I plop on my bed and sigh dramatically.
'Ring' 'ring'
"Hello" I pick up not bothering to look who's calling
"Hello sunshine" Mary says
"Sorry" I mumble
"How bad was it?" She says sadly
"No one would talk to me, I sat by myself at lunch in the music room and that Felix guy hates me" I say tearing up
"Maybe tomorrow will be better" she says trying to cheer me up
"Maybe" I say doubtful
"Have you seen any ghost?" Mary says changing the subject
"Nope not yet"
"Maybe go to the cemetery and talk to one" she says laughing a little
"I actually might do that" I laugh with her "I better go I'll talk to you later" I say
"Okay call me if you need anything" she says softly
"Thanks bye"
"Bye"
I hang up the phone, I feel some tears running down my cheek.
"Luke I wish you were here" I cry
After a while I hear aunt Lora come home.
"Jess" I hear her say my name
"Coming" I yell back and walk downstairs
"How was your first day of school?" She asks me
"Okay" I shrug
"Was that Felix guy nice to you?"
"We are basically best friends now" I nod
"That bad huh?" She says looking guilty about something
"Is something wrong?" I ask her
"Um tom he called me uh at work and" she smiles a tight smile
"Yeah?" I say slightly confused
"He asked us to dinner" she look away
"And you said no right?" I look at her
She smiles nervously
"Right?" I say again
"Well I tried I did but he kept asking so I told him we would" she sighs
"When" I sigh
"Tonight"
"Great" plop on the couch
"Maybe it won't be that bad" she says
"Mmmhmm" is all I say
"We have to be there soon so if you need to freshen up or anything"
I get up and go back to my room.
I don't want to go!
I text Mary needing to vent.
