《Fluttercord: Forging A New Life (Fluttercord Fanfic)》Chapter 3: Nightmare's Help

--Discord's Nightmare--
Fluttershy and I were outside our cottage. There was a blurry pony, maybe dragonques, standing in front of us with a smile. It was an innocent smile that was meant to spread cheer and joy. Suddenly it turned malicious and the figure snapped its fingers. The sky was fooler with cotton candy clouds and the ground froze to ice. I turned to look at Fluttershy. She was gone, I began to panic. The figure moved closer, it dematerialized and Princess Luna was there.
"Lulu what's going on?" I said panicked. Snapping my head around looking for my love.
"Discord calm down. It's just a dream. I need to tell you this, though its against my sisters wishes. Your foal is dragonques, a females dragonques. The most powerful. You'll need to make sure she grows up to be a good pony. Or this," Luna motioned with her hoof around her,"Will be the future."
--Fluttershy POV--
I woke up with a jolt. Discord was sitting up breathing heavily. I didn't know if he knew I was awake so I shuffled my hind legs. He looked at me, his eyes were full of fear.
"Discord, what happened?" I asked tentatively. I had a feeling the dream had to do with our foal.
"I was having a nightmare and Luna came. She said that we have to make sure our daughter grows up to control her powers and her naturally chaotic side," Discord said. His voice was filled with determination.
"Daughter?" I asked. We hadn't been to the doctors yet to figure out if our foal was a mare or colt.
"Yes, Luna told me that our foal is a mare. Also that she'll be a dragonques," Discord replied. He was tense, his shoulders were stiff and he was looking around the room as if something was going to pop out of nowhere.

I was stunned into silence. I never understood how the princesses knew what the did. The fact that they cared so much about our foal was alarming. They didn't make a fuss unless it was necessary.
Discord grabbed my hoof and pulled me to him gently. We were both scared but we'd have to pull through. There was no other option. I was fighting the rising panic. The stress wasn't good for the developing foal.
I squeaked trying to hold it down. My head was beginning to feel light and dizzy. Taking deep breaths I tried to calm down. It only made it worse.
"Discord, I need my friends. We can't do this alone," my voice was faint. Discord released me and laid me down.
--Discord POV--
I teleported all of Fluttershy's friends to the living room. Where I was at the given moment. All of them gave me dirty looks and were about to speak when I interrupted.
"Fluttershy needs you. She's up in the bedroom," I stated. All of the girls ran up stairs. I sighed and sat on the couch. I could hear their voices and placed my face in my paws. It was all too much for her. The foal is going to be different than a normal dragonques because of this.
I laid on the couch. Sleep was nagging at my eyes. Finally I gave in and fell asleep listening to Fluttershy's soft voice fall from the bedroom explaining to her friends our situation.

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
