You were happy and I wanted it to stay like that.

But i knew that nothing could be the same

the guilt tore me apart,

I knew playing with your heart was wrong, but I wasn't ready to break it.

I should've told you how I felt from the start.

But instead I continued to brighten your smile,

with words that lost their meaning.

Your laughter and smiles no longer brought me joy;

I knew the second I stopped lying your smile would dim and fade away,

I never wanted to hurt you.

But I did anyways

I'm sorry I pulled the rug of false feelings out from under you

and made you face-plant in the dirt.

I also hope you know that, You aren't the only one this hurt

I wanted to love you, but It just didn't last,

maybe I'm just not supposed to be more than part of your past.

I'm sorry for all the tears

and all the lies

but in the end,

love is sacrifice.
