《Nebula's Echo (a Naruto Fanfic)》Chapter 8

Okayyy, so, kind of good news here. I finally found a picture that corresponds with my imagination of the oc's appearance! Phew, that was hard.

So, the picture above depicts her demi-human form, and you'll just have to imagine horns there as a bonus + a more vivid purple eye color, and minus the eye-patch please.

The human form looks the same, only the eye color is the same as in the picture (usually, when she isn't using her powers), and the hair is white + no wings. Plus, when in Konoha she made her body take on a 12 y/o appearance, just saying (in the picture she looks 16-18?). Since she's a bijuu, she doesn't age, and the picture is in her "fixed" age, if you get what I mean with my blabbering?

I do NOT own this picture, I found it on google and felt compelled to show you what I imagined my character to look like. Full credits for it to the owner (who is either hard to find or I'm just a complete moron T^T)

=====================

I woke up to the blinding sunlight streaming through my curtains. It was only dawn, yet the light was already overwhelming me. Narrowing my eyes, I let my shadows surge, giving me a relief from the light. Sighing, I got up and went to the kitchen.

What should I make for breakfast?

I smirked slightly thinking about the events of yesterday. My persuasion, a form of my mind control ability, worked splendidly! Not only did I manage to get the Hokage to sign me up for the academy, but I also managed to implant the notion of me living with Kakashi. It helped though that he was already there, making the idea not that far-fetched. Seriously, I'm great.

The next thing I need to worry about is how to get on the same team as Naruto, Sasuke and regrettably, Sakura. No way they're actually going to make one four-man team right? Or, well, not without some persuasion.

Smirk widening, I mixed the dough. It was really fun living with Kakashi actually. The guy is ridiculously fun to tease. Especially when you manage to get your hands on his book. I have to say though, it's not really anything special. I would recommend him, like, I don't know, Fifty Shades of Grey for a more quality read? But that's probably a level or two too high for poor Kakashi who hasn't even seen the world. He's not quite ready for that mix of violence and, well, ugh. Nope, sorry, you might be a jounin ninja and all, and you've fought in wars and all, but you're still not ready for this. But hey, we all develop at our own pace, right?

Nodding to myself, I flipped the first pancake. Soon enough, the target of my musing entered the kitchen, looking as if he just woke up. Those droopy eyes and bed hair... ugh Kakashi are you trying to get me out of my love for the Uchihas? I mean, come on, between Sasuke, Itachi, and even Madara, who wouldn't I totally date? Oh well, a bit early to worry about that though.

I turned to Kakashi, and raised my eyebrow at the ever-present mask. He either didn't get me or decided to totally brush me off.

"...so, you're making breakfast?"

I flashed him a smile, and nodded. Turning back to the pancake's I started humming a random tune.

"But... ehm, Cei, shouldn't you at least dress properly, even though this is technically where you live...?"

I cast him a confused look, and thought I saw a small blush on his face. Curious, I looked down. I was still wearing my kind-of pyjamas. Since I didn't have any clothes with me except for the greek dress, and we totally forgot sleepwear when we went shopping yesterday, Kakashi had borrowed me one of his shirts to sleep in. It was seriously oversized on me, practically hanging off my shoulders and reaching down to my mid-tights. I smirked again, as I looked back up at Kakashi.

Aww, he's embarrassed.

I was right about him not being ready for Fifty Shades of Grey. If something like a female wearing one of his shirts gets him like this, then he's way more of the sweet than reading-porn type. But even though the shirt didn't reveal anything or was in any way inappropriate, I decided to spare the poor guy. I told him to watch the pancakes and went to my room to get changed.

Keeping in mind I'm a twelve year old, no need to be ashamed, I'm just a twelve year old, I went through the clothes we bought for me yesterday. I had ninja clothes, but those were for after I graduated. I just realized, that since I only expected to be in the academy for two days, I hadn't prepared any clothes for it. My only child-like (meaning not black or white, and no I refuse to be called emo to my face) casual clothing was...

Combing through my long, white hair, I put it into a high ponytail and tied it with a soft light-pink ribbon before sliding my dress on. It was a short summer dress. Cute and simple. It was a pastel pink color that didn't stand out much with my complexion, strapless and ending just above my knees. The skirt stood out a bit, and the folds were deliberately formed, making it look adorable. I looked into the mirror, spinning around. The pink was so light it worked great with my white hair and pale skin, and the ribbon in my hair was just so cute. I was adorable. Grabbing a pair of white Mary Jane platform pumps, I raced back out to the kitchen.

Coming there I saw Kakashi happily eating pancakes, seemingly having forgotten all about me. I would normally have gotten all defensive about someone snatching my food, but since being reincarnated, I do not get hungry. And human food doesn't appeal as much either. Walking up to the table, I sat down by the additional plate on the table. Kakashi looked up briefly, but as soon as he saw me, he looked back down in a rush. Shrugging, I took a pancake and ate it slowly, enjoying it's sweetness, though not as much as I had done when I was still human.

We enjoyed a quiet and peaceful breakfast, before I noticed the time and matter-of-factly informed Kakashi that we were going to be late to the academy but he still better hurry up. After getting Kakashi dressed properly, I practically dragged him out of the apartment and towards the academy. Yeeeah, he was supposed to show the way, but I could feel a cluster of specifically young chara signatures at a spot not too far away, and figured that that should be it. After making a few turns and attracting a lot of attention (probably cuz I was dragging a grown man through the streets) we finally reached a familiar building. It's been ages since I've watched Naruto, so I don't remember that much, but that swing was not something I would forget. Oh, have I told you yet? Well, the Record of All Things ditched me. Apparently, it was just supposed to help me settle into this new world, so now that I'm "settled" it just ditched me. Went back to "God" or whatever else a stupid Record of All Things would do in its spare time. Pffft, like I want it here anyway.

Looking back up at the building, I didn't feel nervous at all. I mean, if worst comes to worst, I can just flatten the entire building. Yepp, nothing to be nervous about. I looked back at Kakashi with a raised eyebrow and an inquisitive look. He just deadpanned at me, probably because I just dragged him through the entire village. Signing, he started walking towards the entrance.

"Well, welcome to the academy, Cei."

Throwing open the door, he walked inside. I followed, looking around at the boring interior. Really, they didn't even have any sort of decorations. The place is dead b-o-r-i-n-g. We walked to some room where Kakashi went inside to speak to some lady, and when he came out he gave me a paper and directed me towards my new class before vanishing in a puff of smoke, telling me he had something important to do. I rolled my eyes and started walking the way he directed me to. But, as I got closer, I started hearing voices. Interest peaked, I focused on the sound.

"I'm at the end of my rope, Naruto. You failed the graduation test last time, and the time before that. Tomorrow you've got another chance, and you're messing up again!"

Found them.

I sped up, walking in the direction of the voice. I heard a "Hmmph", and then Iruka's voice came back screaming.

"Fine! Because you missed it Naruto, everyone will review the transformation jutsu!"

Just as groans started filling the air, I reached my classroom and knocked on the door. It was silent for a moment before the door opened. Iruka was standing there, looking at me slightly dazed for a moment before he shook his head and smiled.

"Hi, who are you? Are you lost?"

I shook my head silently and handed him the paper Kakashi had given me. Iruka glanced at it before understanding flooded his features. Gesturing for me to come in, he introduced himself.

"Hi, I'm Iruka Umino, but you can call me Iruka-sensei. So, you were the new student the Hokage told me about. Would you like to introduce yourself to the class?"

His smile was kind, and I immediately understood why Naruto liked the guy so much. He really was the caring kind that didn't hold grudges. I smiled back at him before walking to the side of the teachers desk, glancing at Naruto who was still sitting bound in the middle of the classroom. Then I looked out over the frozen group of children. Ignoring the strange atmosphere, I smiled at them and gave a small bow.

"Hello, it's very nice to meet you! My name is Ceiren Yami, but feel free to call me Cei. We're classmates after all."

I flashed a smile and I think a few tomatoes fell over, but oh well. I turned to Naruto, my excitement spiking.

I can feel him. Kurama.

My smile toned down, turning into a soft, gentle and sincere one. I walked up to Naruto, and crouched down in front of him. While releasing him from the ropes, I was too busy soaking up my father's presence to notice the rest of the class staring at us with burning eyes.

When he was free, I looked into his curious eyes and my smile widened again.

"Hello there. Who might you be?"

I asked gently, unsure of how he would react to me.

"I'm Naruto Uzumaki, BELIEVE IT!"

I winced slightly. His voice was really loud, but I'd be a pathetic bijuu if I couldn't handle something like this. I reached my hand out to him.

"Well, I'm Cei. Wanna be friends?"

Silence followed my question and I was getting confused as to why Naruto would refuse me but then a loud shout caught me off guard and something tackled me to the ground. Shocked, I looked down, only to see Naruto on me.

"Sure!"

He shouted. I smiled at him before clearing my throat, indicating we should get up. Pushing him slightly off me, we both rose to our feet. But then I heard a voice I most definitely never expected to talk, period. Never mind saying something like that.

Wanna play, huh? Well I'll play with you.

"So basically you're just another dead last joining in on the fun"

The emo smirked at the girl.

"Ohohohohoo, well, what have we here~"

The beautiful girl covered her mouth with her hand, and her face softened into a closed-eye smile.

"The emo look and duckbutt hair... Let me guess. An Uchiha, are we?"

The girl tilted her head innocently to the side, her features still in a closed-eye smile.

(The banshee gave a shriek, but Kiba closed her mouth tightly, wanting to see what's going to happen.)

The emo gave the girl a glare before widening his smirk.

And even though they were both smiling, everyone there could have sworn they saw bolts flying between them. Smirk vs closed-eye smile showdown.

The temperature in the room also seemed to drop to a freezing point.

Soon Iruka couldn't stand it anymore and cleared his throat.

"Ceiren, be a dear and sit by Naruto. And by the way, we'll be taking the exams tomorrow. Are you sure you want to take it too?"

The girl turned to face her sensei and her closed eyes opened slightly as she gave him a charming smile.

"Of course, sensei. It's not like I'll lose anything by trying."

"Except your dignity and our respect."

The girl slowly turned back to gaze at the emo that kept butting into her conversations.

"First, the opinions of brats will do absolutely nothing to damage my dignity, and second, are you implying that I actually have your respect to lose? Wow, thank you. Your words are misleading sometimes. I didn't realize I had made such a deep impression."

She covered her mouth with her hand again and let out a soft giggle. Almost all the boys in the room were fascinated.

Sasuke looked confused, annoyed and then mad. But before he could say anything else, Iruka did his big head jutsu making them all settle into silence.

No one said a word, until Iruka remembered the punishment he had given Naruto, and everyone had to line up to do the transformation jutsu.
