《Dawn of the Epoch》Chapter L - Spilling the Beans

Loyalty happened to be one of Chivambo’s defining characteristics. The word had come down from the Minister of Transportation to hide the ship. He had guided it to the old, abandoned seawater treatment plant on the Minguri side of the Nacala Bay. He guided it to its place under the canopy of the old intake building. To prying satellites, the ship would not be visible.
He did not ask questions. This would not be the first time that Chivambo dealt with Somali pirates and he doubted that it would be the last. He merely did as he was told. If Chivambo ever did consider the morality of the situation, he simply concluded that Mozambique had a booming extralegal economy and the fact that the transportation minister wanted to make a few moves outside of the law did not make him any less reputable than any other businessman on the street.
On that day, Chivambo saw only two people come out of the ship. Chivambo thought it strange that these men were the leaders because they clearly were not Somali. On the other hand, he had never seen such a large ship seized by pirates. Maybe they needed to bring in foreign gangsters to pull off this big of a caper. One was tall, pale, and broad-shouldered, and the other was olive-skinned with strange yellow eyes. The rest of the crew hid below the deck. Chivambo did not question this. The men may not have wanted their identities known.
Chivambo sat in his office smoking a large cigar that the pale man had given him. He leaned back in his chair and put his boots up on his desk. He interlocked his hands behind his head and relaxed. It was good to be him. He thoroughly enjoyed the cigar. A knock came at his door and his secretary peeked in.

“Sir, some dockmen are here to see you.” She said.
“What do they want? We have no more shipments scheduled for this week. Tell them to be here bright and early Monday morning.” He responded.
“They want to talk to you about the ghost ship.” She said tentatively.
He took his boots off the desk. “The ghost ship? Send them in.”
She opened the door wide and four large men bustled in with one skinny man in their midst. The skinny man had a grimace on his face. He did not want to be there.
“This man told those visitors from the other day about the ghost ship.” The leader of the group said. “He owes us money. We want a reward for bringing him in.”
Chivambo scowled. “Ghost ship?”
The large man smiled, “Hey, we know there’s no ghost ship. We know that on July 14th, in the middle of the night, no ship came into the Nacala Bay. Where would it go? It did not dock at the port. This man, however, thinks he saw something different. He told a visiting Kenyan man about it. He is clearly spreading specious rumors about our port. Rumors that could be bad for business.”
“Interesting.” Chivambo said. “Leave him here. Give your names to Maria on your way out. She will put you on the next loading crew at triple pay.”
“This man owes us a great deal of money.” The leader said as he shook Daniel.
“Don’t press your luck. Take the jobs or don’t take them. I am not sure if you all conspired with this man to spread these seditious rumors.”
The leader picked up on the veiled threat. “Alright.” He looked at his partners and jerked his head toward the door. They all filed out.
“Well now, it seems we need to have a talk.” Chivambo said as he blew smoke into Daniel’s face.
Daniel knew Chivambo’s reputation and wasted no time in capitulating. He told the whole story. He spilled the beans on his conversation with Hongo.

Braindead - A Zombie LitRPG
In a world where zombies are trash mobs that children kill for easy exp, what hope does one little zed have? Zed was minding his own business when his master's domain was invaded by a plucky young heroine looking to make a name for herself. An unlikely turn of events allowed Zed to come out on top, and gave him enough experience to rise above the life of a mindless minion. Unfortunately, it also left him with no body to share it with... literally, not figuratively! This story contains: Some 'jokes' containing questionable humour. An inhuman MC who has no interest in pesky things like romance or growing a conscience. Blue boxes, and a DnD style system messily mashed together with several other systems. Gore, but nothing too gratuitous. The main character is a severed head so what do you expect? Kingdom/base building, because what good is a zombie without a good horde behind them. Releases planned for each Sunday until I build up a decent backlog.

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
