《Dawn of the Epoch》Chapter XXIX - The Rise

Hunter hallucinated wildly. He felt himself become a powerful vibrating string. He extended infinitely across time and space. He thrummed and vibrated. The vibrations sent out waves of energy across the universe. The energy waxed and waned and in places became so intense that it solidified into matter. Hunter kept thrumming and emitting powerful notes and tones. He became aware of other strings vibrating along with him. Their tones joined in a sublime chorus. Swirling beams of energy crashed into each other and created dust and balls of flame. Hunter kept vibrating and saw the dust move through the flaming balls and become heavy. He renewed his strength and sent out more powerful waves. The balls of flame exploded and sent heavy particles soaring throughout the vast emptiness of space. Then he felt something snap. His consciousness became disjointed. He could not feel the vibrations any longer. He sunk lower. Suddenly, he could see colors and light. He saw vast oceans of blue water and felt himself fly across them at incredible speed. His consciousness came to a mountain range and soared to a high peak. Down below he saw a glowing crystal table. A voice beckoned him to the table. He felt his soul drawn by the sound.
“Ooooooooooooohm.”
Hunter’s eyes opened. He felt his fingers twitch. His body felt foreign to him. He twitched reflexively as if he could somehow escape this mortal coil. Slowly, his memories returned. He remembered that he was John Terrance Price, the son of Terrance John Price, the husband of Tiyana Brooke Price. He remembered the bright flames and the crystal table and his flesh melting. He felt his chest with his fingertips and poked himself. He felt real. He felt like his old self again, except that something had changed. Something changed, but he could not quite put his finger on it. He felt a connection that he had never quite felt before.

Sadly, the only one available was of a short and weak teenager who died many years before. Many things changed in the meantime: magic, dragons, and other creatures that were once thought to be of fantasy are now common, and a new system rules on everyone and everything, allowing a person to enhance his body past human limits. The Event Master
It is a reincarnation/transmigration story where the MC can only do magic that is socially condemned, but is protected somewhat by his powerful political station. For as long as he can keep it, anyway. With a little luck and some modern world thinking, perhaps he'll come up with something to change people's minds. Not forcefully though, that would be unethical. ** The MC is not a fighter. He's a gamer. He loves rpgs, movies, modern music, and telling stories. I intend to post at least once a week in the range of 2k words. If work eases up I'll increase the amount again. ((Work has instead intensified to the point where I'm struggling to get a chapter every two weeks. I'll pick it back up properly when I can, but for now it is on temporary hiatus while I still might post every once and awhile. This winter, I plan to go back to regular posts until the story finishes.))
