact. In so doing, they find themselves embroiled (as adventurers so often do) in the larger machinations of a mischevious gnome, a determined mage or three, and a dire threat to their homes. Based on a homebrew Pathfinder campaign begun several years ago, and still running. Faeos is one part combat, one part character building, and one part entirely justified silliness. Blame any lead character weirdnesses on my players, whom I love. Blame everything else on me. Oh, and yes, this should also be tagged "Unreliable Narrator."
