"With 'how the words come', Catarine Hancock has found a way to make the painful purgatory between the hurting and the healing quite beautiful." - Alicia Cook, author of 'Stuff I've Been Feeling Lately' and 'I Hope My Voice Doesn't Skip'
"Catarine's poems are both graceful and striking. A brutally honest and frank collection that moves through pain, heartache, and love all while remaining true to her poetic voice." ~ Alison Malee, author of 'The Day is Ready for You'
"The words are poignant and the imagery is striking. Hancock's writing is eloquent and strong. If you have been loved, if you have been hurt, this collection will give you the strength to heal." ~ Shelby Leigh (@shelbysleigh on Instagram), author of 'It Starts Like This'
"Catarine works magic with words by transforming emotions and messages into a visualized reality. Her statements on social issues, trauma, and mental illness are raw, profound, and heartbreakingly accurate. By drawing from the root of what inspires writing, she is able to strike at the deepest broken pains within us, brew beauty from the ordinary, and empower through poetry." ~ Sasha Temerte (@ironandwords on Instagram)
"Catarine's poems are the poetic mirrors of reality, she knows how to create emotion between sentences, and she manages to have a stunning imagery without letting go of the real world. Behind every word, behind every metaphor, Catarine is always planting the truth under every new creation of her work. If you want to feel, to cry, to smile, to love – the poems by Catarine Hancock are something your heart is craving, I can assure you."~ Sallie Lundh (@poetic.litigation on Instagram), author of 'Dissection of an Eggshell Girl'
"Most poems in this book speak strongly to me on things I care about: the self, (body) abjection, (body) detachment, disorientation. Some poems remind me of a friend back in college, and long forgotten lover, a guy I met at a bar, and a girl I knew from my hometown. That's how great this book is. It's real. It speaks to you like an old friend. Catarine Hancock, in her unique way of storytelling, is all of us." ~ Maia, (@maiaruna__, @lecriturefeminine on Instagram), author of 'Letters to Sylvia

"These pages speak to me in many ways I never thought any book could. I relate to a lot of the poems that lay in between these pages. If you're struggling right now, or have struggled in the past and need something to relate to; this is the right book for you." ~ Rayne Tatyana (@raynes.poems on Instagram), author of 'Silenced Truth'

So I'm a cat, what now?
It seems I've reincarnated into a fantasy world as a cat. What now? This is my first publically published story, and I would love feedback in any form as I have no idea how well the quality of my writing holds up. This story will have light litRPG elements, though I won't dig into numbers much, since I don't enjoy fiddling with them. The tone will be generally light, and I willl probably try to throw some comedy in there as well. The beginning will be Slice of Life, and unless I come up with a longer plot that I like it will stay that way.
8 101The Last Evil
Helena Rukh is the Last Evil, the Black Queen, the Leader of the Dark Pact… and half a dozen other equally silly titles. Or at least Rukh thinks they’re silly, but then, she’s never thought of herself as the villain, despite all the things she did back in the War. A war she lost. The treaty was signed. Her attempt to conquer all Reality aborted. Rukh’s retired now, to a hell-hole world called Sansara, a place where it rains ash and chaos-rents mar the sky, though the liquor is surprisingly good. But an old enemy is on her way to end that retirement, to drag Rukh back into everything she left behind. Trouble is brewing and the self-styled good guys are at a loss. Set a thief to catch a thief and all that....

After bringing themselves back from the brink of annihilation, humanity's future seemed bleak. However, it's remnants, throwing aside the old order and donning a new mantle of progress aimed to rise above their ancient disputes and go forward as one. Once the Earth reached it's natural limit, and colonies around Terra and Luna had shown promising results, humanity finally decided to make the move to the stars. Believing this to be the start of a new age, they eagerly poured across the solar system and further beyond, greeting what space had to offer with hope and optimism. It was misplaced, however, for humanity's traditional quarrels soon resurfaced and engulfed a now interplanetary empire of many races. As the Earth Empire burned and an intense depression overtook the once optimistic people, some held out hope. They theorized that their problems were born of an inherent sense of home and, in order to rid humanity, now comprising of the Terrans as well as all the other known species of the galaxy, of this burden, decided to move far away from civilized space, into uncharted depths, to start anew. Some 200 years have passed since then, and those hopeful ones have finally found a place to settle on. Firmly planting their flag in paradise, they called this untouched land "Eden" and declared the beginning of a true new age, the age of After Eden.Trouble, however, seemed to still be hounding them, as barely three years after its founding, Eden finds itself at war with a seemingly uncommunicative and uncompromising enemy that far outclasses the odd pirates they were used to facing. A new era of peace, marked by an immediate conflict. Time will tell if Eden, the Grand Experiment, truly is as great as it's supposed to be. ---------------------------------------- This is a sci-fi, character driven, military space drama. Multiple POV protagonists and lots of unnecessary detail. Somewhat psychological. My first work on this website.
